A Mermaid Worthy Manicure

Happy Manicure Monday ladies!

I absolutely love how this manicure came out! I painted my nails last Tuesday and it didn’t start to chip noticeably until about Friday. That is a long time with traditional polish. I got so many compliments and the nails went really well with my new hair color.

I put down one coat of the Julep Nail Color in 2282 American Beauty Amy and then I put down one coat of the L’Oreal Glitter Polish in 605 Sparklicious. It catches the light beautifully and it is such an icy Winter combination. I realize that it isn’t Spring appropriate, but it complimented my hair, so I don’t care. I think this week I might so the light lavender Julep nail polish again for a more Spring manicure.

I love this color blue by Julep. This is two coats of Julep’s American Beauty in Amy. It is a muted gray blue that is very flattering with my skin tone. I did notice that it is the same color as the stalls in my work’s bathroom though. lol. I can see getting a lot of use out of this color, because it applied very smoothly and dried down fast. I look forward to trying out that orange one now, which I think will be perfect for Summer. I honestly do think that I will finish most of these nail polishes by the end of the year. I am motivated!

#ManicureMonday

I actually got to paint my nails and toe nails this past Monday! I am going to be painting my nails every Monday or hopefully every Monday. I might miss some just to give my nails a break. They get a bit brittle if I paint them too many weeks in a row. I think every three or four weeks, I will do a bare week and cuticle cream every night. That usually keeps them in tip top shape.

In different lighting, my nails can look more lavender or more pink. They are mostly pink, but look lavender in natural lighting. I am using Julep’s IT GIRL nail polish in Carly. It is also a nail strengthener, which I appreciate. At least, it isn’t making my nails as brittle as other polishes. I really enjoy this nude color for the winter and spring time. I will be getting most of my use of it during that time. It might look good with a tan, but it is way too light for Fall. Danielle bought me this for my birthday one year and I just tried it now and I am in love. I wish it was a bit more lavender though.

Manicure Monday

This week’s manicure emptied my bottle of Nicole by OPI Roughles Nail Polish in On What grounds?. I really loved this polish and cannot believe that I have finished up a nail polish. It was getting thick towards the end and I could barely get enough product on my nails to do one last manicure. It’s a good thing that Danielle gave me her pink one, but it seems like that one only has one or two uses left too. It’s not as thick, but there is not much left in the bottle at all.

This was after one easy coat and one hard to get anything on the brush coat. I love texture polishes, when done right, two thin coats dry really quick and last at least seven days looking perfect. It is the easiest polish for me to wear at the moment with a 16 month old. He doesn’t give me much time to myself, but when he does, I love to have a quick manicure and pedicure. Yes, I even use texture polish on my toes!

Sweet Manicure Monday

Hello Beauties!

I am back with my first Manicure Monday of the year. Yes, I know it’s Tuesday, but I am still going to put my post up. I love a sparkly blue this time of year and the Rimmel London Sweetie Crush in 002 Blueberry Whizz reminds me of snow and glass slippers. This is my manicure with one thin coat and second thicker coat. I could have done a third for pure opaqueness, but I feel that would have been really thick. I just love this color and I cannot wait to paint my nails next week. Maybe, I’ll paint my toe nails this color, too….

Rock The Look

Heya Aspiring Gurus!

manicure

I have a rare Manicure Monday for all of you to enjoy today! I have had a crazy Labor Day Weekend and I am so sad to see it end. At least, I have today to enjoy and only a four day work week until the next day. My friend Danielle gave me this nail polish on Saturday, where we swapped beauty and other things that we didn’t want/like. I absolutely LOVE this nail polish, so thank you Dani! I love textured polishes and this one is no different. It is barbie doll pink with flecks of black and red glitter throughout. This took me only 10 minutes or less to apply two coats of it. I love quick polishes and I cannot wait to try the other textured nail polish that she gave me. Oh! I almost forgot! This is OPI Nicole Roughles in Rock The Look.

Shout Out to Cello’s Tears

Heya Aspiring Gurus!

As you can tell, today will not be a new manicure. My nails need a week break  and removing that glitter was a pain. I still have glitter on my hands that will need a second scrubbing tonight. So, I thought that I would do an author spotlight. Since I get contacted by quite a few authors for reviews and such, I thought that I would do a shout out or an awareness about an author’s upcoming release. If you like this new post and want to see more of these, please click the like button, so that I know you want to see more of these and are not bothered by them. I know some people do not like these kinds of posts. I personally love them and I love talking to up and coming new authors.

The author spotlight today is on Geza Tatrallyay and he can be found at Gezatatrallyay.com. On his site, you first see his professional head shot and interesting biography. I always love reading biographies and knowing where authors have come from. Plus, I can’t write biographies to save my life. I need to spend more time on writing them. There is a tab to read about his books and where to buy them and another tab about his upcoming events. Although, knowing that is only helpful if you live in France. OMG! He is coming to Vermont in July! Is it Vermont in America?! Please, don’t disappoint me. There is also a contact tab and another tab that leads to his blog, which is intriguing. If you haven’t yet clicked the link, here is what the author had to say about one of his recent events:

“I was very honored to be invited to read several of my poems from my soon-to-be-published collection, CELLO’S TEARS, at the prestigious Marché de la Poésie in Bordeaux last night (March 11). I read a number in both the original as well as in French translation and talked a bit about my views on poetry. A great event!

I will be looking forward to the release of Cello’s Tears, if it is also released in an English version. I don’t know French, but the French do have a lovely way with words. I cannot wait to get my hands on this collection of poetry! I am so glad that I discovered this author and can talk to him about the release of Cello’s Tears, which should be happening in June 2015.

Will you be looking for it on your book store’s shelf?

Manicure Monday

Heya Aspiring Gurus!

Happy Tuesday! I know, I know! I am so bad at posting things online, but I started a new job and really have less time for blogging on the weekdays. So, look for more weekend posts. I am going to try to at least post up two a week. I usually write about five a week on average, less or more depending on my creative juices. I will always post at least twice a week, though. I promise.

I love OPI Liquid Sand in NLM4713024 (purple). I love the results that I get with this polish. I like the transition into more Fall appropriate colors and I chose a polish that would last a week without chips for sure. I finally grew my nails out to a long length and they are beautiful. I cannot wait to share my weekly update with all of you about my job and what I have been up to recently.

Manicure Monday: A Touch Of Glitter

Heya Aspiring Gurus!

I have a quick Manicure Monday post for all of you. I know that I am late, since it is Tuesday afternoon. I also wanted to let all of you out there know that I have a new job!! I got hired at Maphre Insurance Company in the accounting department. I am going to be cashing people’s checks to the company and opening mail! I am super excited at getting a desk job, where I can drink COFFEE! Oh, mg! This is the best thing to ever happen to me. I am going to have a career. Those three college years are not going to waste. My job will be full time with benefits. That means paid holidays and vacations, people! I am so excited to be finally starting my real life. I’m even shop looking at houses, since I’m planning to save 5K in a year in order  to put a down payment on a fixeruper. There are so many cute places to live. Do you want to see the contenders? Would you like to see house hunting posts? Let me know!

So, back to what this post is all about! I painted my nails with Sinful Shine with Gel Tech in 1219 Alfresco and used OPI Last Friday Night as a glitter top coat. It makes my nails look super girly, but also really chic as well. I love the way these polishes look together. I really loved them. Well, here are the pictures!
