I am doing good with using up more products in the monetary sense. I feel better that my number went down from 39 to 30. I am hoping to make more progress in September with lots of items on their last legs. I even have a couple of makeup items that could be done by the end of the month for realsies.

Empties: July & August 2022

I decided to just lump in both months together, because I kinda missed the boat with July. This will give me a fresh start for the rest of the year. I was able to finish off quite a few items these past two months, so I feel very accomplished with myself.

15 items used up in two months is not bad at all and it was a whole variety of items. I have like 3 or 4 more hair care products that are going to be used up this month. I’ve been taking good care of my hair lately and doing a lot of different styles now that I have more time on my hands.

It has been two weeks and it’s been a rough two weeks. I miss a lot of things. It is very bittersweet, but for the best for all involved.

22 in 2022: July/August Update

I am still chugging away with one more empty accomplished. lol. 8/22 used up. I don’t think I’ll make it to 22, but I am wearing makeup 5 out of 7 days a week. I love going back to work in person. It is motivating me to take better care of myself for sure. I loved the fact that I was able to use up this cream blush. I am finding that cream products have really been my jam lately. I love doing the sunburn/sun-kissed effect across the cheeks and nose with my blush.

Empties: June

I am able to get this post up a bit earlier in the month, which I am very happy about. I did go through quite a few products in June. It was a pretty heavy empties month, but I did not use up any makeup items. I did end up with pink eye, so I didn’t use makeup for a while. I am SO CLOSE on quite a few makeup items now. I am pretty sure that I can still use up 22 products in 2022. I’m almost done with two mini lip balms, a gel blush, a powder, two setting sprays, eyebrow gel, and another mascara. That is eight products right there. I should be in a good spot soon.

It was the month of haircare and skincare. I managed to use 4 hair products this past month. It was a dry shampoo month as we finished up two bottles of it. I also managed to use up shampoo and a conditioner. I usually use up the matching shampoo before the conditioner, so I rarely use them up in sets.

So many skincare items! 4 eye masks, an eye serum, an eye cream, and a packet of facial wipes. I decluttered the two eye items when I got pink eye as those were the 2 items that I used on and around my eyes 48 hrs prior to getting pink eye symptoms. I had not used my mascara or any eye shadow or liner thankfully.

I used 2 bath bombs and they really color the water nicely! Not much of a scent, but they also don’t stain or leave your tub slippery. I would get these again. I paired them with bath salts for scent and relaxing qualities.

Three misc items. Deodorant, room spray, and a pen.

7 sheets of stickers for accountability purposes.

It is nice to see 13 beauty items leave my collection. June was a very productive month for me and I hope to keep the momentum going through July. I do know that light months usually follow heavy months, so I am not going to be disappointed if July doesn’t yield as many empties as June did.

Empties: April/May

Two months worth of empties and decluttered items. There are 39 items that would be counted towards my beauty balance. We can certainly get into the meat of this post and I can give a bit more details on the items that I have used up from the beginning of April to the end of May.

This was a self-care basket that I gave to my future sister-in-law who was going through some rough times with a loss within her family.

I forgot to include this in the above photo.

The above was a care package for my daughter, when we were still not seeing each other.

This care package was for my son’s special education teacher. She is expecting soon.

Over the past 2 months, I have used up 10 sticker sheets, which is really good for me.

I was able to use up 8 skin care products in two months, which is impressive for me.

I change out my hair brushes often, probably once every three months. I use a fair amount of product that it does gunk up, even with washing it with some mild soap. The scalp scrub broke in the shower. The Bed Head, I’ve had FOREVER and it went bad. Dry Shampoo is a staple and makes a monthly appearance.

I am so proud of myself that I was able to finish off two makeup products in 2 months. I am still behind, but I am almost finished with 2 more products. I think they will be done in the month of June. We shall see.

22 in 2022: April/May Update

I have used up 5/22 items so far in this project pan. With the move happening in May, I decided to combine April and May’s updates as most of the items were boxed up in the month of May/end of April.

April/May Project Pan Items:

Hourglass Palette:

I am retiring the Hourglass palette. I don’t enjoy using it anymore. The more I used it, the more I realized that I didn’t like the shimmer on my face. I only used it when I was home all day and even then, I always thought my face was too sparkly/too dark. I’m going to be giving this to my stepdaughter to play with since it is on the older side and only good as play makeup at this point.

IGK Holographic Foam:

I’m gonna be honest and say that I have not used this. I plan on just putting it in my pony tail or bun the next time I go to work. This is an easy empty. I don’t know why I am having such a hard time using it up. I think I just keep forgetting to use it.

Too Faced Peach Primer:

I finished this primer.

Huda Beauty Setting Spray:

I am still working on this. It feel half empty.

Farsali Setting Spray:

The markings have rubbed off on the glass bottle. I have a little less than half the bottle to go. I think I should be close to done by the end of June. We are still setting up our vanity, so I can’t say for sure. It might not be done until the end of July.

Becca Bronzing/Highlighting Beads:

I am getting there. No visible progress to report.

Ciate London Setting Powder:

I have might slight progress on this powder. I haven’t been using this much lately as I have been using another powder-like product instead.

Additions:

I am adding 5 more items into the project.

Florence Brow Gel:

Still plenty of product on the brush.

Bite Lip Gloss:

Just started using this and already at the E (above). It is a click type gloss, so I think it will be pretty easy to move through.

Pretty Vulgar Beauty Mousse:

This is a foundation/primer hybrid. I am into a light base at the moment, so I thought this was the perfect time to pan this product.

Dior Dream Skin Perfector:

This is a primer/light coverage (think slightly tinted) tint as well. This is more on the greasy/oily side, so this will require the use of the powder in the project, which will help me reach for it more.

Rodial Glow Primer:

This is the oldest primer in my collection. It is a liquid dropper type. It will probably take me a couple of months to move through it.

My current makeup count is 7/22 used up/decluttered. I will have to pick up the pace if I want to use up 15 items with 6 months remaining. I would need to use up 2 to 3 items every month. Here’s to hoping that I can have another successful project pan this year!

I am loving where my balance is at this month. I have less products in my collection and I have used up more than I have spent so far this year. I cannot believe that right now that the amount of products that I have brought in haven’t increased my collection size. But also, that despite spending $459.12 so far this year, I have already used up that amount of product (and then so), which totally justifies my purchases to myself. I am dreading April, because I did a birthday haul for the Sephora Spring Event. lol

Purchased VS Empties: March Update

I did some online and retail therapy this month. I also donated quite a few items as well. I am hoping that the numbers sort of balance each other out. I have no clue though. I know April will throw things way off, because I have already shopped way too much this month. I got so many incredible deals though that I never feel guilty over any of my shopping. I have also really been pushing through product with a speed that I have never accomplished before now that I am not hoarding and saving my products.

Purchased:

5 items were Boxycharm, which costs me $27.99 a month. The Kopari Balm was $9. The eyeliner was $3. Primer for $6 and setting spray for $12. The bath salts were $2. The foot masks were $5.99. The body mask was $8 and the self tanner was $9.99. The scalp scrub was $6.99 and a life saver. The moisturizer was $3 and the Becca highlighter was $12.99. The total spent in March was $106.95, bringing us up to my current yearly total spent as $459.12. I am honestly surprised that I have almost spent $500 in 3 months. I might have been way off when stating that I would purchase about 1K this year.

Used Up:

I have used up or decluttered a total of $386.58 this month.

My purchases for the year total $459.12 and my empties total $840.17 so far. This means that I have used up $381.05 more than what I have brought into my collection. However, I have lessened my collection by 16 products, even with the purchases this month. I am very happy with the beauty balance this month. I do like that my use up is currently almost 2x the amount spent. However, April has already been spendy, so I don’t know what the numbers will look like for April.

1K Declutter: March Update

This is the final post in the series. I am proud to say that I was able to reach my goal of using up / decluttering 1,000 items from my home and from my life. I donated a good portion of items as well, which always feels good. It is sort of a bittersweet post as it is saying good bye to the past two years that I have done this series. It is the beginning of a new time with new, fresher memories. I am excited to show you the final numbers and the items that I used up or decluttered!

Donated:

#992 – 1,009 – It felt so good to donate all of these items to the Ukraine. It is all new items.

Skincare:

#1,010 – 1,017 – I used up or decluttered all of these skincare items.

Body Care:

#1,018 – 1,020 – I was proud of myself for using up a body scrub as body items usually take me forever to use up, because I don’t take as much as time as I should taking care of it.

Hair Care:

#1,021 – 1,022 – The Amika nozzle stopped working and nothing that I could do could make it go. It was almost like it ran out of aerosol.

Makeup:

#1,023 – 1,031 – I also used up / decluttered 8 makeup products! This concludes my 1K declutter series. If you have been along for the whole ride, thank you so much!
