January Empties

Remember when I said that I would be doing a new format for my empty series? Well, here it is, the moment you all have been waiting for. I decided to show my empties in group photos and flat lays to be able to store more pictures of my products rather than have everything in a single photo. It makes more sens to me this way, since I am a reviewing channel and have been deleting a ton of photos to make room for more photos. I hope you all like this new format. Give me a like if you do!

I will be posting my update post on my Project 200 Pan soon after this one, which will show you how many out of this 45 I will be counting towards my 2018 challenge. I might be adjusting the challenge and make it harder. I guess, it all depends upon how much of this stuff I am using up.

September Empties

I have not counted my empties beforehand so it will be a complete surprise to see how many products I have used up this month. I am happy to have finish at least one full sized item this month that I can remember and I am really proud of myself. It was a big 2 oz night time face cream that I didn’t particularly enjoy. So, even if I only finished up like 20 things, I feel like I have accomplished so much more. Let’s get into seeing what I used up this month instead of continuing this long intro.

24 products empty isn’t a bad number to end the month with. I already have four or five empties in my basket right now and I’m sure I’ll have more soon. It seems like some things are running out all at once, but I have backups. I’m hoping that October brings a solid 20 product month as well. I’m usually very happy with using up 20 products a month. I know that may seem like a lot to other people, but I have a ton of deluxe and sample sizes that need to be used up. I’m forever adding to the collection with my Sephora and Walmart beauty boxes. I’m getting there though. I don’t have quite as big of a stash as I used to.

Drinkie Post

For Swiss Miss Marshmallow Hot Chocolate

food

Although Nestle is my favorite, Swiss Miss is not a bad second. I just think that this brand is a bit powdery tasting and why do all the marshmallows melt instantly? I like to have my hot chocolate with boiling water. I do not add milk, since I do have a milk sensitivity. I enjoy hot chocolate mostly in the Winter time, but I’ve been known to have a few iced hot chocolates in the summertime. I do enjoy this hot chocolate and have already repurchased it in a huge size, since it was on sale. I tend to buy what is on sale or what I have a coupon for. My favorite is stacking a coupon on top of a good sale.

Nestle Hot Chocolate

For Nestle Mini Marshmallows Hot Chocolate

mix

I really enjoyed this hot chocolate and I still have another box of it as well. It is the best tasting hot chocolate and it doesn’t have a weird artificial sweetener aftertaste. The marshmallows dissolve after a few seconds, so there is no real benefit of having them in there really. I will repurchase this again and over and over. That is how good this hot chocolate is. There isn’t anything more I can say about it, except it’s the best I’ve found at the supermarket.

June Empties *Day 5*

I only have a handful of empties this month. I need to try harder to use up the things that I have instead of being afraid to be without it. If I use it up, I can repurchase it if I loved it so much. They are only things after all. I think July will be a heavier month for me. I’m concentrating on using up sample packets and items that are almost finished up. I’m also clearing my makeup collection this month, so maybe I’ll have some empties there as well.

Does anyone else have a hard time finishing up stuff?

Well, those are my 5 empty products this month. Does anyone else use up this little a month? Is this considered normal? My goal for July is 15 product empties. Can I do it? Find out in August!

Chocolate Peppermint

For Starbucks Hot Cocoa in Peppermint

drink

What it is:

A dark, velvety cocoa with the pleasing tingle of peppermint.

Key Ingredients:

Sugar, cocoa, peppermint candy, vanilla powder.

How It Looks/Smells/Tastes:

This was way too dark for my taste. Instead of being velvety, I thought it was powdery tasting. It smells like peppermint bark and in your cup, it looks like dark chocolate with little candy cane pieces floating throughout it.

Why I Like It:

I liked the decorative tin and this was 5 USD for seven servings, which is less expensive than 6 of the VIA packets. I also really wanted to try a Starbucks hot chocolate. The end result was pretty disappointing. I did not enjoy this hot chocolate and I would not buy or recommend it. I do recommend the K cups, especially the caramel hot chocolate. Those were delicious compared to this. I like that the cocoa is sourced ethically, but I did not like this one. It was a struggle to finish it.

Empties: The March Edit

Heya Aspiring Gurus!

It is that time again when I say goodbye to the old and welcome in the new. Coming up this month, I have renewed my Birchbox subscription. It is so inexpensive and I missed getting new bits every month. They are easy to use up and I enjoy trying new things. Plus, my new thing is not buying something until I use all of what I have up. So, no more lotion until I use up all of mine. It helps with decluttering and I hope to have even more empties next month.

Belated TFV: Maxwell House

For Maxwell House International Cafe Suisse Mocha

Manicure

PS: I used this nail polish again. Nail Selfie!

What it is: A naturally and artificially flavored cafe style beverage mix that is decaffeinated, sugar free, and low in calories.

Key Ingredients: Nondairy creamer, decaffeinated instant coffee, cocoa, nonfat milk, aspartame, and salt.

How it smells/looks/tastes: This smells like hot chocolate mix that Swiss makes. It tastes like an adult version of hot chocolate, too. The powder even has chocolate shavings in it.

Why I like it: I did not particularly like this mix and I would not buy this kind again. I do not like that it contains aspartame and the product tastes like watered down hot chocolate. I expected it to taste rich and flavorful, but it did not. I have had other flavors that I have loved, but this fell short. I mix two rounded spoonfuls of the powder with 8 ounces of boiled water and putting more spoonfuls did not help with the flavor at all. I would say pass on this flavor and to choose a different one like hazelnut. I have been enjoying that one. They are 2.99 USD a container, but I use it as a treat and it lasts me a month or two.

Selena
