Project Polish March Update

I am super late with my March Update, but I promise that April’s update will be in the beginning of May like it is supposed to be. I only used one polish this month, because I only did one manicure. March was super busy for me and a struggle to find any time for my nails. First world problems, I know.

nail polish

I took this at an angle with my camera, but the bottle was straight. With one measly manicure, I did make noticeable progress, so I am pretty happy about that. So far, I have done a manicure and pedicure in the month of April and will be doing a second set this week. Usually, my pedicure lasts the month, but the polish combo from Manicure Monday chipped off my toes as fast as my fingers. I love painting my toes, so I don’t mind. It is going to be hell removing that glitter though.

April Makeup Bag Monthly

I just wiped off my April eye shadow pick. lol. I totally forgot that I was wearing eye shadow. That is how comfortable it is. I also love the shade with my new hair. Anyway, it is that time again when I swap out my March makeup bag with my April makeup bag. I chose 5 makeup products every month and the bonus 6th product is always a perfume that I am trying to move through in my collection. Let’s recap on March’s bag:

IMG_3626

I put a good dent in the perfume. It was full before and now I finished up a fourth to a third of it. I totally used up the sheer glow lotion. I have been all about the glowy look for the past three months now that my skin is more combo than oily. I am still working on the pore-fessional and I have to say, I am not loving it. It is okay, but as soon as I put anything from powder to foundation on top of it, it starts to peel up. I am so close to being done with that lip gloss! I am going to get it back out in the warmer months, because it has a really strong cooling sensation that I wasn’t a fan of this past snowy month. I love using the MUFE blush as an eye shadow. It is super pretty and easy to use for a one shadow look. I threw out the crayon when I dropped it on the bathroom floor at work. I couldn’t bring myself to sanitize and use it.

April

I have my Marc Jacobs Sugar, Sugar lip gloss that I have been loving in my April makeup bag. One application lasts until lunch at my work. If I am high maintenance enough to wear a liner underneath, I brought my Victoria Secret nude one to work with me. I am working on my deluxe sample of the Black Opium perfume that I got with my Sephora points. I have an Hourglass foundation stick and a foundation sample for when I use up the rest of my Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in Vanilla that I have been using as a foundation. It was too creasy under my eyes to use as an under eye concealer. I have a duo chrome cream eye shadow that shifts from silver to a yellow gold. I also have Benefit’s Highbeam if I still want a glowy look then I can mix this in or use it to highlight.

The point of my make bags isn’t to use up my makeup, although I do love it when I do. The point is to cycle through my makeup and make sure that I am using everything evenly. I am going to be starting to put my palettes in my makeup bag. I am always forgetting to add them! Four months in a row. LOL. It’s okay. I’ll choose my favorite one for my birthday month.

Project 200 Pan: March Update

I actually did better than I thought that I would do for March with 27 empties total. I enjoy using up my products and I usually target a mix of fuller and near empty products to make them go faster. Hair care products always take forever for me, because I rarely wash my hair. Even styling products take a while, because I don’t use them daily. Having thin hair that is a bit past shoulder length doesn’t leave a lot of hair to cover with product. As my hair continues to grow longer, I am sure styling products will be faster. I also don’t go through a ton of body wash or soap, but I’m constantly switching things up. I’m sure that doesn’t help. lol The current count sits at 31/200 15/100% done.

body

1 Body peel is done here and that is because I finally threw it out. It is WAY too old to use now. The negative side to being a hoarder. 32 items.

hair care

3 hair care products: 2 hair masks and 1 shampoo. I am pretty proud of myself, because it takes forever for me to use up hair products. The shampoo was on it’s last legs and each pot was about 1/4 full. I used them up in 4 weeks to treat my hair before bleaching it. I ended up bleaching my hair twice and toned it grey. I will be sharing photos soon. I just have to get good pictures of myself and I hate selfies. lol 35 items

makeup

1 makeup brush that I am decluttering because I don’t like it and don’t use it. 36 items.

skincare

1 packet of exfoliating cleansing wipes and 1 deluxe sized cleanser out of the way bringing my total to 38 items used up this past March. I need to get more wipes, because I love to use them when I am lazy and I am almost in need of cleanser. I don’t have that much left at all. This post is actually a nice reminder that I can do a little beautylish haul and buy some The Ordinary Serums, cleanser, and wipes. I am obsessed with that site. It has so many brands and free shipping over $35.

38/200 items done and that is 19% completed. I achieved the 4% increase that I wanted for this month, so I am very happy and pleased. I think that I could do a big 8% in April. I am not saying that I have a ton right now. I think I currently have like 2 empties, but I see so many almost empty products that I think I can say with positivity that I can get that 8%. There are a few makeup items that are looking empty, so I am hoping to clear them out and open up some fresh products. I am no where nears any lip empties, so I don’t think that I will have any. I am currently working on a new Marc Jacobs gloss that I am loving and enjoying. Next month, I will probably have a lip empty. There are a few things nearing the end, but I wanted something new to play with this month.

March Empties

Another month gone and another month’s worth of empties. We are getting very close to my birthday month and my vacation month. My dad is having foot surgery and I will be taking a month off of work to take care of him and my son. This year is really flying by. Why couldn’t high school have flown by as much as time seems to do nowadays? Seriously. Time goes by so slow when you are young with no money and when you actually grow up and can spend, time flies by so much you don’t really get the chance to do what you want to do. April starts my lifestyle changes. I have new hair (coming up soon), new exercise routine, and new meal planning. I hope that I stick with it.

I am trying to review the products in my empties that I want to review before throwing them all out. That is why my empties have been late recently. I currently have a ton of older products that I used up that I have yet to write reviews on. I want to review anything new coming in, so I can tackle that empties bucket without adding more to it. You will probably be seeing a shit ton of reviews, especially when I start up college. Reviews are super easy for me to throw on my blog when they are already typed up. 🙂

March Reads

Well, I am ahead on my goal for this year, which is a good thing. I didn’t realize that my first semester of online college is on July 2nd! So scary to be so close to starting it up again. I think I am currently a month ahead of my reading goal which is 24 books this year. I have to wait for my new degree audit to go through to see what classes I will be taking. As soon as I have more info, I will be sharing it with all of you.
Jem and the Holograms, Vol. 4: Enter the StingersJem and the Holograms, Vol. 4: Enter the Stingers by Kelly Thompson

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I didn’t care for the weird art that popped up in this one, but the storyline was much better in this one. When I finished the book, I wanted to read the next one to see how things would turn out for the girls. This is a guilty pleasure read and a good break time book at work. I remember reading comics as a kid and a few graphic novels in high school, but this is the first time (not literally, this is the fourth installment after all.) that I have enjoyed a graphic novel series again. It is not my typical faire but I could see picking up others (not from this series) and reading them if I needed a break from reading traditional books. I recommend this series and specifically this one.

Saint AnythingSaint Anything by Sarah Dessen

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

It has been a hot minute since I last read of Sarah Dessen book. I was getting tired of her stories, which all seemed to be the same story rehashed over and over again. Saint Anything was different though. It rekindled my love for her writing style again. The theme of the book also struck home for me. Back when I was in a relationship, I felt invisible and that no one could see me and what was happening to me. All the wrongs that went unrighted. I could relate to the main character. It wasn’t a far out tale that happened to other people. It was so realistic to me and I related to most of the events that occurred in the book. I cannot wait to read more of Sarah Dessen’s books again. I am betting that the more recent books are better than her earlier works that I grew so tired of. She feels fresh again. It is funny how an author can be so outdated one minute and then current the next. She has redeemed herself in my eyes and I look forward to reading more.

Shattered Rose (Winsor, #1)Shattered Rose by T.L. Gray

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Eh. I didn’t care for it, but it was a good read. I wanted to finish it to know how the story ended, but I am glad that I didn’t pay for this. The religious streak running through the book didn’t blend with the story at all and was only brushed on at the very end. Left a bad taste in my mouth. I skipped through most of the book finding it very boring and not very exciting but for a few parts. I don’t recommend it. I would try another book by this author. I see potential. If you like character development stories, I think you might enjoy it more than me. I enjoy books that are more action filled less reflective.

Haul, Lifestyle

Just Dean Hauling

I told you all that I have been hauling a lot due to tax season and Dean’s monthly stipend. So, I thought that I would share some of this hauling with all of you. There will be tons of hauls going up this month and probably the next. I don’t take pictures of EVERYTHING that I buy, but they have been piling up lately. I also love a good haul and I know others do as well. I recently put in a Macy’s order for clothes for Dean, a Hautelook order for me, and an Amazon order for Dean as well. I bought 4 cute outfits from Walmart today, but I forgot to take pictures before throwing them in the wash. When they are dry, I will take some pictures, because they are too cute not to share.

Paw Patrol Bedding Set

I bought Dean this Paw Patrol 4 piece bedding set from Walmart for about $40. Dean loves it and I am super happy about the quality. I still need to get him something thicker for the next Winter, but this is a great bedding set for the warmer months that are fast approaching. I don’t want anymore snow.

toy

I bought this big wooden block puzzle at Savers for a few dollars. It is something simple for Dean to master and easy for his little hands to pick up. His ABA therapist has a different animal puzzle that he loves, so my boy definitely loves animals.

I paid less than $15 at Walmart for both of these books. One was $8 and the other $5 I think or somewhere around there. Dean loves Paw Patrol so this was a find at the Walmart that I go to. The book section is always in disarray and picked over by the time I get to it at the end of the week. He really loved the Love book from the doctors and I was able to find this love book which is similar.

toy

I bought this at Savers and it has not been a hit so far. His ABA therapist has some thing similar, so I thought that he would like it. Maybe when he gets a little older or has a bit more patience for a toy like this.

toy

Another purchase at Savers that Dean actually likes. His ABA therapist has the exact same toy, which is why I bought one. I like to have toys that he likes at home that his therapist also uses, so I can carry on that teaching and learning process for him. He loves the animal sounds and I am starting to see a pattern of him loving anything that has to do with animals.

I don’t like to write a huge haul post, so I always wait until I have 5 items for my posts. I might make my lap top purchase a separate post, just because I have so much to say about it. I still have to take some decent photos of it as well. I hope you are all having a great weekend. I’m sorry for not posting everyday like I have been doing lately. I never meant for my blog to be an everyday thing, but it has been such a relaxing activity for me lately. I have been making time for it. When I am too busy, I don’t post. I just wanted you guys to know that. The dogs went to the vet yesterday, so I just didn’t feel like posting afterwards. I go to a vet school clinic, so the vet bill was amazing. It was $109 for both dogs that includes two physicals, two 3 year Rabies, 2 3 year distemper, 2 6 month supply of Hartguard, 2 6 month supply of Netgaurd, 2 nail trimmings, and miscellaneous fees. I have to wait until April 1st to book Serena’s dental cleaning which was quoted between $250 and $350 max. Very happy with their clinic. Makes it affordable to have pets again.

Makeup Monthly: March

I missed this series in February, so this post will be a long one. I was so busy in February with studying for my test and then, my family got sick. It has been a busy month with work updates and I am on call tomorrow, because of this Northeast storm. My work is anticipating a large volume of claims coming in, so I might be working a couple of hours on Sunday at home. I have to dig up my HP monitor so I can see what cord I need to buy to hook it up to my new HP laptop. I have SO many hauls to share with you. So much occurred in February. I also found out that my credit score is good enough to buy a house, so the search is starting next year. Most likely in July since my 401K will mature next September and I’ll be able to withdraw the down payment. I also saw some cushiony state jobs that I can get with an Environmental Science BA. I won’t be stuck in Insurance forever and thank god b/c my corporation leaves much to be desired.

January Makeup Monthly:

month

I decluttered the eye shadow, because it lacked pigmentation. It just looked shimmery on my eyes with zero color difference between the two shades and the black was hella patchy. I decluttered the liquid eye liner, because I don’t use a liquid liner unless it is a glitter eye liner which are VERY forgiving when it has a clear base. This is black with glitter in it. I never line my top lashline in black, only a clear glitter base. I line my bottom lashline and my waterline/tightline more often. I made some progress on the blush, perfume, and the pore primer. I finished half of the liquid lipstick tube and had to take the stopper out. It was very smooth, but after removing the stopper, the rest of it is a thick mousse consistency. I would buy this when I ran out of liquid lips. I finished off the MUFE primer serum, but I would not purchase it.

February Makeup Monthly:

IMG_3560

I am almost done with the Becca primer. I loved it, but I would not purchase as I didn’t see that much of a difference. I really enjoyed the moisture it left on my skin though. I love the caviar eye stick and will pull it out soon in another makeup monthly. I should probably pull out my palette every other month though from March on if I want to see any progress on it. I forgot about it for the third month pick in a row! I only used the MAC lip a handful of times, because my lips have been dry. I used the Burt’s Bees like crazy though. I have one more use out of one perfume, but the other is used up. I only touched the highlighter once, because Becca gave me a nice glow.

March Makeup Monthly:

IMG_3626

I picked out my Harajuku Lovers perfume in Love, which smells very Spring like. I am ready for Spring and no more snow! I chose a nice pink highlighter to give my face a nice glow for when the Becca is used up in a couple of days. I missed filling in my pores last month, so I put the Porefessional back in there. I’m using the MUFE blush as a peachy eye shadow and I have a balm and gloss that match each other to wear at work. I am hoping that I can hit pan on the blush, use up the gloss and the primer, and make a good dent in the highlighter and perfume. Wish me luck!

March Sephora Play

I finally got my first Sephora Play and I am so happy that I am finally off of the wait list. This subscription is better than Ipsy and Birchbox combined. I am receiving products that I actually want to try and brands that I already buy from. I love getting deluxe sized samples to try out the product and to see if I actually want to buy it full sized. Products in Sephora aren’t cheap, so I will take any opportunity to try before I buy. The subscription box from Sephora allows me to try all the products that I have my eye on and I actually use them up quickly. They don’t tend to sit in my makeup stash for long, although some things really stick around a long time. I’m looking at you deluxe sized mascara! I use my mascara until it’s empty and a deluxe size usually takes me about 6 months to use up. I’ll use it up in three if it is an everyday mascara that isn’t too dramatic for work. The Benefit Roller Lash is too dramatic for office use. I use it on my days off though, even when I wear no other makeup. Mascara is a necessity for me.

The Box & Insert

The bag is cute, but not very functional. I cannot think what I could use it for, unless I was making little gifts for my coworkers for Christmas time and fill it with bits of candy and a makeup product or two. Actually, I quite like that idea, so I think I’ll save them. Technically, my unit would be two other women right now and one guy (would have to buy a dollar mug to fill with candy for that one). I think it’s something sweet to give. The bigger unit that I’m apart of, I might have enough bags for the women. We shall see! I love the insert that comes with the box, so I know what to do with the product!

Atelier Cologne Divine Clementine

The 0.25 fl oz roller ball is $25 and this sample is approximately $1 worth of perfume. If I end up really enjoying the perfume, I could see buying the roller ball. I have a ton of perfumes on my to buy list, so this would really have to compete. As is, I’m not really a fan of it, but I will use this sample up. I love that it was sealed in wax paper to prevent spilling on everything else in the box and I’ll be hanging up the pretty postcard at my desk.

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Original

I am so excited to get my hands on the primer potion FINALLY. This is a cult favorite that I could not convince myself to purchase, because it is pricey when I’m not sure that it will work for me. The mini is 0.16 fl oz for $12 and this one is 0.06 fl oz for approximately $5. This is almost half the size of the mini that goes for $12. This is a decent sized sample to see if it makes any difference for me and if it does, I might try out some drugstore primers. I’m sure that the drugstore primers contain more product for under $12.

Benefit Cosmetics Watt’s Up! Cream-to-Powder Highlighter

I love the golden sheen that this highlighter gives and I’m the type of girl that can never have too many highlighters. I wear highlighter everyday, usually a subtle one. I like to be natural and subtle when it comes to makeup. I have no problem rocking an unexpected lip color or wear pops of color like blue eyeliner. This will get a ton of use from me, once I am done with my current project pan on March 2oth. I already have a highlighter that I’m trying to get good use out of. I tend to rotate through my makeup by putting them in project pans to see how much progress I can make on the product. This is $30 for 0.33 oz of product. Sephora gives a generous looking 0.08 oz, approximately $7.50 for a fourth of the full size. Already, the box paid for itself and the running total is $13.50.

Verb Ghost Oil

I have never heard of this brand before. I am always happy to try something new and this is a hair oil that you can use as a detangler or to give your hair a lot of shine. I love to put oil in my pony tail after using a lot of dry shampoo, which makes hair look dull. I’m almost out of my detangler, so this will be a great multi-use product. The full size is $14 for 2 fl oz and it comes in a spray bottle. This sample is 0.57 fl oz, approximately $4 since it is a little more than a fourth of a full size. I am glad that Sephora has introduced me to a product that I haven’t heard of before and it is on pair in pricing with It’s A 10. I’ll see if it’s just as good. Nothing has beat that brand yet.

GlamGlow Glowstarter Mega Illuminating Moisturizer in Nude Glow

This is the product that I am the most excited about and I was so happy, when I saw this in my sneak peek! This has a very high glow, so I will not be using it as a moisturizer. I will be using it as a highlighter underneath my blush to give an extra rosy glow to whatever blush that I’m wearing. I have combination oily skin, so I cannot use this as a moisturizer. I love a good glow though and this will be perfect on the cheeks under blush. A full size goes for $49 for 50 ml worth of product. My sample has about a 5th of that (7 ml) for approximately $7. I am glad that I can try out this product, though I will never buy the full size since I cannot use it as a moisturizer. I’d rather buy a GlamGlow highlighter. Do they make that yet? I hope they branch out into highlighters! Tally $20.50

Josie Maran Surreal Skin Argan Finishing Balm in Etheric

This balm gives the skin that lit from within glow and I will wear this for sure as my highlighter on work days. You can dab this on top of makeup, so hopefully, this looks nice on top of powder.I love the fancy little jar, but I wish that it came in a tube. I don’t like tub products, but I’ll use them. I just don’t personally buy them. A full size is $36 for 0.5 oz of product. My sample has a fifth of the product 0.1 oz for $7.20. These samples are really decent size. They really are deluxe and contain plenty of product. I can see everything lasting me a couple of weeks, except the Benefit and Urban Decay. Those will last me months I think, because I only wear eye shadow on the weekend and that highlighter has TONS of product in it.

This $10 box has a value of $27.70. The value is almost three times of what I paid for it. I am very happy with the March box and I will use every product that I got. I know that I won’t always like everything every month and I might not like the color picked for makeup. March was perfect for me though and I give this month 5 stars out of 5. I am looking forward to the April box already.

With Love,

Selena

Empties: The March Edit

Heya Aspiring Gurus!

I have a whole list of empties for you this month. This month was a big cleansing for me, so I can safely say that April will probably be a lighter load. Who knows though? Maybe April will be a big empties month as well. Either way, I will be trying to use up my huge collection of beauty goodies!

Biore Charcoal Pore Nose Strip, 1 ct

Serena

I’m guilty of throwing things out again! So, enjoy this picture of Serena drinking green juice. She’s a weirdo. She will eat and drink just about anything really. I wasn’t a big fan of this pore strip. I don’t think it works as good as the original. A review is on its way.

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream, 0.06 fl oz foil packet

hand cream

A wrote a review for this that will be uploaded in the coming weeks. I enjoyed using this sample and I would consider buying it in the future.

MJCARE Collagen Essence Mask, 1 ct

Face Mask

I reviewed this HERE!

Epice Purifying Exfoliant, 1 oz

Products

A review for this is in the works as well! I tried to be real good this month and write reviews while I finished it up.

Maxwell House International Cafe Suisse Mocha, 4 oz

Lashes

My dad threw this out after he used up the last bit. I try to take pictures when I buy them, but I tend to lose pictures. For those of you who have asked how long my eye lashes are really, there are my bare eye lashes. They are extremely long. Falsies make me look RIDICULOUS and mascara makes me look like I am wearing falsies. I tend to use clear mascara during low key days like going to work. I have a review of this coffee coming soon to a computer near you.

Garnier Nutritioniste Skin Renew Anti-Puff Eye Roller, 0.5 fl oz

eye cream

Review: coming soon.

Nesquik [Nestle] Single Serve in Chocolate, 1 pk

Alcohol

Raise your glass to forgetting to take pictures, you Alcoholic! I like chocolate milk sometimes.

Odwalla Original Superfood Smoothie, 59 fl oz

juice

Super yummy! I’m going to be writing about how I have really gotten into Green Juice. I drink a bottle a week.

MJCARE Aloe Essence Mask, 1 ct

Aloe mask

I reviewed this HERE!

Rimmel London Volume Accelerator in 003 Extreme Black, 0.23 fl oz

Mascara

Somehow, I lost the tube to my mascara. I suspect Shadow. She loves to steal my things and knowing myself, I probably just tossed them in there. I always wash off my mascara brushes to see if I can use it as a spoolie for my eye brows. I’m cheap, I know.

Lush Cinders Bath Bomb, 1 ct

Cinders Bath Bomb

I used up my other half this month and I was sad to see it go. I will be reviewing this, but overall, I wouldn’t repurchase.

Figs & Rouge Hand Cream in Mango Mandarin, 0.67 oz

Hand Cream

I am reviewing this, but this was so yummy smelling! Once I run out of hand cream, I would buy this in the Summer time. It is the perfect light lotion that sinks in quick for on the go.

NYX Butter Gloss in Eclair, 0.27 fl oz

Butter gloss

It was a sad day when I ran out of this guy. I’m telling ya. I need to get another one, but I legit have a whole makeup bag full of lip gloss, balms, lip sticks, and chapsticks. I cannot buy one for a very, very, very long time.

The Body Shop Vit C Skin Boost, 1 fl oz

skin boost

I finally went throw this guy and I actually liked it in the end. I have a review for it coming up. I was actually impressed.

Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream Moisturizer, 0.02 oz

I thought nothing of the sample. I wasn’t impressed and I wouldn’t buy it.

Ecobeauty Good Day Day Moisturizer, 0.5 fl oz

lotion

I have a negative review for this one. I didn’t like it. It is definitely geared towards drier skin types.

Lush Northern Lights Bath Bomb, 1 ct

Northern Lights Bath Bomb

I have a review for this one and sneak peek, I loved it!
