Sample Wednesday: MJCARE

For MJCARE Aloe Essence Mask

Aloe mask

What it is: A moisturizing sheet mask that soothes and relaxes your skin, while keeping it clear and elastic.

Key Ingredients: This contains many great, good for your face ingredients like water, aloe leaf extract, portulaca oleracea extract, witch hazel water, and glycerin. It also contains some potentially irritating and drying ingredients such as fragrance, propylparaben, and methylparaben. They really could have done without the added fragrance, which made the product smell overpowering.

How It Smells/Feels/Looks: This does not smell like aloe, because it smells really perfume-y. I wish it smelt more like aloe, a nice fresh minimal scent. The face mask feels just as refreshing as the last one and it still makes me look like a serial killer. This one was stickier than the seaweed one. I think it is stickier, because aloe is naturally gooey.

Why I Like It: While I did not find that the aloe was as skin clearing, I did think that it moisturized a lot better. It soothed the irritated acne that I did have at the time, but I think it also clogged my pores a bit, which is why I would not repurchase this particular kind. So, out of the four things it did claim, it only achieved three. I still think that this mask was worth it. Also, the serum took a bit longer to absorb into my skin, most likely due to the tackiness.

Belated Sample Wednesday: Lush

For Lush Tea Tree Water Toner Water

tea tree toner water

What it is: This toner is antibacterial and keeps oiliness in check with juniper and grapefruit.

Key Ingredients: This contains many great ingredients like diluted tea tree oil, grapefruit, juniper berry, and it contains naturally occurring bad ingredients like parabens commonly found in fruit and essential oils. I do not know why it contains perfume. This product could do without it to be healthier for the  face and potentially less irritating. This toner is also vegan friendly.

How It Smells/Feels/Looks: The toner is a clear liquid that smells very strongly of citric acid. You can smell the earthiness of the tea tree and the slightly floral notes of the juniper. The toner feels refreshing and light on the skin.

Why I Like It: I love the tingly, tightening sensation it gives the skin. That being said, I did not notice a difference between this toner and others that I have used before. Well, the only notable difference is that this does not cause any redness, which other ones do cause. I’m still looking for the perfect toner, but I would love receiving this as a gift. I do not think that I would repurchase just because there are so many other products I want o try at Lush next.

First Impressions: Befine

For Befine Food Skincare Daily Moisturizer With SPF 15

moisturizer

What it is: A daily moisturizer with SPF 15 and a healthy dose of anti-aging pomegranates.

Key Ingredients: I do not like that the ingredients are not listed on the bottle nor did it come with paperwork to tell me what was in it. I hate having to look it up online.

How it feels/smells/looks: It is a regular white lotion that soaks right into the skin. Upon application, skin appears greasy, so give it a few minutes to soak it in before applying makeup/foundation.

Why I like it: I really like that the lotion already had SPF in it, so I did not have to worry about applying separate SPF to the face. That really saved me time (not money, though, because in the summer, I add extra SPF anyway). I like the ingredients in this lotion, but I do not like the greasy feel to my skin afterwards. I would not purchase it, because of the greasiness, since my skin is already oily.
