What I Received on Mother’s Day

I am so blessed and so lucky to be recognized on Mother’s Day. It was wonderful of my mom to get me a present “from Dean” and it was really touching. I had to work my 12 hour shift on Mother’s Day, so it was nice of my mom to come by after work and spend a couple of hours with us. On a similar note, except to see a similar post for birthday presents. It’s the thought that counts, but I ALWAYS love everything that I am gifted. I am just so lucky to be surrounded by people who love me now.

Dean smashed my coffee cup a few days after moving into the new place. My mom bought me this one to replace the old one. It’s a major upgrade, because I love this one 100x better than the old one that I had. It’s blush pink and rose gold, going perfectly with my office theme colors. The saying on it is also 100% true.

These stack bracelets were also a gift from my mom. I don’t wear jewelry that often anymore, but I can see myself wearing these. They are in one of my favorite colors (purple) and look pretty on. I have a few shirts that these would look nice with. They aren’t cheap looking bracelets and you can wear them stacked or individually.

I am officially a size small now. My mom got me this shirt that says “Espresso Yourself” at Kohl’s. Even with a black bra underneath, this shirt is not see through. It is super soft and comfy. My hair is getting really long and I am growing out my bleached hair. I need to refresh my blue color but I am loving my natural dark blonde roots coming in. My natural hair looks so much darker compared to my bleached end colored in a light blue/green. It’s no secret that I have struggled with my weight, so it feels good to be a size small. A size that I have never been before. I still exercise 2 hours a week and I feel better than I have in a long time. Still considering chopping my hair off though.

Selena

Birthday & Dean Presents

I recently went over Danielle’s house to spend a few hours and brought my matching accessory Dean with me. Her mom absolutely loves him and Danielle’s grandma bought him some really cute clothes!

Danielle bought me the best present EVER!!! I haven’t even bought myself a birthday present yet and I’m lucky if my dad remembers my birthday, never mind buy me a present or a card. I’m definitely making an order to Sephora this Friday and requesting my birthday gift! I’m saving up my points for that Bareminerals kit! I might buy from MAC as well…We’ll see…well, here’s what D bought me!!!!

I love my authentic Vera Bradley Tote in Katalina Blues! It is similar to my other tote that I got from the Salvation Army awhile back. It can fit a ton of stuff and I can go to work in style with my pump. I love all of the pockets and the flower design. I just love it! I can now purge my old purse and put everything in this one. I feel a what’s in my purse coming on.

I thought the card was sweet and adorable. As I’m typing this Deano is looking on in my lap. He says that he likes the pretty card, too. It was a very nice touch.

I like this MAC wallet type thing. I’m going to use mine for holding my pads and other feminine hygiene on the go products. It’s the perfect size and very stylish.

Face Mask

I am a huge fan of face masks and I really love these cloth kinds. Red Wine?! Sign me up. This is about the only alcohol my skin will be drinking up these days. I love the pink packaging.

This lippie color is pink on me without being too pink. It is the perfect color and it actually shows up on my lips! Which not a lot of light colors do. It’s the prefect neutral pink to go with everything and I feel comfortable wearing it to work. Once I finish off my pot of orange korean gloss that is. A very neutral color for work ūüôā It is such a nice and creamy formula. It is surprisingly not really glossy, just a slight sheen to the lips that dries down matte.

I am hoping to paint my nails sometime soon and this would be the perfect color. It is a nail treatment, so it is a great base or in my case, a great standalone if the color comes out the way I’m hoping it will. If I manage to paint my nails, I’ll have a Manicure Monday up this week or next. I’m hoping I’ll be able to paint my nails. I’ll make a deal with my dad, so I can have the 30 minutes to paint and dry. I’ll clean the bathroom….I think that would be a good trade off and of course, I would clean first. Don’t want to ruin a well deserved manicure!

hand cream

I can always use a good hand cream. I’m almost out of my Victoria Secret’s Body/hand lotion in a mini bottle. This will replace it nicely. My hands really need the moisture now that I clean bottles and the dishes more than I ¬†used to. I do a lot more chores, now that my dad watches my son while I’m at work It’s a worthwhile trade off since I don’t have to worry about childcare. Honestly though, my dad still does most of the house work. It’s tough to work, nourish a child, and get little things done on little sleep.

A nice little perfume sample to round out my present. I love to try high end perfumes.

Thank you so much D! I love everything, but you know that. ūüôā

My Life, The Retail Diaries

The Retail Diaries: Orientation

Heya Aspiring Gurus!

I was super busy yesterday packing up a few of my things after orientation as well as having lunch with my boyfriend, picking up my younger brother from school, and making dinner. In there somewhere, I also caught up on all of my Youtube videos and watched Keeping Up With The Kardashions which is my new guilty pleasure show to watch when I want to forget about my own family drama. More about that in my Entertainment Weekly post. Any who, I had my orientation yesterday. I got up an hour and a half early and had my coffee. I also checked my email on my kindle fire as I washed my face for the day. I got dressed, had cereal¬†for breakfast, and put on my makeup. If anyone wants me to do the FOTD¬†posts, I will do one a week, only if it is requested though. I arrived at 8 o’clock only to be told that it starts at 8:30, so I waited for an hour and twenty minutes in the employee lounge. Yes, it was terrible and I texted my best¬†friend while waiting, only to discover that the guy I was to do orientation¬†with¬†had arrived early and needed help with his application. I also got paid for the three hours that I was there, which is an added bonus. Once I was called into the office, we both watched the 4 videos that we had to load into the dvr¬†and watch. There was one video on sexual harassment and discrimination and business¬†conduct with activity questions on the dvd, one on how to set up the store for those that have disabilities and how to help them with activity questions on the dvd, another one on the core values of the store, and the last one was on the importance on connecting with the customers with the store motto WANT: Welcome/Assist/’N/Thank. After the videos, we had to fill out some paperwork and were told what the dress code is for the store: navy blue collared shirts with black pants and black shoes. I have a 15 hour week schedule¬†up ahead and I was told that I would be filling out more paperwork and would b doing online learning in the office. I am so happy that I get paid for this! So, for the three days that I work it is a 5 hour work day. I will be working Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 1 to 5pm and I don’t have to be in dress code. I am super excited!! Due to the late time, the retail posts might not be up until the weekend. I will try to squeeze them into the mornings though. So, I have 4 posts planned for next week, but there is a possibility for more, especially if you guys leave requests!! Until the next post.

With Love,

11 Questions Tag

Heya Fellow Gurus!

I was reading this same post from http://shadowdancerx.wordpress.com/2013/07/25/11-questions-tag/ and I decided that I would answer her questions. I love doing fun tags like these, so if anyone reading this does a lot of tags, make sure you tag me. I would love to do more! I will add my own 11 questions at the end and I am specifically tagging Danielle from http://daniellec1992.wordpress.com/ to answer my questions to keep the tag moving along. Now, onto the tag!

1. What is your favorite makeup brand?

Selena: I have a few favorites in my stash, but the one brand that I keep going back to is Maybelline New York for affordable, quality makeup and The Body Shop for higher end make up. I do want to try out Mac to see what all the fuss is about, but I have yet to buy anything from them. I’m not usually a high-end makeup buyer, unless I have coupons for Clinique or if there is a sale going on.

2. What is the best gift you received?

Selena: I would have to say that the best gifts I have received was a gorgeous cat for my 11th birthday and my lovely Chihuahua for Christmas in 2008. My cat was the cheapest gift for 20 US DOLLARS, but caring for animals are always expensive. My dog was 350 at a shelter, but she had all her shots and was fixed. They are my babies in my life right now and I love them dearly.

3. What book would you recommend I read next?

Selena: I don’t really know what kinds of books you read, so I will pick a Chick Lit book that I am really loving at the moment. I am reading Just Listen by Sarah Dessen¬†and am loving it.¬†Dessen creates such heartwarming stories out of tragedies. I love her writing and need to read every one of her books. I think I’ve read three or four so far.

4. What is your favorite shampoo and conditioner?

Selena: Since I am on the hunt for sulfate-free shampoo and conditioners, these might not be my favorites for long. As a complete shampoo and conditioner set, I really love TRESemme and Herbal Essence. As shampoo and conditions that can be from different brands, my go to shampoo and conditioner that I am using right now is Paul Mitchell Awapuhi Shampoo With Hawaiian Ginger and Wen by Chaz Dean in Sweet Almond Mint for a conditioner.

5. Describe your favorite outfit.

Selena: Well, my favorite outfit hanging in my closet right now for the summer is a cute summer dress from Kmart from the Selena Gomez Dream Out Loud Line. It is color blocked with a grey tee-shirt and turning into a wonderful, colorful flouncy¬†skirt on the bottom with a flower pattern. If it’s a bit colder out, I’ll pair it with a white faux leather vest with punk studs and very fitted design. I love it, because it adds a bit of edge to the girly ensemble. The vest is from Forever21. I pair this off with an oversized pink chain necklace with pink beads and fake diamonds. For shoes, I’ll wear my white and black striped zebra sneakers with a 2 inch hidden heel with blue accents and pink laces. The shoes add major edge, but playfulness to my vibe. My personal style sense is Girly Punk or Girly Edge. I like creating my own fashion sense.

6. Do you have a lot of shoes? How many shoes do you own?

Selena: Yes, I have a lot of shoes, but I feel like I need a few more pairs. I own 2 pairs of sneakers, 3 pairs of sandals, 1 pair of knockoff Uggs, 2 pairs of heels, and 4 pairs of boots. So, that is 12 pairs of shoes total. I might be missing a pair or two, but I think I might have spring cleaned them.

7. What are your favorite stores for shopping (for anything)?

Selena: Well, my favorite stores are Ocean State Job Lot for anything is counted in beauty that I know I’ll use up before the expiration date, Kmart for those necessary purchases, clothing, shoes, and makeup; Forever 21 for clothes, accessories, and the other little items they carry; The Body Shop for certain body products, Bath & Body Works for candles, Barnes & Nobles for books since I always have gift cards, Lush for soaps and cleansers, and finally, Victoria Secrets because who doesn’t like free underwear?

8. Do you have pets? If so tell me a little about them.

Selena: I live with four animals, but only own two. I have my British short-haired cat named Shadow, who is ten years old, but still acts like a kitten. I also own a dog named Serena from Gossip Girl and she is 5 years old. I bought her from a shelter, but she was originally from Puerto Rico. I rescued her at 7 months old. She’s such a cute little thing with big bulgy¬†green eyes, but has horrid breath. I bought her with dental problems that we have been working on. I’ve been brushing her teeth for a year every day and now most of the plaque build up is gone, but there still seems like some just won’t ome off. She might need dental cleansing from the vet in a few years if it keeps up. Here are some pics to enjoy!

9. Do you prefer lipstick, lip gloss, lip stain, or lip balm?

Selena: I always have lip gloss on hand, but I really like¬†lip balm for a treatment or to put on my lips before I go to bed. No need to worry about any color smudges, just pure moisture. I don’t really use lip stick or lip stains.

10. What is your favorite food?

Selena: My favorite food would be pancakes for breakfast, wraps for lunch, and spaghetti for dinner. Forgot dessert! Dessert would be a layered chocolate cake and for a snack corn chips with spicy salsa! YUM!

11. What do you like about wordpress?

Selena: WordPress¬†is one of the easier blog sites to use and you can do all sorts of things on here that one cannot do on other sites. I like the option of pictures and spell check. I love adding photos and I am not the world’s greatest speller seeing that I learned English as a second language. Although, English is my first language now, because I rarely use the other in America. I sort of forgot most of it, besides the basics.

My 11 Questions are:

1. What area of beauty are you most interested in? Make-up, skincare, etc?
2. Are you a savvy spender or an impulse buyer?
3. Do you overspend in the beauty department?
4. On average, how much do you spend on beauty products in a month?
5. Would you rather watch Fashion Week or Participate in it?
6. What is your go-to beauty item?
7. What is your holy grail beauty product?
8. Describe your go-to outfit on a regular casual day.
9. Who would your dream boyfriend be and why?
10. What is your favorite thing to do?
11. Do you classify yourself as weird or different from the norm?

Those are my questions! You better get crackin’ on the answers. Please comment and put your url response, so that I can read your answers!
