Charcoal: Is It Worth The Hype?

For Biore Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser

Morning cleansers

What it is:

A charcoal cleanser that cleanser that cleans 2x better and naturally purifies.

Key Ingredients:

water, glycerin, sodium laureth sulfate, fragrance, menthol, methylparaben, charcoal powder, iron oxides, cellulose.

How it feels/smells/looks:

It is a clack cleanser with black charcoal bits in it. It feels cooling on the skin from the menthol and foams up easily. The gel cleanser has a clean menthol scent. It smells similar to other Biore products without the menthol essence.

Why I like it:

It is a great basic cleanser, but I do not think that it really cleans better than other cleansers. Charcoal is so far down the ingredients list that I don’t think it does very much. I didn’t notice a difference in my acne, so for me, it was not worth the money. It took me forever to use this up, but I finally did. I would buy a different Biore cleanser in the future, because I do think it is a good brand. This just didn’t live up to my expectations.

      1. I think thats how a lot of brand make their money. Especially drug store brands that are marketing to some degree towards teenagers and young people who can’t afford a high end product and want to try something.

      2. Until you get wise to their tricks and stop buying. It’s why I really only use cetaphil now. They’re not trying to get to younger people like clean and clear and biore and the others. I had one clean and clear wash that irritated my skin instead. Not that all of their products are bad, just a bit tricky.

      3. I remember that face wash. I remember having it and Beth’s friend slept over and she knocked it over in the shower and half of it leaked out. Another reason everything of mine stays outside the shower now. They still sell it, I think. And the line has extended to a scrub and a body wash.

  1. I used a charcoal mask and a charcoal soap and I absolutely loved them. Maybe it just depends on the brand?

I’ve recently uploaded a January Empties on my blog, I’d love for you to check it out and let me know your opinions if you have tried any of the products! 🙂 x

    1. That could be it. What brands did you use?
Sure! I love reading and discovering new blogs with similar interests. Knowing me, I’ve probably tried at least one. I’m a beauty obsessed junky! lol.
