Makeup Collection June 2019: Eyes

I am starting off my makeup collection with all of my eye products. This is everything in use and in storage. This is every single piece of eye makeup that I own. I enjoy makeup and collecting pieces of makeup. Skincare and makeup is my passion and what I love wearing, buying, and reviewing. I enjoy blogging about all of this in my free time. As far as makeup is concerned, I will not be going out and buying any this year. I already made my birthday purchase and I tend to only indulge then. Black Friday, is usually for skincare, body care, and perfume if needed. I usually like to indulge in food at Christmas, so I like to buy gingerbread houses and things like that. Any makeup that comes to me this year will be from my FitFabFun box. So, I really want to make some progress in six months with some of these items being used up.

IT Cosmetics Superhero Mascara

I have only one mascara and it is currently being used. I will be needing a mascara to replace this one, however, both my mom and my best friend has said that they have some mascara that they don’t want. So, I don’t think that I’ll need to go out and buy one. If I do need to buy some, I would buy the Sephora Lashes to Go kit that is $25 for 5 minis and a coupon to redeem a full size. That sounds like a hell of a deal. That’s like 3 years of mascara, since you can have a tube open for 6 months.

20190529_103149.jpg

I have three glitter eye shadows. One is a balm and the other two are the Stila Glitter & Glows. I would like to use these up this year. I have already hit pan in two of them. I want to use up 1 by the end of the year for sure. These are very easy to throw on. I just apply with the wand and I’m done. This is one and done liquid glitter eye shadows. I tend to want to do quick looks in the morning before work. These glitters might be a little fancy for work, but who doesn’t need a little glitter in their life?!

20190529_103250.jpg

I only have one quad and one trio. The quad is all shimmers and the formula is very pigmented and wet feeling. I really love it. The cream and brown is great for a simple eye look. The rusty red would be good for the Fall and the blue is bright for Spring or Summer. The trio has two mattes and one shimmer in the middle. This is perfect for a basic eye look for work. I’m going into the office 5 times a week soon. I am sure that I will start seeing progress on my eye shadows then. Both of these can be very quick, easy, and work appropriate.

20190529_103830.jpg

These are my two priming eye products. One is the Urban Decay Eye primer that I use with powder eye shadow that I want to last all day. The Dr. Brandt is an under eye primer for correcting dark circles that you use over your eye cream. I see it more as a makeup product than as a skin care one.

20190529_103954.jpg

These are all my eye shadow palettes. The oldest is my Smashbox palette that I have thirteen eye shadows remaining in it. I need to start putting them in my projects, but it is a bulky palette. I need to make room for it. There are 6 mattes and 7 shimmer/metallic shades in there. It is very basic for work and all the colors are very blendable. I have already hit pan in two eye shadows. For my project pan. I might rotate all my eye shadows in every week to get progress and use out of all my eye shadows. That could be super fun. The ELF palette was a free gift with purchase and again, this would be a really good palette for work appropriate looks. It has 4 matte shades and 6 shimmer/metallic shades. I’m excited to use the pink and rose gold shade. There is a nice base shade and I like the champagne shimmer. I probably won’t get much use out of the darker shades, but I won’t mind chucking this palette after I finish the first 6 shades. I am super excited about my Ciate palette that I just bought for my birthday. It has 3 pressed glitters, 4 mattes, and 2 metallics/shimmer shades. I think it is a beautiful palette for work and for going out as well. I am itching to play with this palette and make some pretty looks.

20190529_103924.jpg

I have 4 eye liners that I cannot use in my waterline. I want to use these up, so that I can buy some gel eye liners to put in my waterline and tight line. I can use the silver and the nude as an inner corner highlight. The blue and grey, I need to find other uses for. Maybe, I’ll use them as an eye shadow or to line my bottom lashes. I only use eye liner in my waterline. My hooded eyes are too hooded to use eyeliner as it was intended. My line always ends up wonky.

20190529_104049.jpg

I have 6 cream eye shadows. I am currently trying to use up a nude eye shadow stick. The other stick is in rose gold. I have a cream moss green neutral shade and a metallic purple that I need to apply sheer to use it up. I have a moussey white gold jelly eye shadow color that is beautiful. The last potted one is a gold metallic shade that is very neutral to wear. I love the ease of cream eye shadows, but I also love standard eye shadow as well. It really depends what I’m in the mood for.

20190529_103900.jpg

I have two single shadows. One is a peachy pink and the other is a blue in a stick format with a sponge applicator. I’d like to use both of these up and get them out of my collection. We shall see. I want to get use out of all of my eye shadows, because as I write this post, I seriously want to use everything.

20190529_104010.jpg

Lastly, I have two duos and they are all shimmers. The green eye shadow, I am not interested in using. I love the gold though. Once I use the gold up, I will be decluttering the green color. It is too dark for my hooded eyes. The purple and frosted white are both beautiful colors to wear together. I use the purple on the lid and the white as an inner corner highlight.

The more I think about it, the more I do want to cycle through my eye shadow products and get use out of all of them. I will work out a way by my Summer project pan. I am thinking of introducing 4 products: one for each week whether a palette or a single. I could then use one a week and one the next update choose 4 more. I’ll comment on if I declutter a shade or hit pan/used one up, but will comment very little otherwise since I’m not using any of these consistently enough to show progress on them. Hopefully, I can move some stuff up before the end of the year.

Selena

5 Out: Product Reviews

It is that time again where I finally wrote about 5 more products in my collection. I am trying to do these posts twice a month, so I am writing 10 product reviews a month. I am behind though, because I have a basket of trash collected from this year that I still have yet to review. Next year when I am concentrating on 19 things instead of 200, I am sure that I will be going through a little less product. I will be working on mostly full and full sized items. Most of it will also be makeup which takes a while to use up. I can take the time next year to finish up the reviews from this year and keep up with next year’s empties. I still use up a lot of items throughout the year, but with having a set goal this year, I was motivated to use products every day and not skimp out most of the time. I am looking forward to enjoying my collection more next year instead of focusing on using up most of my mini products.

Philosophy Purity Made Simple Facial Cleanser

For a high end cleanser, this was too basic. I expected more from this brand. It didn’t even remove all of my makeup. My Aveeno cleanser did a better job than this one. This mini was overpriced at $10 USD. I do not recommend and I will not repurchase. You can do so much better at the drugstore or Marshalls. I have to say though that it is hard to find cruelty free at the drugstore. The ones that I know offhand for skin care are Alba, Elf, and Burts Bees.

Disney HSM Super Moisturizing Body Lotion

Nearing the end of its life, this body lotion started to turn on me, which is why there is a bit melted to the side. It hardened into the side of the bottle. This was a really light gel-like body lotion that was also very moisturizing. I enjoyed the light sweet scent that I couldn’t place. It didn’t really smell of anything recognizable. It didn’t smell like vanilla, just sweet. It is hard to describe. I wouldn’t go out of my way to buy it, but it is very good.

Manna Kadar Sheer Glo Shimmer Lotion

I enjoyed mixing this stuff with my moisturizer. It gave a very subtle lit from within glow. I am starting to mix all of my liquid highlighters in with all of my moisturizers for this glow that I am enjoying so much on my oily skin. You don’t need this particular one. Any liquid highlighter will do. This one gives a nice, healthy pink glow to the skin! I have yellow undertones, so it wasn’t too much pink for my complexion. If I ran out of liquid highlighter and I saw this at the store, I would repurchase it. I do recommend this, but it is very subtle as a highlighter. It is great for those of us that wear minimum to no makeup for a healthy glow.

Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in Light 2 Vanilla

I did not enjoy this under my eyes. I think it made my under eyes dry and did nothing for concealing my dark circles. Powder tends to cling to the concealer making it look like you have dry patches of skin. I used this all over my face as a foundation. It was okay as a foundation, but nothing special. I do not recommend it and I will not be repurchasing anything from Nars as they are no longer cruelty free.

Boscia Charcoal Pore Pudding

This did not minimize the appearance of my pores, but it did purify my skin and helped pull out acne. I would not purchase, because I have a few clay masks already that do the same thing. I would purchase from the brand again, but this mask is nothing special. i think I would try their peel off mask, because I have a ton of black heads and I think that type of mask would be more effective for my skin concerns. On the plus side, this mask was very easy to remove with a warm wash cloth.

Project 200 Pan: April

April was a very light month when it came to empties. I know that I will have a bit more makeup next month, because I have a lip gloss on its last leg. I also hit pan on a couple of items this month that were very surprising to me, because they were my April makeup picks and one was completely brand new. I guess it just goes to show that I really loved using these two products last month.

lip gloss

The first thing that I hit pan on was this Marc Jacobs Lip Gloss in Sugar, Sugar. I recently got it for Christmas and only swatched it. At the end of April, I am already seeing side pan on this deluxe size. I am absolutely in love with this lip gloss formula. It isn’t sticky and it isn’t heavy. It feels perfect on the lips. It is my favorite lip gloss and I think the only formula that I would repurchase right now. I want to get a set of his glosses once I go through a few more in my collection. I’m not a fan of this nude though. It does nothing for me. My lips are too pigmented, so all you see is the gold sparkle.

highlighter

I also hit major side pan on my Benefit cream highlighter in High Beam. I even had to remove the stopper to get more of the product out. I will not repurchase, because Benefit is not CF. I do love adding this in with my moisturizer for a glowy look. I am using glowy powders for the month of May and it looks more artificial on my skin. I love these cream highlighters more for a natural glow.

We left off at 38/200 or 19% of this project completed in March. Now, we are at 40/200 with the products that I have hit pan on. Let’s see which empties count towards this month’s total, shall we?!

makeup

I finished up another 2 deluxe sized makeup items: a highlighter and concealer. I would not repurchase the Nars due to the brand no longer being CF and I wouldn’t go out of my way for the Manna Kadar highlighter lotion either. 42/200

body lotion

This body lotion was so light and gel-like. I absolutely enjoyed using it. It started to turn bad on me, that’s why there is still a bit of lotion stuck to the bottle. I mean, like literally melted on there. I don’t know what happened, but some of it turned colors and hardened to the side of the bottle. I’ve had this since Freshman year of high school, I believe. So yeah, never again will my lotions go like 10 YEARS before I use them. 43/200

skin care

I finished a sheet mask to watch tv one night and the serum in this packet is INSANE. I easily got 5 more applications (of the serum) out of the packet. I love these masks for moisturizing only, because honestly, I don’t see any difference between all of the variations. I do see increased moisture in my skin with every one though. Plus, how can you go wrong for like 50 cents a sheet mask?! I also used up this pore mask that really didn’t do anything to my pores. They weren’t smaller or cleaned of blackheads. I would not purchase that mask. It detoxified the skin, but that is it. 45/200

I am 22.5% done with this project now. I was hoping to be closer to 25% at the quarter of the year mark. That means that I am 2.5% behind so I need to catch up to that PLUS keep up with my regular pace. I need to keep at 5% every month and catch up on the 2.5%. Hopefully, I can do some catching up in May. This challenge of using up 200 products has been more challenging than I thought it would be. I am still keeping at a great pace and not falling too behind. I feel good about it. I know that I am using up my stuff. It gives me that push to apply body lotion when I feel too lazy after a shower or reapply gloss after I have eaten. I really am using this stuff up and it gives such a high when you finish something after laboring over it for MONTHS. Seriously, project panning is SO addictive. Next year, I want to do four seasonal project pans.

April Empties

Another month checked of of my calendar and we are officially in my birthday month. I am super excited to be getting my birthday treats and having a great second Mother’s day. I cannot wait for the day that Dean makes me Mother’s Day gifts from school. Speaking of school, that will be a big topic for me next year in regards to Dean. I was discussing it with his EI Speech therapist and I realized that he won’t be in mainstream classes. Since Dean is nonverbal, he will have different goals than the other kids and after kindergarten, will be separated and put in the “special” classroom with the other children that have autism, down syndrome, and mental handicaps. Part of me is glad that he won’t be made fun of and the other part of me is sad that he’ll be segregated from neurotypicals. I have very mixed and raw feelings about this right now.

If I am going to be using some stuff and pampering, this will be the month for it. I am hoping to finish off a face powder and a lip gloss this month. Anything else will be a nice bonus, because I am not focusing on anything. I am just enjoying the stuff that I have and using it up will just follow naturally. I don’t want to use stuff up for the sake of using stuff up, you know?

November Makeup Bag

We are half way through November, so I feel like I’m late coming to the party with this. I’m going to do it anyway though. I haven’t been using any of the eye makeup. I got pink eye and then caught a bit of a cold from my son. I’m feeling better, so hopefully I can dabble more into the makeup that I have set aside for the month. Before I get into this month’s picks, I’m going to recap on what happened in October.

I used this blush 5 days a week all month long and I barely scratched the surface of it. I thought for sure that I could pan it or at the very least wear down the imprint. I will bring it back for my December bag, because I really love this blush. It is very pigmented and a little goes a long way. I hit pan on my eye gloss and I found out that it wore better without eye primer. I love how this looked on my eyes. It was a nice and easy eye look that was very pretty. It paired great with bold lips. I used up my Cover FX drops. I didn’t make a noticeable dent on the Nars concealer or the Tarte lip paint. I made a bit of progress on the perfume, but I don’t mind because I love the scent on it.

I have used all of these products a few times. I have dabbled in the Hourglass 2016 Holiday Palette and used the finishing powder and blush a few times. I’m trying to use up the Caitlyn lip gloss, because I don’t like lip glosses that are pigmented in dark colors. It smears around like crazy. I only use this at home. I want to use up some perfume samples and work on my Vampire perfume that I love. I’m kinda getting sick of it though. I’ve used the eye shadow once and then got pink eye. I threw out my Benefit Gimmie Brow, because they have been on the news as having TOXIC ingredients. Could be the reason why I got pink eye. I also got rid of my mascara since I got pink eye and I had used that on my eyes that day. I’ve used the foundation once and liked it. It did flake up my moisturizer though. I’m going to try it with primer this week.

monthly

Above is what my daily makeup cabinet looks like. I have a few of my other daily supplies in there like primer, lip treatments, and a purple corrector. I like that it’s not too busy and I can easily reach in for things without knocking anything over.

What do you have in your makeup bag?

October Makeup Bag

Instead of doing project pans and I’m about to call it quits on my Pan That Palette Challenge, I thought that I would focus on 5 makeup products every month with a bonus perfume item and see what kind of progress I can make in a month on the items. This is also a way for me to rotate through my products and give them all the love that they deserve instead of just focusing on one palette. I’ll probably announce my defeat next week. I’m just tired of the same palette. I need the spice of life: variety!

October

I’m pretty happy at my first attempt of a flat lay. Everything looks pretty good on the makeup bag. I’ve used every product in the picture so far, except the eye gloss. Everything else has been used a few times. I’m going to try to wear the eye gloss next weekend. I had to be somewhere every morning this weekend and I wasn’t going to be putting on a full face at 6 in the morning. I don’t have time for that. I did manage to put on some concealer and lipstick though. Priorities people.

The liquid lipstick is definitely more on the nude/orange/brown side. It looks more brown farther away than up close, but I really love this color on me and it goes great with the nude Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Paarty. Oh, the liquid lipstick is the Tarte Lip Paint in Birthday Suit. I haven’t used either of these before, so I’m starting the month with brand new lipstick and blush. I’m hoping to hit pan on the blush and to go through about half of the lipstick. I might even wear it at work. It’s a good neutral color. Just need to remember my mirror for touch ups.

The perfume is With Love by Hilary Duff and I just love this perfume! It is such a good warm scent for Fall and I will be sad when I finish this off. It’s a 0.5 fl oz bottle and I have about 60% left. I have no goal for this except to enjoy it before it goes bad in my collection. I am almost done with my Cover FX primer oil and I just want to finish it off. It isn’t my favorite and I don’t enjoy it that much. If I finish it before the month is over, I’ll replace it with a primer of my choice that I already have in my stash.

The only thing left to talk about is my Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in Vanilla. I think I’ve used 1/4 of this already. I’m showing windows in the tube. I want to use it up as I have two other concealers in my collection and I don’t particularly care for this one. I think it’s overpriced for what it is and Nars is no longer cruelty free. I think I’ll purchase an Urban Decay concealer next. Drug store concealers have NEVER worked for me. They are way too yellow and the Nars matched me perfectly. It never oxidized either. High end concealer is where it’s at for me and you don’t need that much. I use concealer under my eyes and around my mouth where my smile lines are to brighten that area.

October

This is what my everyday (and night!) makeup shelf looks like in my medicine cabinet. It is A LOT less cluttered and I can grab everything easily. I have my every day setting powder, my night lip balm, my eye primer, and setting spray out as well as the products I chose. Oh, and mascara! Never forget mascara. I feel like at least two of the products that I’ve shown will be used up by November. In November, I will show you the progress of October and move right into the November picks.

August Sephora Play!

I am extremely happy with this month’s Sephora Play box. I feel like the subscription just got better and I got products in my shade. They actually took my skin tone in mind and chose a perfect match. this leads me to believe that Sephora Play is getting more personalized or at least they are looking at what you put as your skin tone to give you a decent match when they send out foundation or concealer samples. The theme this month is The Innovators, but I don’t think that any of the stuff that I got is really cutting edge beauty. I would just say that they are popular brands.

Apparently, the brand Makeup Geek is very upset that Sephora used that phrase on their bags. I guess, they weren’t really thinking, now were they? I didn’t even think of that brand though, when I saw the bag. I mean, it’s just a saying. Maybe they should have said Makeup Junkie. I don’t know people get so worked up over these things.

BeautyBlender Micro.Mini for $9

I’m happy to give this mini sponge a try. I’ll probably use it to bake under my eyes. Honestly though, I could have done without it. I’m not crazy about Beautyblenders. I bought one in the beginning, but I wasn’t really impressed. It fell apart on me by month 3 and I didn’t want to spend a twenty to get another. I will use this for my concealer and baking under my eyes though. It might be very useful for that or be too small and be a pain. I’m happy to try it though. Also, this little sponge almost makes up for the whole value of this box. That’s one expensive sponge!

Hourglass Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stick in Shell, 0.04 oz for $7.66

I am so exited to try the new Hourglass foundation stick. It has been years since I have used a foundation stick. Like 10 years ago long. This seems to be a really good color match for when I lose my summer tan. I only tanned a couple of shades from being outside so much this summer with Dean. I’ll probably be more tan next year when he can last longer in the sun. Although, there is not a ton of product in here, it is enough to try and see if I would like to purchase it as I am in the market for a foundation. Although, the full size of this is only a quarter of an ounce.

Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue 1.5 ml for $2.28

This perfume isn’t sweet enough for my taste, but I will use up the sample. I wouldn’t purchase it though. I wish I got the Kat Von D ones, but it’s a free sample.

Kat Von D Lock It Concealer Creme in Light 3 Warm, 0.065 oz for $7.59

I have two concealers opened right now, so I’m not going to open this one until I use up my Nars one. I use my Nars one during the work week and my Smashbox one on the weekend. I haven’t worn any eye makeup for the past two weeks. I just haven’t felt like it, since we’ve been going swimming a lot. I’m happy that I got this concealer, because I want to try something that is fuller coverage. What I have doesn’t cover my veins under my eyes. Hopefully, I’ll be able to crack into this early next year.

Caviar Anti-Aging Miracle Multiplying Volume Mist, 1.4 fl for $9

hair

I am always willing to try something to give my fine, limp hair some volume without weighing it down or making it look greasy. It says you have to blow dry after using it. If it doesn’t work without blow drying, then I’ll just use this to smooth my flyaways when I’m doing a bun or ponytail. I haven’t found anything that works to give my hair volume yet. I will be so happy if it works. I only blow dry my hair in the Winter time. Maybe, I’ll save it for then and give it the old college try.

Lancer The Method: Polish, 0.5 oz for $5.93 (based on the 8 oz)

face

The pamphlet states that this contains pumpkin! I love pumpkin! I want to try pumpkin everything. This sounds similar to the PTR pumpkin enzyme mask. I cannot wait to try it. I’ll currently using a Biore exfoliater in my shower right now, but when that’s done, I will use this one. I cannot wait to see if it smells like pumpkin pie. It is really expensive though. I don’t think I would ever purchase this. I’m more liking to get the PTR, but since they are not cruelty free, I need to find other options.

The total value of my box is $41.46 including the perfume sample. That is 4 times the value! I am so happy with this price point and the items seem more generous this time around as well. I am keeping this subscription for sure. I want to try a face mask subscription. Does anyone know any good ones?

Also, I’ve been deleting pictures off of my blog again. I try to delete old pictures and usually nothing from this year. WordPress doesn’t give you a whole lot of free space. Next year, I’ll probably will deleted everything older than 2017 besides my animal pictures. I use those a lot.

Boo-Boo

For Boo-Boo Cover-Up Concealer in Medium

Liquid Concealer: Boo-Boo Cover-Up

This shade was too orange for my complexion/skin tone, so I only used this sparingly to cover up spots and then apply my foundation on top. It does cover up somewhat but not completely. You can still see the texture of the spots. I don’t recommend this and I will not be repurchasing. I think that there are better concealers at the drugstore that actually cover spots. Once I blended the color in, it was like sheer coverage. It honestly was not worth the step of using this concealer, but I did use it up and I can say that I truly hate it. I am glad that it is gone and out of my collection forever. I just hate seeing products go to waste, so I had to use it up.
