2021 1K Declutter Continued

Just a quick update that I am continuing the 1K declutter series and picking up where December left off on. We got up to 367. I will be writing my January Declutter post this week as I have the week off of work, since it is February break. I am hoping to hit 700 this year. I don’t think that I will hit the 1K, but it is important now more than ever for us to downsized as we might be leaving our apartment in the coming months due to unreasonable tenants who hate children. Our child is not loud and goes to school and daycare during the week. His time at home is pretty much limited to Saturday as we spend every Sunday with my fiancé’s mom at her house. We have no clue what “noise” they consider unreasonable and “too loud” that our child makes. I bought EVA insulation to pad his room with, but beyond that, I have no clue out to reduce noise that doesn’t sound loud to us.

We also have close relatives who might need financial help as one of them ended up in the hospital and on bed rest for 6 months due to a heart attack at a very young age. Our apartment is rundown and we pay too much for it as is, but it is our little two bedroom. It’ll be tough transitioning into a 1 bed and sharing a house, but we know it would be temporary. We have applied for housing as well. My fiancé is out of work and we don’t have the income for another apartment. A relative has offered to pay last and security, but with only my income, we don’t hit the requirements. So, right now, we can’t even get another apartment if we wanted to. It has been a rough 2021. 2020 is looking better and better as this year goes on. I lost my aunt, my brother-in-law gets in the hospital for a heart attack, and we get a noise disturbance notice for our child playing, running, and jumping during normal hours. It’s already been a year.

With Love,

  1. You have gone above and beyond to dampen noise. I am sorry you are going through this. Apartments are super weird, depending on how many in your unit, the person complaining might not be hearing your child at all, it might be from somewhere else and they are assuming it’s your child. I’ve seen this stuff happen before. I am really sorry you are having such a rough year. It’s so hard to begin with, and this added stress you just do not need.

    1. Thank you. It really did. My aunt died of a heart attack this year in her sleep, my brother in law had his heart attack at 28, and now, we have a noise complaint. One thing after another. Its the terrible sequel to 2020, that’s what 2021 is. I also get my degree this year, so there is time for this year to turn itself around.

  2. Ugh thats why I always hated living in an apt. Kids need to have lives too! Im so sorry you are going thru it right now.

Hopefully things start looking up for you guys!

    1. Thank you! Yes, it isn’t ideal. We were going to get a house at the beginning of 2020 and then 2020 happened. Now, we are just trying to get back on our feet and restart our savings towards a house. We have 10k banked, but we know we need to save at least that much more to get a nice house.
