My Free Erin Condren Covers

Heya Aspiring Gurus!

Erin Condren was recently having an October/Halloween sale, where if you bought one cover, you got the second cover for free. I had a free cover code expiring at the end of September, so I thought that this would be the perfect opportunity to get two covers for free and only pay 9.95 USD to ship them. Each of these custom covers retail for 10.95 USD, so I got a steal for the price. They also included a sticker and a post card, which were a nice touch.

The first cover that I bought is a holiday themed one. It was cute and I like the saying on it. I used my first and middle name on the cover. “Selena” is more of a nickname for this blog, sorry to shatter the image. I like the hot pink against the chalkboard background.

I thought that this one would be fun for summer and to incorporate the whole family. I keep everyone’s schedules and appointments, so it is only natural to have a family cover. It will be fun to use during the summer months or whenever I want it to feel like summer. Again, I love the hot pink background. I’ve been really feeling the pink lately.

I might be having a sticker haul later this month from Erin Condren as well, since I do have a coupon for it. I love the interchangeable covers. I can have a cover for every season and mood.

Silver Locks

For Jhirmack Distinctions Silver Plus Ageless Shampoo

Silver Shampoo
Silver Shampoo

What it is: A purple shampoo for gray, blonde, bleached, or highlighted hair that removes brassy tones.

Key Ingredients: water, sodium laureth sulfate, macadamia seed oil, hydrolyzed collagen, castor oil, fragrance, citric acid, methylparaben, propylparaben, violet 2.

How it feels/smells/looks: It smells like a mixture of sunblock and fruit. It is a shiny, dark purple shampoo that feels very stripping in the hair as it makes a ton of lather.

Why I like it: This does a good job at toning the brassiness in my hair. I have bleached pieces and my hair itself is a dark blonde. Purple shampoo calms down the golden tones in my hair. My hair grows out blonde, turns dark, and then goes like two shades lighter. It’s wierd like that. I am not buying this again, because I like the purple shampoo treatments from John Frieda. There is nothing wrong with this one at all. I just like a different brand better.

September BeautyFix

Heya Aspiring Gurus!

I recently received my BeautyFix September box a couple of weeks ago and just got around to opening it. I was going to do an unboxing, but I’m feeling under the weather this weekend. I thought I would just share what I got in this box instead. I paid 13 USD and some odd change for this box and it came with two free samples, which was very generous of Dermstore. I will be getting the October box at 25 USD and the November box. I will be cancelling after that for three months and then resubscribing. I cannot afford a 25 USD box during my maternity leave. I am excited to receive two more boxes though. I really love this subscription. Let me show you why!

Full Sized Products:

Dr. Brandt BB Cream With Signature Flexitone, 1 oz for 39 USD

bb creambb creambb cream swatch dr jartswatch dr jart

This product alone makes the whole box worth it to me. I have been wanting to try this forever and I really enjoy trying out new bb creams. This one seems a bit dark on the back of my hand, but a little goes a long way. I’m hoping that if I spread it out better, thinner on my face, I will get a better color match. If it doesn’t match, then I will give this to a friend who might be a better match than me. I’m just happy to be trying this out and it is such an expensive product.

Nick Chavez Starlet Shine Spray, 3.5 oz for 19 USD

shine spray

I can use a new shine spray. The one that I have is a manual spray and this one is aerosol. I’m interested to see the difference and see how this one performs compared to my drugstore one. I’m hoping that this one will be a little more subtle and easy to use. The other one made my hair look a bit greasy and I would always wash it that day, if I used it.

Deluxe Samples:

Sanitas Skincare Lemon Cream Scrub, 60 ml for 10 USD

cream scrub

I needed a new cleanser for in the morning, since I was running out of my samples. This will be nice to try and it is a very good size. Maybe, this will be a new favorite morning cleanser. I like that most of these brands are really expensive. It is like a monthly treat to myself. It smells like freshly squeezed lemons, so this will be nice to use in the morning.

L’Occitane Shea Butter Extra-Gentle Soap in Verbena, 1.7 oz for 1.80 USD

I love the hand lotion by this brand and the fact that it is pretty affordable is great. Also, you get a 20% off coupon good for the entire month, if you wanted to buy something from the Dermstore. I will be giving this lemon scented soap to my dad. He really loves to use soaps and I don’t use solid soap as much. I have a few from Lush that I am in the process of using and my skin is very sensitive to soaps. He likes the scent and I’ll let you know if he likes thee soap as well.

NIA 24 Sun Damage Prevention UVA/UVB Sunscreen SPF 30/PA, 1 fl oz for 19.60 USD

Another big sample that is quite expensive. I will be putting this away until I finish my current facial sunscreen. This came sealed, so I can feel good about putting it away for a a month or two. I look forward to trying this out, since I put sunscreen on my face and neck almost everyday year round. For now, it is going into storage.

Jane Iredale Just Kissed Lip and Cheek Stain in Forever Peach, ?

lip balmlip balmlip balm

I already have this in forever pink, so now I have both of them. They are great for moisturized lips on the go and they smell amazing too. I will be keeping this one at work. It gives a subtle peach hue to your lips.

SkinMedica TNS Eye Repair, 2g for 13.72 USD

eye cream

I have a morning eye cream, so this will be nice to use at night to prevent aging. I’m guessing that this sample would last a month for the eye area. I look forward to testing this out and seeing if my eyes are too sensitive for it. I wonder if this will help dark circles?

Skinceuticals Phloretin CF, ? 1 fl oz is 162 USD, so it is an expensive small sample

This is a Vitamin C serum that you apply in the morning before putting on moisturizer. I am glad to have another Vitamin C serum to get rid of the remaining hyperpigmentation that I have on my cheek, which is my only skin concern. Acne leaves red marks on my face and vitamin C really helps a lot. I’m glad to be adding this into my morning routine and there seems to be enough or two weeks to a month of use.

Avene Retrinal 0.1 Intensive Cream, 0.1 fl oz for 6.90 USD

The small samples are really expensive, even though you only get a small bit. I calculate my samples from the full size and do the math to determine the price. You really get what you pay for. This is an anti-aging night cream. I’m guessing it would be three full face applications, but I’m going to use it as an eye cream once I am not pregnant or nursing. The packaging tells me specially not to use it. So, this will sit around for a bit. If I’m not going to be able to use it by August 2017, I will give it away.

Raw Spirit Summer Rain Eau De Parfum, 1 ml for 5.30 USD

This is a nice citrus scent that I am sure Danielle will love. It is crisp and fresh. I still have half of my bottle of White Citrus, so I am all set when it comes to this fresh squeezed scent. I don’t want this sample to just sit around, so I will add it to her birthday bag as a little freebie. Surprise, Danielle! Speaking of you, I have a letter I never mailed! I need to mail it!

I think that this box is a great value at 13 and some odd change. Hell, even at 25 USD, everything would have been worth it. I also received these extras. I will be enjoying this subscription and will be resubing next year after my maternity leave. It is everything that I like to sample. I also really enjoy the variety. I have plenty of things to pamper my skin with now.

Medicell Labs Advanced Moisture Eye Mask Duo, 1 pair for 15 USD

eye mask

I would never buy something so expensive for myself, but I will enjoy using these after my delivery. I plan on taking this with me to the hospital, along with a few sheet masks to really perk my skin up after that ordeal. I am very excited to have some fancy, luxury pamper goodies! It also has a 30% of coupon if you want to buy the set: an eye mask and a facial mist that retails for 70 USD. I will not be using this so, here it is MEDICELLEYE.

SkinMedica Total Defense + Repair SPF 34, 3.7 g for 3.70 USD

This is a small sunscreen sample that I will use after I finish my current sunscreen. It is made for the face and has antioxidants in it. I think that I would get about two uses out of this, but I will still enjoy using it. I am putting it away for now, but I will use this in a couple of months and will let you know my impression of it. I love freebies!

Cafe Vienna

For Maxwell House International Cafe Cafe Vienna

What it is: A naturally and artificially flavored cafe-style beverage mix.

Key Ingredients: sugar, nondairy creamer, instant coffee, cinnamon oil. 80 mg of caffeine per serving.

How it smells/tastes/looks: It smells like chocolate, cinnamon, and coffee. It looks like coffee (lol) with foam on top. It tastes incredible once it has time to cool off a bit. I find that the taste intensifies, when it has the time to sit and develop.

Why I like it: I really love these international cafe instant coffees, because they are a real treat for me and they don’t take much effort to make. I just add two round tablespoons (of a regular spoon) and mix with hot water. It already has milk and is sweetened as well. Honestly, I could add cinnamon, creamer, sugar, and chocolate to my own cup of regular coffee, but that is just too much effort for me and figuring things out.

September Empties

Heya Aspiring Gurus!

I hope you all have been enjoying the beginning of Octoberfest. Today is my dad’s birthday, so we will be celebrating later with cake. He hasn’t decided if he wants cheese cake or ice cream cake. I’m hoping for ice cream, but we will see. September was a month full of empties for me, from samples to a few full sized products. I finished 8 samples and 8 full sized products. It is a mix of everything, so here we go.

If The Foundation Fits…

For Maybelline New York Fit Me! Foundation in 210 SPF 18

What it is: A foundation that perfectly matches your skin tone.

Key Ingredients: water, methylparaben, glycerin, proplyparaben, fragrance, ethylparaben, isobutylparaben, butylparaben

How it feels/smells/looks: The foundation smells sickly and not pleasant at all (granted, it is two years old, but it smelled the same way when I bought it). Thankfully, the smell goes away after an hour of wear. It feels nice going on the skin and is very blendable. It looks great at first, then you start to look a bit orange from oxidization.

Why I like it: It was nice last summer, when  I bought it and afterward it never worked for me. Maybe, it is because I am not as tan as last year. Now, I find it orange and patchy. Now that I see all the parabens, I am going to chuck it and not worry about it not actually being empty. I tried making it work by cutting it down with lotion, but the combo was making me greasy as heck. I want to purchase a different type of foundation next time. Maybe a mousse formula?

African Red

For OleHenriksen African Red Tea Foaming Cleanser

What it is: A facial cleanser with vitamin C and brightening citrus extracts.

Key Ingredients: water, ascorbic acid, aloe lea juice, borago seed oil, linseed oil, black currant seed oil, carrot seed oil, orange oil, mandarin orange peel oil, grapefruit peel oil, shea butter, aspalathus leaf extract, pumpkin fruit extract, maticaria flower extract, glycerin, limonene.

How it feels/smells/looks: It is yellow in the bottle, but turns into a white foam when you pump it out. It smells like sweet mandarin oranges and feels soft and fluffy when you use it on a damp face. The wetter your skin is, the more the product foams up.

Why I like it: This sample that I bought in a kit lasted forever. It took so long to use it, even though it is about half the size of a full size cleanser. I really enjoyed using this product, but I do not think that I would repurchase it. I didn’t see a difference in my skin and since I don’t have a problem with dull skin, I did not see the brightening effect. I think if you do have a problem with dull skin, that you should give this a try based on all the great ingredients in it. If this was in another kit that I get, I will gladly use it, because I did like it.

Thanks for celebrating the first day of Octoberfest with me! I will be uploading a post everyday this month and some of them will be holiday themed. I am so excited, especially since I might not get to complete 25 days of Christmas blogging due to my pregnancy. I am supposed to give birth on December 18th! So close and yet, so far away.

October Favorites

Heya Aspiring Gurus!

I know that I am super late with this post, but better late than never, right? I will just get into it! The products that I have been loving this month are all from the Ole Henriksen line. I am really in love with his products. I have a lot of Vitamin C/Citrus infused ones and a few plain ones as well. His products are all superb and I haven’t found one that I haven’t like out of the six. They are doing a great job at balancing my skin out, especially since I found out a product that I have been using was causing extreme dryness on my chin, resulting in red, flaky skin. I don’t have any particular favorites, just every item that I bought in the kit on my recent Sephora trip. Speaking of which, my chin is burning like crazy right now. It is mostly better, but this cold weather is making it very irritable. I have to make this post quick, because I am not feeling too well. I have an upset stomach and a bit of heartburn, a very weird combination. What were your favorites this past month?

Pedicure Monday: Funday

Heya Aspiring Gurus!

I thought that I would do something different this week and do my toe nails instead of my fingernails. I actually did a whole foot spa day. I used a foot soothing soap in my bath tub and made myself a little foot bath. I let my feet soak for around twenty minutes before adding an exfoliating foot mask. I let the mask set for ten minutes, add a little water, and exfoliated my foot with the remaining mask. I rinse my feet off completely and thoroughly dry them off. I trimmed my toe nails and added cuticle oil. My feet get itchy with lotion, so I always skip that step. I added two coats of Avon Nailwear Pro in Loving Lavender. I then made a flower petal design on my big toes with OPI Nicole in Mi Fantasia.

Sephora Haul: Oops, I Did It Again…

Heya Aspiring Guru!

I went to Sephora again, gurus! I love Sephora, if you cannot tell already! It is now my new obsession besides Lush that is and The Body Shop. I still love that store as well, even though I haven’t been there in a year. It isn’t that close by, not like Sephora is. I’m thinking about ordering online, but I love walking into a store and smelling and touching everything. Yes, I am one of those. I am planning another Lush haul for Christmas for Christmas themed goodies! Then, of course, my birthday will only be five months away and I’ll go to all three stores. I’m getting carried away with myself, though. I had a 10 USD gift card from, Yappem, so I thought that I would put it to good use. It brought my total with tax to bout 55 USD and I now have around 130 Insider points. I’m saving up for a 500 point perk, which is a makeup bag full of goodies. Here are the goodies I bought recently and yes, a much bigger bag.

Josie Maran Coconut Watercolor Cheek Gelee in Pink Escape (a limited edition color), 0.095 for 13 USD (I used my gift card to justify this as 3 USD.)

This is the perfect natural flush shade that is impossible to overdue. Believe me, I tried for the swatch. The dark red jello cheek stain in this classy glass jar shows up on the skin as a genteel pink. I immediately popped it into my bag. The full size is a whopping 38 USD, so I was happy to get the mini to see if I really love it THAT much. I don’t usually spend a lot of money on makeup, since I don’t use it ll that often. I’m happy about this purchase, though.

Ole Henriksen Your Skin Is A Gift To Be Treasured Unwrap Your Radiance Collection for 48 USD, a 95.50 USD Value

gift collectionGift Collection

I needed to try other products from a different beloved line after realizing that my Sephora no longer carries the full sized versions of the Peter Thomas Roth kit that I bought. I decided to try these products for my hyper pigmentation and acne, since the sales associate said that many people buy it for this purpose and it works. I’ll breakdown the six products you get in this kit.

Ole Henriksen The Clean Truth Cleansing Cloths Brightening, 10 ct.

Fleur from FleurDeForce on Youtube raves about these wipes, so I am excited to see what is all the fuss about them. I think that I will use these on the days that I just want to go to bed and cheat on my extensive beauty routine, especially since it states that they cleanse, brighten, and hydrate in one step. I could see why Fleur would love these. I hope I do, too! (FYI, these wipes are amazing, but I have some Yes To Grapefruit wipes that are half the price and just as good, except with grapefruit instead of oranges.)

Ole Henriksen African Red Tea Foaming Cleanser, 3.5 fl oz.

This smells like pure oranges. I love the scent so much. I will be using this every morning, until my other cleanser runs out. Then, I would be using this in the morning and at night. I cannot wait to see, if this helps my skin. This stuff foams up a ton and lathers my whole face in thick bubbles.

Ole Henriksen Invigorating Night Treatment Overnight Resurfacer, 0.5 fl oz

Treatment gel

I have a beauty oil that I love for at night, but for those nights where I want to use something with glyolic acid, this would pair perfectly with it. This clear gel is a miracle worker. It has totally changed my skin and is smoothing down the bumps that strangely appeared on my face and neck. I have been using this for two weeks constantly and my face and neck are almost totally clear from acne and from the bumps. Glycolic acid and retinol deactivate each other making both products useless, so be mindful of your pairings when you mix product lines together.

Ole Henriksen Sheer Transformation Oil-free Perfecting Creme, 0.5 fl oz

I know people online have been raving about this product for its moisturizing properties. I would stick to using this during the day, because my face does not need extra moisturizers at night to layer multiple ones. I’ll let you know if this is as oil-free as it says it is. This sinks in quickly and has a slight pearl sheen. The pearl sheen has an illuminating property, but does not make an oily girl look oily. I really like this light moisturizer.

Ole Henriksen Pure Truth Youth Activating Oil, 0.5 fl oz

Since this is an oil, I will be using it only at night most likely. I will try it on a weekend to see if it makes my skin oily. Hopefully, I will see if it helps my skin. I already have an oil that I love, so I’ll see how this measures up to it.

Ole Henriksen Truth Serum Collagen Booster, 0.5 fl oz

I will be using this only in the morning as a skin booster. I am really hoping to be blown away. Here’s to dreaming of beautiful skin. I cannot wait to try everything that I have bought!

Have you gone to Sephora lately?

With Love,

Selena Hannah xoxoxo
