For BareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Lipstick in Get Reddy

It is a pink magenta red color that does not look good on me, so I am glad that I used it up. It smells like a MAC lipstick, very sweet vanilla scent. It is a nice smooth pigmented lipstick, but it has a tendency to travel and move around on the lips. I enjoy a lipstick that locks into place, so I would not purchase this lipstick and I cannot really recommend it. I liked wearing this lipstick as a balm around the house and not caring about the smearing. I would never wear this color or formula out. It is too high maintenance for me.

Sparkling Grape

For Stila Lip Glaze in Sparkling Grape

I hate that I couldn’t use up every last drop and there is still gloss stuck in the tube. I felt like you had to click the pen a lot to get enough out to coat your lips. It left my lips feeling sticky instead of the glossy, slippery feeling that I like my glosses to be. I don’t like a sticky gloss. I prefer ones that are smooth. I feel like I could feel the grittiness of the glitter on my lips and it only gave my lips a hint of purple. I would no repurchase and I do not recommend unless you enjoy a sticky, gritty lip gloss. I’m glad I used my Birchbox points on this.

Textureful

For Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray

I loved the scent, but it is just the same out of all the texturizers I have bought and tried. They have all been good to me. I would not repurchase this spray. It didn’t do something amazing that the others didn’t. It performed fine for a texturizer. It made my hair look tousled, but not sticky or crunchy. I really enjoyed it. The price tag is too much for a texturizing product. The drugstore ones are just as good, specifically the Tresemme texturizing or finishing spray. I forget how they word it on their product. The scent does not justify the price either. I would buy another travel sized one if it was under $10. The travel size lasts me about 3 months of use, because I don’t use it everyday after a shower.

It’s CoverGirl

For CoverGirl Clean Professional Loose Powder in 105 Translucent Fair

This powder did an okay job keeping me matte and it lasted a long time. It is a good value for the money. I will not repurchase, because I want some coverage from my powder nowadays. I feel like it is a dupe for the Laura Mercier powder. I might repurchase this powder if I can find it in fair/light, so it can give me just enough coverage to look perfected. The lid breaks easily, so it would not be good for travel. I never dropped it and the lid just broke one day as I was putting the lid back on. I cannot get all of the powder out of the jar. There is a tiny bit stuck in there. I recommend this powder if you are looking for a nice loose powder to bake or set your face with. I enjoyed using this and I was heavy handed and it never looked cakey or powdery. I think it was around $6 at Walmart, so you cannot go wrong there.

Noble Currant

For Illume Noble Currant Soy Candle

This burned very even and it had a nice strong scent. I would not repurchase though. I feel like this would give me a headache sometimes when I burned it. I bought this off of Birchbox with my points, I believe. It is a nice small candle for small spaces. I burned this in the bathroom or on the kitchen stove, which is right next to the bathroom. I like small candles, because they are a nice size to try out a scent you are ify with before you commit to a larger size. I burned this candle in about 12 hours. I used it two days for about 6 hours each time. Technically, two weeks because I burned it on Saturday mornings. I am down to 2 candles and one is almost done. I bought the other one the other day at Marshalls.

Facial Spray

For Evian Brumisateur Facial Spray

This is not the Evian water, but it has a very similar look to Avene. The Evian facial spray was nice to have to foil eye shadows and to mist my face before going in with my serums. I will not repurchase, because I have a full size of the Avene. Also, I would rather buy a toner that actually does something for my skin. Once I am done with my other can, I will try to find something comparable at the drug store. I also have the Caudalie facial spray that I have to use before buying another one as well. I want to buy a setting spray at the drug store that is matte. Otherwise, I feel like I would use powder after using  it. I love a glow, but I am not a fan of a dewy look, since I have combination oily skin.

Sunscreen

For Nia 24 SPF 30 Lotion

I really enjoyed using this sample of sunscreen for the face. It didn’t break me out and I felt like it really moisturized my skin. I used it as my moisturizer and sunscreen in one. It was a great two-in-one product. I think I will try fluid sunscreen next or a serum. Traditional sunscreen doesn’t really work with my skin, tends to make me greasy, and have breakouts. It did not have a sunscreen scent, but it had an unpleasant scent. I would have preferred the scent of sunscreen over this one. This has SPF 30, but you really only need SPF 15 to protect your skin. I’m happy with SPF 30 personally, but more like 50 to 100 for my son’s new, fair skin. I want him to be as protected as possible. I even used sunscreen on him as a baby before I knew that you aren’t supposed to before six months old. This is also really expensive sunscreen.

Lippie Stix

For ColorPOP Lippie Stix in Bound (Glossy)

This lipstick dried down true to color, but when you first apply it, it is a bright Barbie pink. Barbie pink is not flattering on my lips, even when I do have a tan. I used this up around the house, because I love the formula. When it dries down, it is a dusty rose color. I would love to have one in a more nude color. I will repurchase once I use up more of my collection. I cannot justify a makeup purchase if I do not use up what I have, even though I do not have that much. I love using up items and the high that comes with it is fantastic. I like the ColorPop brand and I think it is cruelty-free. I want to try to purchase cruelty-free whenever I can.

Lil’ Biscuits

For Gerber Graduates Lil’ Biscuits in Vanilla Wheat

Dean loved these biscuits a lot and I loved that they weren’t messy at all. It is made with whole grains instead of bleached flour. The main drawback to this treat is that it has two grams of sugar per 7 grams of biscuit. If the biscuit is 7 grams and it contains 2 grams of sugar, than it is really only 5 grams worth of the good stuff. It’s like a fourth full of sugar and that is just a little too much for how small they are. I will not repurchase  this biscuit again, but I will be buying more stuff from Gerber. I am going to buy some fruit and veggie packets, because Dean does not get enough fruit and veggies a day. He drinks about 4 ounces of V8 V-Fusion a day mixed with equal parts water. The flavor I get is really sweet, even with cutting it down with water.

Sample Wednesday: Nourish Organic

For Nourish Organic Moisturizing Cream Face Cleanser

What It Is: An organic cleanser that hydrates the skin without over-drying the skin, leaving it dry and tight.

Key Ingredients: The only ingredients that the packaging lists are aloe vera, cucumber, and watercress. It also mentions that it is chemical free, cruelty free, and concern free.

How It Feels/Smells/Looks: It smells unpleasant like Ivory soap. This feels so oily and unpleasant on the skin. It creates soap scum on the face after rinsing the product off. It is very watery like liquefied bar soap.

Why I Like It: The only thing that I like about the product is that it is cruelty free. This cleanser is not for all skin types. If you have oily skin like I do, I would stay away from this product. It creates an icky residue on the face that takes another cleanser to get it off. It is really like soap scum. Maybe that is the moisturizing qualities? It is not a pleasant sensation. This stuff is also so watery that it slips through my fingers before I can really apply it to my face. I just really disliked this and was really happy to see it go. It felt good to be rid of something that was giving me headaches to use as well as a bit of irritated acne. Adios!
