January Empties 2017

Well, here we are in the middle of February and I have my January Empties for all of you to enjoy.I will be doing my usual list and if you want to hear my thoughts on the product,  I have a three part empties video, because my SD card is so small.I’m going to invest in a bigger SD card just for videos. Anyways, the videos will be at the bottom of the post. I like doing the video(s), because I can share my thoughts on the products that I normally would not review on my blog due to the samples being smaller than 0.5 ounces and stuff like that. I’m hoping for two makeup empties in Feb. I want to move 1 makeup product out of my collection every month, even if it’s just a sample.

I have started to recycle my empties that are recyclable as well, since I now have a recycling bin at the new place.

I hope you all enjoy and have a great Saturday!

Prime Objective Perfecting Face Primer

Hello everyone! I am back again with another sponsored post. I teamed up with Studio Gear Cosmetics and tried out their Prime Objective Perfecting Face Primer. I have a few pros and cons to share with you, but first, a little about the company and the product.

Studio Gear Cosmetics is all about great quality makeup and tools at an affordable price for the modern everyday woman. The primer is priced at $30 USD for 1 oz of primer, which is around the same price as some high end brands like Tarte. It has a cute motto about a painter priming a canvas which is the same as you primer your face for makeup. It’s really a cute concept. This primer is a silicone based primer that glides onto the skin blurring imperfections and adding a shimmery radiance.

I really like the silky texture and finish to the skin. Anything I put on top of this primer glides on. It also takes out the shine of my sunscreen. I put my moisturizer/sunscreen on top of my primer and my skin  has a natural finish instead of a shiny/oily looking one. I really like that it keeps the skin as matte as possible. If I can skip powder, I’m happy with one less step. On natural days, I’ll just use my primer and some highlighter and eye makeup. On yucky skin days, I’ll use the primer, foundation, concealer, and use powder on top. Makeup really does last longer with this powder.

I would repurchase this and you can purchase this now for 10% off, just use the code BB at checkout. This code is not an affiliate code and I get nothing if you use it. I just thought that I would share the savings.

The only con about the primer is that it tends to ball up on itself or balls up product underneath it. What I do is I pump out a pump on my fingers and dot the product on my t-zone first, then my cheeks. I smooth it over my forehead, down the nose, across each side of the nose going across my cheeks where I tend to get clogged pores, my cheeks, and then my chin. Don’t rub the product all over and don’t use a lot of pressure. It has a learning curve with how to best apply. So, light pressure and just smooth it across the skin. I’ve found that that is the best way.

This primer blurs my clogged pores and makes them disappear. Honestly, I’m always having a good skin day when I wear it, unless I have an obvious pimple. It just makes my whole face look so clear and smooth. I will have to repurchase when I run out, when I can splurge on it. It will last me awhile though. I’ve been using it for a month and it’s almost a fifth gone. I would guess that this will last me five to six months, but I don’t use it everyday. Mostly just four to five days a week.

Spray Moisturizer

For Vaseline Intensive Care Spray Moisturizer in Aloe Soothe

I hate putting petrolatum ( a byproduct of fuel) and parabens on my skin, but I liked the convenience of spray on moisturizer. I got this for free from Influenster in exchange for an honest review. Although I do like the product, I would not repurchase nor do I recommend it. I recommend buying a spray moisturizer with not  petrol in it. I don’t think petrolatum is very healthy for your body. I used it up, because I had it and I don’t think a little exposure is going to kill me. I like the convenience of a spray, but now that I think about it, it really is no different than just using regular lotion. You still have to rub it in. I’m on the fence about this product. Do your research.

Reviv Serums HA7X Multi-Molecular Hydrator Serum

I have teamed up with Reviv Serums, again. This time I am testing out a new hydrating serum. The serum is a $89 product, but  you get TWO whole ounces, which is more than you get from most high end brands where you would pay this price or close to it for only one ounce. I already think it is a deal at 44.5 dollars an ounce.

The serum contains 7 types of hyaluronic acid and Givaudan(R) Active Beauty, which is a recent 2016 Gold Award winner. This allows the serum to deliver hydration, protection, plumping, smoothing, rejuvenation, and recovery from the subcutaneous levels. HA7X supports your skin’s own ability to replenish hydration, tighten the skin, and plumping. It also helps to protect against environmental stressors. This is comparable to HA5 Rejuvenating Hydrator® by SkinMedica® / Allergan® and yet with these new actives, HA7X is about half the price as SkinMedica’s version.

I took before, during, and after photos during my two week test trial. I’m not sure how convincing they will be though. The serum really hydrated my skin and made it feel and look plumper. I also use this when my hands get really dry for an added boost of moisture. It also makes your skin baby soft.

  • GIVEAWAY: Five lucky winners will each receive a full-sized package of new HA7X Serum, an $89 product. Entrants are limited to readers and followers who are located in the United States or Canada (except Quebec).

Super Youth

For OZ Naturals Super Youth Eye Gel

I was super disappointed when I used up the last drop of this basic eye gel. I used this in the morning to depuff my eye area and this was great for that. It was cooling and didn’t irritate my eyes at all. I have another morning eye cream to use up, but I will be repurchasing this one. It is so cheap on amazon, around 10 USD, and filled with all natural ingredients. I didn’t notice a difference in my dark circles, but mine are herititary. I don’t think anything really can help it. I like using a basic eye gel in the morning and an eye treatment cream at night. Next time I buy my dogs Greenies, I will add this to my cart. I need a back up. Also, I love the pump!

RevivHair Placode Booster Serum Review

I am lucky enough to be partnering with RevivHair and trying out their new Placode Booster Serum. I was planning on testing it out, but when it came in the mail, my dad was very intrigued. He asked if he could test it out and after confirming that it is uni sexual, I agreed. I applied it to his hair everyday or night for thirty days and the results really speak for themselves. He couldn’t be happier and I will be buying another 30 day supply on Black Friday through Cyber Monday (whenever the site will have a really good deal).

A 30 day supply retails for 79 USD, but right now you ca purchase it for 44 USD. The RevicHair Placode Booster Serum contains oligiopeptides, which encourages new hair growth reducing hair loss, boosts the development of healthy hair follicles, and thickens and strengths hair strands. This hair serum has powerful ingredients that benefit both women and men. No more separate hair loss products for husband and wife. The oligiopeptides are proven to reduce the rate of hair loss and visibly decrease the appearance of thinning hair.

Here’s a link to a video about The Placode Booster Serum:
In a 60-day, 23-person consumer study of Placode Booster Serum, 87% of consumers tested noted a reduction in the appearance of falling hair, 92% agreed that their hair appeared thicker or healthier; 74% of testers also saw a reduction in the appearance of thinning scalp areas; 92% said their hair appeared fuller or more supple.
About the Brand: specializes in novel and innovative clinical treatment serums. Our unique formulations are next-generation, high-performance, leading-edge — and any other great hyphenated catchphrases you can imagine.

We’re here to buck the status quo in standard medical grade skincare and haircare treatment lines. We’ve found the vast majority of current popular physician-office products, while certainly somewhat-to-quite effective, are no longer leading edge. And most of them contain ingredients that really aren’t that expensive to acquire, compared to their retail price.

So we created Reviv Serums to provide products equivalent to famous physician-office brands so it’s easy to compare, apples-to-apples. We then leapfrog them with brand new cosmetic chemistry, and provide them to you at a competitive price. Along the way, we’ve also developed some truly novel products with breakthrough ingredients and really astonishing results (case in point: our RevivHair™ and RevivLash™ Stimulating Serums).

Here is the package that I received on my doorstep:

The PR package was beautifully wrapped in black tissue paper, which I think the sticker was a very nice touch. I also really like the cute message on the box itself. When you first open the box, the vials and the syringe reminded me of diabetic insulin. Now, there is no needle in the plunger, but you can guarantee that each vial of serum is the freshest it can be. Each vial lasts you 6 days and there are 5 vials that come in a box. You use 1ml of serum everyday and leave it in and forget about it. The serum this clear and a bit thick. It absorbs fast and readily. It leaves a little shine that goes away in about 10 minutes. It was an easy step to add to my dad’s routine.

Here are some before photos of my dad’s hair:

You can really get the idea that my dad’s hair is thick, but his hair is receding, thinning, and balding in the back of his head on top. He was really hoping that this stuff would thicken his hair to at least hide the balding spot, but what he got was much more than that and you’ll see why.

Here are the after shots:

This did not just thicken his hair. It actually did stimulate some growth. Yes, he still has some balding and thinning, but not nearly as much as before. This stuff is simply amazing. It’s not going to work overnight, but after seeing such an improvement after 30 days, I can just imaging the improvement with another supply.

Before & After Photos:

The results when compared side by side is truly amazing. This is a repurchase for sure. I couldn’t be happier with the results and neither could my dad. He still cannot believe it when he looks in the mirror. He has so much confidence now. This product gives you so much more than thicker hair. It gives you self-confidence and your swagger back.

With Love,

The New Derma E

I was lucky enough to partner with Derma E to preview their new packaging and I have to say, the design team over at Derma E did a fantastic job. The products’ packaging feels more luxurious and high end to match the 30 USD price tag of the day and night creme. Before I get into more depth about the products and the packaging, I want to introduce you to the brand and who they are.

Derma E Commitment:

Ethical Beauty

Since 1984, our passion for health, wellness and
environmental sustainability has grown strong.
We have high ethical standards and never
compromise on skin health and safety. Our
100% vegan, cruelty-free formulas do not
contain parabens, sodium lauryl sulfates,

soy or GMOs. Now that’s honest-to-goodness
skin care.

Purchases support global communities and the

Derma E is all about ethical beauty and our impact on the environment. Proceeds from all purchases support global causes and it is amazing to think that my money is actually going to great causes to help everyone in the world. And I still get a nice beauty treat! The best part? You can find Derma E at Target, Walgreens, Ulta, and CVS among others, making this line very accessible, especially where I live in the East Coast area.

Now, lets look at the pretty new packaging compared to the older packaging.

The new packaging is on the right and the older on the left. The box itself is a little taller and looks more elevated than the older box. The new box is crisp and clean with a white backdrop, so the lotus design and text can really pop. The older packaging has too much going on, so I’m a big fan of the new simpler design.

The old packaging is really glossy and has a lot going on on every side. There is too much text and color. The eye doesn’t know what to look at first. It catches the eye in all the wrong ways and looks very low-end drugstore, which is at odds with the high-end price. I do like that at the bottom of the box it says when the product expires.

While the new packaging still has a lot of text, the simple design and matte box, makes reading the information a loot easier. The eye has a place to go and settle. I’m not distracted by a block colored box with a glossy glare. I love that they kept the bottom expiration information. This is a true example of less is more. I find this box more refined and high end simply from the crisp white background and clean text.

I love that the bottom of the jar has the expiration date on it as well, because I usually forget to keep the box and I throw it away, especially when I am in a declutter mood. The moisturizer smells just like old fashioned bubble gum. It takes a little bit of rubbing in on my normal to combination skin before it sinks in. Since the air is getting drier, this moisturizer will be a treat to put on my skin. It leaves a powdery finish on my skin, which I love. There is nothing more that I hate than a glowy moisturizer and this one gives hydration without leaving my skin looking dewy or slightly greasy.Again, the packaging around the jar is too eye-distracting and nothing I would want to show off on my vanity.

However, I love displaying this chic, little jar on my bathroom counter (since I don’t have a vanity. The woes of living in a tiny apartment). I love that the label is clear, so you can actually see the product inside of the jar. The simple label just makes the jar look so classy. The night time moisturizer has the same bubblegum scent, which is heavenly and it sinks in faster than the day time cream. I love the pattern and the pop of color when you open up the box. It is an unexpected little surprise that feels elegant.

Both of these moisturizers are very hydrating and contain hyaluronic acid, which is an ingredient that the whole beauty community is raving about right now. I can see why by using this product for two weeks, my skin is more plump and a bit firmer. If I can see a difference at 24, I can imagine this working for people who are older and have fine lines. These moisturizers give my skin a healthy glow without looking greasy.

On the Derma E website right now, you can get 10% off of your order online. I have my eye on the Scar Gel for acne and stretch marks. It’s only $20 USD and I feel like most scar gels/cremes are a lot more expensive than that and also not as natural. I’d rather try a natural formula first that gives back to the world that we live in. I’ll be on the lookout for it in stores. I’ll let you know when I get my hands on it!

Valentia Night Revive Retinol Serum

It should come as no surprise that I have chosen to partner up with Valentia again on one of their amazing serums. This is the third serum that I have tried from them and I have loved every single one of them. This one is no exception. I always use a serum night and day. My skin drinks them up and they actually do something. I hardly use toners, because I don’t think they really work. Using Valentia’s Night Revive Retinol Serum, I saw results in how plump my skin looks and the little bit of acne bumps disappear. Retinol is a great in ingredient for anti-aging, but also for clearing acne.

Here’s what Valentia says about their serum:

Valentia Night Revive Retinol Serum – A transformative retinol serum that fights wrinkles and provides hydration, for visibly smoother, rejuvenated skin.

This Retinol Serum Will:
– Diminishes wrinkles
– Stimulates collagen
– Improves skin tone
– Manages breakouts
– Conditions skin

Specially selected ingredients work together to achieve optimum results.

– Retinol (Vitamin A): Works at the cellular level to stop winkles, manage breakouts, and evens out skin discoloration.

– Vitamin C: Guards skin against environmental free-radicals to prevent premature aging.

– Vitamin E: Provides intense hydration to diminish the drying effects of retinol.

– Squalane: Derived for pure olive oil to soften and condition delicate skin.

The serum sinks right into the skin and feels hydrating. It also feels very light, because the skin just soaks it right up. I am glad that the serum has a dropper instead of a pump. Having a dropper made the process of getting the right amount of serum so easy. The pump made it difficult to get every last drop. I know a bit went to waste, which made me sad. Now, there will be no waste with the dropper. More bang for your buck, since you can use all of it. There is no scent, which I actually prefer, since there are so many scented products these days. I don’t feel overwhelmed with another scented product and I know there is no perfumes to irritate my skin.

Valentia serums are so affordable at 25 to 35 USD (This one is 35) for over 1 fl oz, which is unheard of with other popular Sephora brands. Valentia serums are just as effect, if not more so. I’ve been more impressed with Valentia than my Ole Henrikson serum. Also, message me for a promo code for 20% your purchase of any Valentia product!

Smart Stuff Suncreen

I don’t know about you, but all the sunscreens I have every tried do one of three things: has a white cast, makes you greasy, or both! I have found a game changer! A sunscreen that leaves my skin both matte and white cast free. Enter Smart Stuff Sunscreen. This sunscreen is an all natural mineral sunscreen with SPF 30.

Here’s some information from Smart Stuff:

Today, what started as a basic need of two ambitious doctors motivated by the love of their autistic child has evolved into something bigger than they ever could have imagined. We become inattentive to our health needs and neglect proper eating, sleeping, and the knowledge conducive to our well-being that it leaves us to ignore so many other important parts of our life – family and health. SMART STUFF™ products allow you to take the guesswork out of choosing the right product, leaving you free to enhance and protect the moments that matter without compromising safety and health.

I love what this company stands for and that they make it easy for you to feel good about choosing and using their product. I feel totally safe using this sunscreen on my nine month old son who is constantly licking himself besides putting everything in sight in his mouth. I know that he won’t be ingesting nasty chemicals, when he does happen to suck on his foot or fist. I love knowing that his new, sensitive skin is protected naturally. It doesn’t cause any irritation on his skin and even water can irritate his! So, that’s a big thing to me that this product is so gentle.

As you can see the mineral sunscreen is chunky, because it is made with minerals to protect you naturally from the sun. As you may or may not know, mineral sunscreen causes flashback, which is why my hand appears to be white in the bottom picture. I can assure you that this causes no white cast in person and that when photos are taken at a distance, there is no whitening effect in the photos. The “whitening” effect will only appear in close up shots.

I’ve been using this as my go to facial sunscreen, which I use facial sunscreen EVERYDAY not just in the summer. This has been my go to sunscreen, because it doesn’t turn me into a ghost and it isn’t greasy. This leaves a very matte finish that I love for those no makeup days. What’s the best thing about this product? At the beach, you can easily layer on this sunscreen without turning into a greasy mess. No slippery hands during that game of frisbee that some hot guy asked you to and will give you 40 minutes of water resistance protection for when you guys take a swim to cool off. My favorite activity is swimming, so I’m happy to see that it’ll keep me protected Now, all I have to do is to remember not to swim for 90 minutes at a time.

Evian Facial Spray

Ah! Love is in the air and with it Wedding Festivities! I was lucky enough to be invited to the wedding of one of my coworkers. It happened in the beginning of September and it was beautiful even though a few things went wrong according to the bride. No one else noticed though.

When I heard that Evian Facial Spray could be used to transform your shadows into cool foil affects and intense pigmentation similar to Mac Fix Plus, I knew I HAD to try it out for myself. Let me tell you, this is a total dupe at 18 USD for 10 oz compared to Mac at 23 USD for 3.4 oz.

Here is a little about the brand:

Pure, natural skincare from the French Alps, evian® Facial Spray is very beneficial for any skin type at any age. To ensure that every canister of evian® Facial Spray contains the same extreme purity and neutral 7.2 pH that has earned decades of international respect, evian® water is tested 300 times each day.

evian® Facial Spray’s unique, balanced, mineral content and exquisitely fine micro-droplet mist allow skin to better absorb its hydration and blend and finish makeup into a smooth, natural look. This favorite of skincare and makeup professionals is affordable luxury at its best. Available in three convenient sizes, evian® Facial Spray is leak-proof and environmentally friendly –
1.7 oz. travel size (TSA approved), 5 oz. for tote or office and economical 10 oz. for use at home.

I knew that I wanted rose colored eyes to go with my borrowed blush dress for the wedding. I wanted a statement eye without being too in your face, so I went with my Manna Kadar Fantasy eye shadow that I could do a monochromatic look with. I used it as a highlighter on the cheeks and I wanted it bold on my eyes. I decided to test the Evian Facial spray. I dipped my brush in shadow and then sprayed the brush (I don’t want to ruin the pan of eyeshadow by getting it wet.). Below is the plain brush swatch and on the right side of my hand is the one using the spray.

I couldn’t believe the pigmentation and how reflective it was. It packs a punch without being too out there or intense. The foiled (Evian Facial Spray) eye is on the left and the plain shadow is on the right. You can really see how intense the color is and how it reflects the light better than the plain eye shadow.

Again, foil on the left and plain on the right. The Evian Facial Spray transformed my eye look from being powdery to intense and shiny. I am excited to try this on more of my shadows when I want a bolder look.

Evian Facial Spray also kept my makeup looking fresh all day, even with the heat. I used this quite a few times to cool down without sacrificing my makeup. I really enjoyed using this product and will continue doing so.

Evian is offering a giveaway where 3 lucky winners will receive a wedding- inspired package which includes:
• A $25.00 Amazon Gift Card
• 10 oz. evian® Facial Spray (suggested retail $18.00)
• 5 oz. evian® Facial Spray (suggested retail $12.50)
• Three 1.7 oz. travel size evian® Facial Sprays (suggested retail $21.00)
(total package — over a $75 value)
