June Birchbox

I love the watercolor pastel box this month! It is very pretty and another one that I will be saving. I’ll be going through my make up collection to purge a few things. Is anyone interested in seeing that? I think I’m going to take pictures and do a post on it. I’ll probably bring it to work for a few friends to pick over. Danielle, when I do the post and you definitely want some of it, let me know and I’ll set it aside for you. 🙂

Anyways, here’s my June box, which I’ll let you know now I LOVE it.

Texturizing spray

Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray, 1 oz for around $5 USD

I love texturizing sprays, which I find are different from dry shampoos. I think they work better than dry shampoos. Even though, they technically are dry shampoo, I think they are a hybrid of some sort. I’m currently using Rusk texturizing spray, but I cannot wait to use this one as well. I see it all over Youtube, so I am happy to have my hands on this product. It will go into my beauty bin for now to use when I use up the Rusk.

Marcelle BB Cream in Golden Glow, 7 ml for $4.20 USD

This is an okay size to sample. I wish it was bigger though. This only has enough for two or three face applications. I like the glow that it gives the skin, but I would definitely powder afterwards. I powder after apply sunscreen. I like being glowy, not shiny/greasy looking. This stuff is expensive, so I don’t think I’ll be buying it anytime soon.

Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Mask, 1 oz for $4.50 USD

As you can see by the picture on the right, this product is a welcome repeat offender. I love that it is now in a squeeze tube, which makes the product easier to use. This tube is enough for two to three masks for my hair. I do a mask about once a month, but now that I bleached it, I think I’ll do it once every week or so. This could be in July empties. I like this product and the scent. I won’t be buying it though.

Cleanser

Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser, 1 oz & 1 cloth for $11.32 USD

I’m so excited to be receiving these two products in my Birchbox. The potential of getting this product in my box is what made me sign up for it in the first place and now, I am finally sampling it. It is a brilliant moment for me. If I really liked this product, I could see this replacing my GlamGlow cleanser. Now, I just have to sample Emma Hardy’s Cleansing Balm. Anyone else love sampling highend products?! It’s an addiction of mine.

Benefit Gimme Brow Brow Volumizing Fiber Gel in 1, 1 g for $8 USD

This was my chosen sample this month. It is also my first brow product EVER. Yeah, I never got on that train. I’m excited to try this product. I need to get my eyebrows threaded first. I’m hoping to get it done next weekend. This seems like a great product and I love trying out new makeup.

That’s my box this month!

With Love,

Selena

Sweet Hair Mask

For Wen Sweet Almondmint ReMoist Intensive Hair Treatment

What it is:

A concentrated treatment that helps to strengthen and repair the hair.

Key Ingredients:

Water, cetyl alcohol, cetearyl alcohol, glycerin, shea butter extract, Matricaria flower extract, wild cherry bark extract, rosemary leaf extract, aloe leaf juice, sweet almond oil, jojoba seed oil, coconut oil, wheat protein, citric acid, menthol, fragrance, limonene, linalool.

How it feels/smells/looks:

A thick, white cream/balm texture that smells like Vic’s vapor rub with an undercurrent of sweet nuttiness, which I’m guessing is the almond oil. Since it was so thick, you need quite a bit to coat all of your hair strands.

Why I like it:

This is a once a week treatment (that I used more around once a month) that you put in your hair after shampooing. I would put this in my hair at night, put a sleeping cap on, and rinse out in the morning. It left my hair feeling soft, but now I wonder how drying it was with alcohol being the 2nd and 3rd ingredient. I enjoyed the hair mask while it lasted, but I will not be repurchasing. I found a scalp mask at Lush that I like better for less and more product. I think it’s double the product. It’s called Roots and I use that once a month as well, but it goes on before shanpooing. This hair mask was nice, but the ingredients list is troubling to say the least. Wen is more trouble than it  is worth for me. The products are usually great, but the customer service leaves much to be desired.

Empties: The March Edit

Heya Aspiring Gurus!

It is that time again when I say goodbye to the old and welcome in the new. Coming up this month, I have renewed my Birchbox subscription. It is so inexpensive and I missed getting new bits every month. They are easy to use up and I enjoy trying new things. Plus, my new thing is not buying something until I use all of what I have up. So, no more lotion until I use up all of mine. It helps with decluttering and I hope to have even more empties next month.

The Final Verdict: For Briogeo…Mask

For Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Mask

Hair Mask

What it is: A deep conditioning hair treatment for dry, damaged hair.

Key Ingredients: This is chalkful of powerhouse nourishing oils, including avocado, sweet almond, agran, and rosehip. It also contains added vitamins for strengthening strands.

How it feels/smells/looks: The treatment feels and looks like regular medium thick white generic conditioner, but it smells like an almondy, coconutty vacation with a rosy lingering scent after rinsing.

Why I like it: While it failed to replace my Wen as a deep conditioner, I like it to replenish strands once a week after using a deep cleansing shampoo on top of my regular conditioner. I even used it to nourish strands between washings and as a defrizzer.
