September Movies

I don’t get to watch movies very often and when I do, it is thanks to Netflix after Dean goes to bed at night. I would love to do this series monthly, but I just don’t watch that many movies in a month. I have collected some movies that I have watched over the past several months. For the most part, I enjoyed all of them. I really do love Netflix, because even if I only watch one movie a month, it pays for itself. I also now have an Amazon Fire Stick, which is great to watch movies as a family on the 40 inch living room screen. If you have any movie recommendations, please leave them below and I will add them to my Netflix to watch list. It is HUGE like my goodreads list that I am still editing. I managed to finish two seasons of my favorite show and I am on the last episode of the last season. I don’t want to watch it, because I don’t want it to end. Does anyone get the same way?

Beautiful Creatures

Beautiful Creatures

This movie had so much potential after reading the book. This movie was so good for almost the whole thing. They really messed up the ending though, so I didn’t end up enjoying it as much. Also, there is no wolf dog and I would have enjoyed that part of the movie. That dog was such a presence in the book and there were other small but important details missing in the movie. It was a major let down to be honest. They butchered such a great book and I will be reading the rest of this series. I am so glad that they aren’t making anymore of these movies.

Lost Girl: Season Three

poster-lost-girl-season-3

OMG! So much stuff happened in this series and I am totally hooked to the show. I have been watching this every night instead of reading and I just cannot get enough. My fingers are itching to watch season three, but I know that I should get some reading in while I can. I knew a few things were coming, but the show twisted just enough that the reveal was still shocking and slightly different than expected. I love all of the characters and I am invested in all of the story lines. Bo is such a cool kick ass heroine and so far, she has been on the good side or the “light”. Based on how the last episode of the season leaves off, I think her time with the “light” has past and her more evil, sinister side will take over. I think that fairy tail series took there note from this series, because both of their main leads turn “bad”.

Finding Dory

untitled

This was such a cute movie and I loved it so much. I watched this while Dean was napping. My dad was like “Why you watching a kid’s movie?” I told him to shut up. lol. Dean doesn’t watch movies like this yet anyways, unless it is Paw Patrol. He doesn’t understand plot and there were no songs either, unless you count “just keep swimming”. It was super cute to see baby Dory and learn that she was living at like a “zoo” the whole time…aquarium, that’s the word. I totally enjoyed this sequel and really miss this movie. It was the rare sequel that was just as good as the movie.

Lost Girl: Season Four

lost-girl-53480809d25c7

I cannot wait to start Season 5. I have never cried so much than during Season 4 of Lost Girl. Two big moments happen and it is just heart breaking. Season 5 is the last season, so I hope that everything ends neatly and all of the loose ends are tied. I have never loved a series more than this one and it was all fun and games until this season. Stuff got real and a show has to be really good to get me to cry. I am so happy that I didn’t do my makeup today. I just watched the finale episode. I don’t want to give anything away, because it is such a great series. I highly recommend it if you are not sensitive to violence or sexy scenes. Honestly, I am going to miss it when I watch season 5.

Christian Mingle

Blog

This was a cute if at times cringey movie about finding God through a dating website. If has the feel of a Hallmark movie, but I think this is a racier element for Hallmark. I don’t think it ever premiered on tv or else, I would have seen it by now. It has my favorite Hallmark actress, but the male lead didn’t really go with her. I just found the whole movie really awkward and a little uncomfortable to watch. It wasn’t too much of a preachy movie and I did enjoy it. It could have been put together a lot better though.

That is everything that I have managed to watch on Netflix since I lost wrote my movie post. I am very happy with my selection and I am glad that I watched all of them, even my low rated one this time around. I have tons of movies that I want to watch and will probably watch one tonight. I try to make time every Sunday and Monday to watch one movie, even if I watch half one day and the other half the next.

November Flicks

It has been so long, since I shared the movies and shows that I have been watching and obsessing over. The thing is, with doing a course, I don’t really have time to watch much of anything. Here are the things that I have been able to watch and I’ll try to do these every few months. I have to remember to write them down. Most of my tv watching is on Netflix, so it has been easier to track what I watch. I am usually watching series, so I only review those when I am done with a season or if the show ends.

The Curse of Sleeping Beauty

Sleeping

This one was really creepy, but in a good way. It wasn’t really scary, but it had it’s moments. I watched this on Netflix and I am glad that I did. All of the pieces fell into place the last 30 minutes of the movie. It is amazing how beautiful true evil can be. This is based off of a Brothers Grim story called the Brier Rose. If you love the Brothers Grim, then you have to watch this movie. I love all of these dark faerie tale movies that Hollywood has been coming out with lately. I give this movie a solid 5 stars.

The Circle

movie

The movie had potential, but was poorly executed. It is advertised as a thriller, but it only has one intense moment in the movie. There were a lot of points were the movie could have been made into more of a thriller with almost getting caught here and someone goes missing there. It had a lot of potential to be a great blockbuster film instead it just fell flat. Also, Emma Watson’s character wasn’t very likable. She lets someone else call her guy friend delusional just because he doesn’t want to be on social media. Just a big flop all around unfortunately. The trailer was WAY better than the movie. 2 out of 5 stars.

Going In Style

going_in_style

A great family comedy, this movie has just the right amount of heartbreak to make this comedy a well rounded film. It had really hilarious moments, but became serious at parts to make you invested in the characters themselves. I love it when a comedy can make me actually care about the characters. The funny thing is, I can see this happening in real life. I highly recommend this film for comedic lovers. It is very family friendly and not very crude at all. It has a Disney Channel ending that I enjoyed. It kept me guessing until the very end. 5 out of 5 stars for sure!

Switched @ Birth

poster

Season 5 was bitter sweet. Season 3 to 4 I felt like they dragged out the show. So much happened in Season 5 and things were just starting to get good again. The last season rekindled the drama on the show, but in a good way. I’m sad that it is over, but happy that I finished another series. I still have to finish quite a few shows that I started in high school. I just don’t want them to end. lol. I feel like the show ended with a lot of closure, even though you don’t know what the rest of their lives will be like, you know that they are on the right path. I hope that Lucas Grabeel works on some new projects, because I love him and I want to see more of him. I try to watch all of the films he is in. Overall, I really did enjoy this series and it ended in a nice way that leaves their lives open ended.

Paddington

movie

This was such a cute movie that I watched on Netflix when D came over to exchange gifts. The movie held my attention and was a very good children’s movie. It did get a bit dark, but I mean, what movie doesn’t nowadays. Dean tolerated the movie very well and didn’t get frightened. He got scared during Zootopia, so for him, this movie was less scary. I need to watch these children movies more often on Netflix, because they are highly entertaining and this one had a very good message. Dean needs to be exposed to more movies his age and it’s great to have on in the background when I’m doing laundry and other things. We turn the tv off when it is “work” time or constructive play.

As you can see, I enjoy a variety of different movies depending upon what I am in the mood for, who else is watching, and whose not home. My dad hates horror, so I watch that on my kindle when he isn’t home. 🙂

Heya Aspiring Gurus!

I finally have a few movies to review for you all today! I have been watching a few movies and relaxing on my two month leave, which will be officially over on Tuesday. I go back to work on Tuesday. 😦 There is a bit of everything, so enjoy!

movie

Unfinished Business

This movie was hilarious and one of the best comedies that have seen in awhile. It was the perfect balance of funny and witty. I have been a fan of Vince Vaughn forever and Dave Franco, James Franco’s brother was one of the best parts of the movie. He played his part and it was very believable. He was comedic relief in this movie. I couldn’t have spent my Redbox token any better than this. This was also a different type of comedy with an actual plot that made sense. I could see this actually happening in real life. 5 out of 5 stars

wild

Wild

I love Reese Witherspoon, but this was not my favorite movie of hers. I honestly found it boring and dragged out. Maybe I would have liked it better if I had read the book first, but I was not really paying attention to this movie as I watched it. It didn’t even seem to make much sense and at the end, I didn’t understand the point of the movie. I just missed the boat on this one. It wasn’t terrible, but it didn’t live up to expectations. 2 out of 5 stars

Spy

Spy

This is another comedy that I enjoyed. Melissa McCarthy is such a great actress. Danielle, I am so glad you introduced me to her. I never would have watched her movies, if it wasn’t for you. You started my addiction! I didn’t know the other actors in the movie, but everyone played their parts very well. I couldn’t believe who ended up being the bad guy! 5 out of 5 stars

intern

The Intern

I love both actors in this movie, but like the movie Wild, I just thought it was boring. I liked some parts of it, but most of the time it was getting all the back story and waiting for things to happen. It was a slow movie and I fell asleep watching it. There was so much hype about this movie that I was disappointed. I still finished watching it, but I would not recommend it. 2 out of 5 stars

inside out

Inside Out

I rented this movie for Dean and he was very enthused with all of the colors. I enjoyed the movie as well. It is a cute movie for kids and teaching them about different emotions. I actually have to applaud Disney with this one. I couldn’t find anything inappropriate with it. My favorite character was Disgust, which I would have thought to be envy or vanity. I could recognize all the voices, but I know a few good actors were voice overs in this one. 5 out of 5 stars

Heya Aspiring Gurus!

It has been a hot minute since I have written an entertainment post. I have been mostly watching episodes of tv shows and I only review those at the end of every season. I haven’t been watching a ton of movies, but I have rented from Redbox and watched a couple on Netflix recently. I hope you enjoy this and I hope to be writing at least one more this month. I enjoy writing these posts. Also, this week, you can look forward to more product reviews, an unboxing, and a breakdown of the box I unboxed.

Descendants
disney-descendants-movie-poster
I loved this movie, so sue me! I loved the catchy songs and I thought that it was a unique plot. I was surprised that Disney never thought to do this before. Is music overdone on Disney? Yes, but I wasn’t feeling well and this just made my whole day in bed a lot better. There is going to be a sequel and I will be watching it for sure. I like Dove Cameron’s singing voice a lot better than the other girl’s voice in the movie, but that is just personal preference. I don’t think the singing talent was amazing or anything. I just enjoyed the catchy tones to songs new and old from Disney.

Juniper Ascending
jupiter-ascending-dvd-cover-39
This was an interesting concept for a movie, but not executed in the way that it should have been. There were two great lead roles and I felt the chemistry between them. However, there were things that didn’t make any sense in the plot and it was boring at times. I didn’t really understand fully what was going on and when I thought I did, there was an event or something said that would contradict it. This movie had the potential to be great, but it fell short. Now, it was just interesting. Nothing more, nothing less.
3 stars out of 5

The Longest Ride
The Longest Ride
Oh, I loved this movie, even if I didn’t read the book! Now, I really want to read the book. Let me know when you are done with it, Danielle. This movie was everything I needed it to be: perfectly romantic and tragic. It was bittersweet, but filled with humorous moments. I recommend this to anyone who wants to watch a good romance and possibly cry a little. I’m not going to lie, I did tear up with this one. Stupid pregnancy hormones. This is not your typical Nicholas Sparks movie. He has truly broken his own predictable mold.
5 stars out of 5

The Age of Adaline
The-Age-of-Adaline-Full-Movie
I really enjoyed this movie, even though it was a bit boring at times. I just love Blake Lively and I think that she is a terrific actress. She played her role very well and I cried a bit during this movie as well. It was so touching. I have been really loving romantic movies lately, especially ones that go from the present backwards. There were other great actors in this movie as well. It was a great cast and a unique plot. There is something refreshing about seeing something you have never seen before instead of an imitation or copy of other movies.
4 stars out of 5

The Duff
Duff
I watched this with Danielle when she came over my house in September. This was hilarious and reminded me a bit of Mean Girls or another iconic movie like that. I enjoyed all of the talent in this movie and I liked that it was way more than just about making a girl over. It reached a deeper level, which is unique to the young adult/teen movies that you usually see. It was superficial, while cutting deeper into what kind of bullying girls do to girls. I was fully engrossed in this movie.

Heya Aspiring Gurus!

I’m sorry that I haven’t been posting much as of late. I haven’t been feeling that great and I’m already 5 and a half months along in my pregnancy! I’m going to try to post every weekend with two posts. I already have the rest of August’s Wednesday reviews all set to upload. This will be my last post until Wednesday and then hopefully Saturday, if not two on Sunday. I am working on a book review and a luxury pamper night routine. But this is a movie/shows review post, so let’s get to the goods!

Cake
Cake
I really loved this movie and not just because Jennifer Aniston is the lead role. I liked the whole concept of this movie and the other star cameos was nice as well. She really delivered in her role as a troubled, addicted woman, who doesn’t really care anymore. Then, a guy and his son help her out of the rut her life has become, but it is ultimately up to her to have the courage to move on and keep on living life. This was a sad, emotional movie. Honestly, the best serious role Aniston has ever made and I would like to see her in more roles like this. I rented this movie from Redbox when it first came out, but now you can watch it on Netflix.

Little Women
Little Women
I watched this movie over Danielle’s house and even thought it was really long, it was also really good. I really like how all of the sisters interacted. It was all very believable, but the ending was still very shocking to me. I laughed a lot during this movie and thought certain parts were creepy when they were supposed to be romantic. We joked a lot during this movie and I just remembered having a great time.

Paul Blart Mall Cop 2
paul-blart-mall-cop-2-movie-poster_0
This movie did not take place in a mall, but a hotel that had a mall section this time. I guess that makes it a bit different, but I would have preferred the mall scene again. I have to say that I didn’t enjoy this one nearly as much as the first ones. The sequels aren’t ever nearly as good though. This one could have been way better, but it really sucked to tell you the truth. I thought it was less funny and more stupid with little to no plot. I’m glad I used this as my free movie at Redbox, otherwise I would have been even more disappointed.
2 out of 5 stars

The Cobbler
The-Cobbler-2014-BluRay
I really enjoyed this movie as well. I just finished watching it yesterday night and it wasn’t what I was expecting. It was so much more. This is not your typical Adam Sandler movie. Again, this is a more serious role for him and it just works. Yes, there is a little disconnect between certain events/points in the movie (unlike Cake), but I still enjoyed the movie. The ending was pretty shocking and I was not expecting it. It made the whole movie have a happy ending though with the impression that things will only go up for Sandler’s character.
4 out of 5 stars

Teen Beach 2
Teen Beach 2
This was a cute sequel, but again, not as entertaining as the first. I felt like this one had less plot to it as well, though I still feel like it had a central plot. I love musicals, but I didn’t like these songs as much as in the first movie. I felt like the characters were less real and the ending was very disappointing to me. I wish I would have liked it more, since I loved the first. It just didn’t do it for me. I still liked it though.

May’s Entertainment

Heya Aspiring Gurus!

I know it has been awhile, since I did one of these. I finally watched enough tv to make another one. As you know, I haven’t been feeling the greatest, so instead of reading, I have been watched tv shows and movies. I am trying to get back into the swing of reading and I have finished a book that I am trying to write a review on. I think I will write half of the review today and half tomorrow. It probably will not be uploaded until next week though. So, there is a book review in the works coming up. I am also planning to upload two more posts tomorrow: another beauty review and a Caturday post. Now, onto the Entertainment Review!

Lucy
lucy-movie-banner
This movie was really interesting and a mind binder. It was a psychological thriller with a lot of action to it. I enjoyed it, but I wouldn’t say that it was one of the best movies that I have watched. That would be a big lie. I did enjoy it though. It had a unique concept and plot. It was a bit of a letdown to all of the trailers that I watched. I thought that it was going to be better than it was. I got this at the Redbox with a buy one get one free coupon. It was worth the rental.

Dance Moms: Collection
Dance Moms
I hate that Netflix just put up the collection and not the whole series. It jumps all over the place and it isn’t enjoyable. It skips over all off the good “drama” episodes. When I want to watch trashy tv, I want to be able to follow it. They need to put up the whole seasons and put back Keeping Up With The Kardashions. Seriously. I want reality tv back on at Netflix. It would make it even better than it already is, if they bring all of those shows back. Does anyone know why they got rid of it in the first place?

Not Cool
Not Cool
Omg! One of the stupidest movies that I have watched in a while. I am glad that I waited for this to be available on Netflix, because it was so not worth it. I wanted to poke my eye out at times. It was that bad. I think that if I starred in a movie this bad, I wouldn’t be out there promoting it like Shawn Dawson did. Actually, it’s also his film, so double shame on him. He may be funny, but he has no idea how to make a movie that other people will actually want to watch.

Once: Upon A Time Season One
Once season 1
I LOVE this series! I love all the great actors and actresses that play in it. I like the plot. It feels unique and fresh, compared to all the supernatural shows that have hit the market. This is supernatural without being gimmicky. They are fairy tail stories come to life like you have never known before. I like the twist with the Beauty and the Beast the best. All of the stories are unique and it has a running plot that connects everything together seamlessly. It is one of the best tv series that I have watched this year. I watch it on Netflix and I highly recommend it.

Avengers: The Age of Ultron
Avengers-Age-of-Ultron-2015-Movie-Poster
Finally! A female superhero with better powers than anyone else’s. I really enjoyed this movie, but the graphics were laughable at best. Yes, it was action packed and worth going to the movies to see. I watched this on my birthday. It was a nice movie, but I would not see it again. It wasn’t that great off a movie that you would want to watch twice. Maybe after many years.

So, there you have it! Those are the shows that I have been watching in May. I don’t even have anything left over from May to put on June’s list, which is a first. I usually have some carry over. Maybe I will have some next week. May ain’t over yet!

Come & Get It

Heya Aspiring Gurus!

Are you guys loving my new titles? I am having fun creating them. I’ve been using song titles or lyrics and it’s been really fun getting into my more creative side. I have watched a few more movies, so I decided to do another Entertainment Monthly post. I’ve been watching more Youtube than actual movies/tv lately. I just discovered a few ones on Netflix though, so I think I can have another entertainment post up before the end of the month. I also finished one of my books for April, so I am planning to put up a review this coming Friday.

The Equalizer

The Equalizer

Okay, so I watched this movie because it has Chloe Grace Mortez in it. My dad wanted to see this movie, because it has Denzel Washington in it. We were both equally surprised at how good this movie was. It was very action packed and sucked you into the story. Of course, it had unbelievable parts in it that made me cringe, but it was otherwise very good and worth watching. There is blood and violence, so if you are sensitive to that, I would skip it. This is one of the best action packed movies that I have watched in a while.

St. Vincent

St-Vincent-Movie-Poster

I thought this was a funny and cute movie. I didn’t think it was the best that it could of be, but it is what it is. It is a crude comedy that also has a very serious side to it, which I was not expecting based on the commercials. I actually cried during this movie. Some parts were so SAD! If you are looking for laughs and a feel good movie, this one would be the one for you.
3 out of 5 stars

The Maze Runner

The Maze Runner

After the letdown that was The Giver, I was not expecting much from The Maze Runner and I couldn’t have been more wrong. This was simply amazing and so true to the book. I am looking forward to the next movie for more explanation on what is going on. Are they the only kids left on earth or something? I want to know what is going on! I am reading these books before the movie one at a time with each movie, so I don’t spoil the suspense. lol. I know, I’m a weird one.

Left Behind

leftbehind4

I watched this movie for Chad Michael Murray, because I have loved him since A Cinderella Story with Hilary Duff in it. He was so good in this movie and everyone one’s acting was great. It was the cheap special effects that made this movie a lot less enjoyable and the fact that there will not be a sequel to it to tie up loose ends. It was a nice movie and I don’t regret watching it. I just wish it had better effects and that there would be a sequel so I can see Chad again.
3 out of 5 stars

The Other Woman

The Other Woman

This was just as good as Danielle told me it would be. This was so funny and very woman empowering which you don’t see enough of in Hollywood. I thought that this was sweet and I would watch it again. Kate Upton was great in this. I can really see her becoming an actress. The girl has got talent. Diaz was of course, marvelous in this, but she needs to play more roles than just all the uptight ones.

Entertainment Monthly: March

Heya Aspiring Gurus!

It is that time of the month again, where I share what I have been watching. I always limit these to 5, because I think anymore would get too long. I have actually finished a few series and have watched quite a few movies these past months. I think that I could make four of these, no joke. I might just do that. lol. No, I will have one today and maybe, I’ll upload another one next weekend. I will do four series this week and one movie. All of my shows on ABC Family have ended their seasons recently, so I wanted to do them while they are still fresh in my mind. I watched all of the tv shows while they were airing on cable.

Pretty Little Liars Season 5

pretty-little-liars-season-5-poster-full

This season was so intense and exciting. I could not believe the ending! What a twist! For a long time, I thought A was HannAh, but then, Shepard told us that she would never let A be one of the four girls. So, there blew my theory out of the water. I don’t want to say any spoliers for Dan [say hi!], but you NEED to watch this show. I need someone to gossip with about what is going to happen next. I hope none of them get killed off of the show and it would make things more interesting if Ali is released from prison, which in light of things, will probably happen. I’m bummed that I cannot say anything more for fear of spoilers, but this show has never lost it’s fire. It continues to burn just as bright as season 1. It has been picked up for two more seasons. Could we be looking at least one more A in season 7? I love this show, but honestly? The A game cannot last forever. I hope these actresses get picked for movies and other great tv shows. I would cult follow Ashley Benson and Lucy Hale any day. 5 out of 5 stars

Switched @ Birth Season 4

switched-at-birth

Talk about losing their fire, I think this show has gone downhill, but the season did pick up at the end. The middle of the season fell flat for me. Is anyone feeling this way? I feel like season 5 should be this show’s last. It’s been dragged out for far too long. I would love to see Lucas play in some other show or to finally come out with his own album. I watch the show, because I have invested too much years into it. I haven’t felt excited about it in a while. It has it’s moments, but with shows like PLL, it just doesn’t compete. 3 out of 5 stars

Chasing Life Season 1

chasing-life

I love this show! I cannot believe how it ended! I cannot wait for Season 2 to come on, so I can see what happens next. This show is really great. It had a couple of ify moments, but overall, I am totally invested in this show. I didn’t think that I would really like it, but it surprised me. It wasn’t at all how I thought it would be. It is very drama filled and entertaining, but it also brings up hard issues in a way that isn’t forceful. This show has made me cry and I love shows that can bring out true emotions from me. This is a must watch. 4 out of 5 stars

The Fosters Season 2

The fosters

I have to say that I didn’t think this show could get any better, but it did. It dealt with so many different issues and this truly was a family show about a very diverse family. Out of all of ABC Family’s shows, I think that this one really shows you what a true family is like in America. Of course it is dramatized for entertainment, but at its core, it really is a true reflection of what is out there. I look forward to season 3 to see what happens with Callie’s adoption. For some reason, I think that she is going to just choose her dad anyway. Does anyone else get that feeling? 4 out of 5 stars

Men, Women, & Children

Men-Women-and-Children-2014-movie-poster

I will start off by saying that I had high expectations for this movie based on its great cast of characters and actors and actresses. This move was a total flop to me. It was boring and only really had a small amount of appeal. I thought that it would be really funny, but it was a very serious and at times disturbing movie about how controlling parents can be. It is also about how stupid parents can be as well, when it comes to their children. I didn’t like this movie at all and don’t think that it’s worth watching. I felt like I wasted my time and money. I rented this from Redbox. 2 out of 5 stars

Well, that is it. It was a mixed bunch and the movie was a total fail. What have you been watching and what are your thoughts on the PLL finale???

Entertainment Monthly: February

Heya Aspiring Gurus!

I have watched a few more shows and movies to share my thoughts and opinions with all of you. I love writing this series every month. I am not going to make it a consistent thing to write two of these posts per month. It is just how things turned out last month. I keep track of the movies and tv series that I complete and once I reach five, I plan to do this post that up coming weekend. I noticed that I finished five more entertainment related shows on Monday and so today, Sunday morning, I have decided to sit down and write it. I am going to be painting my nails later today. You all can look forward to a rare Manicure Monday, even if it is just a quick 5 minute post. I tend to have Friday, Monday, and Tuesdays for my days off of blogging. I chose those days, because Fridays are for “fun nights”, Mondays I usually work later than usual (If there is overtime, I am usually at work until at least 5 if not, 5:30), and Tuesdays are a day of relaxation. Well, now that I have explained all of that, here is the meat of the post:

Switched @ Birth Season 3

Switched At Birth Promotionals 03

I love Switched @ Birth more in its current season (Season 4) than this one. It seems like they ran out of ideas with this one and it became dragged out and boring. Season 4 is much more exciting and drama filled! Season 3 was just okay and I would continue to watch it even if the series continued to be “just okay”. I am glad that they improved with Season 4 though. It would be tough to see a well-loved series go down the drain. After Angelo “leaves” though, Bay’s baby sister disappears as well. I thought Bay was like so happy to have a baby sister around. Now, she doesn’t even seem to remember that she does have another sister besides Daphne. I watched most of the season on regular cable tv, but I had to watch the last few episodes on Netflix since I lost cable for a bit.

Into The Storm

Insto-The-Storm-High-Res-Movie-Poster

I really enjoyed this movie a lot! I rented this movie from Redbox and I had been waiting FOREVER to watch it. I knew that it was going to be good because of the great trailer that went with this movie. I was on the edge of my seat the whole entire time. I was so into the movie. I got absorbed into the action and invested into the characters, even the Red Necks. It has been awhile since I have been that into a movie before. I am usually a a tough critic, but this movie took the cake for me. Now, saying all of that, I still did not give it five stars, because  some characters/situations made this movie a bit unbelievable for me and that took away some of the enjoyment. Overall, this is a great action movie that I would recommend.

Sex Tape

Poster-Art-for-Sex-Tape

I thought that this movie was really funny and a bit crude but not as crude as other comedies that I have watched before. Compared to a bunch of popular comedies, this one is like the least crude out there for adults. I loved seeing Cameron Diaz in comedies instead of her usual romcom, but I have to say that this is a very tame comedy. I can see a lot of people enjoying this movie for a fun night in. I don’t really have much to say about it, besides the fact that I enjoyed it and would recommend it to fans of Diaz.

This Is Where I Leave You

This Is Where I Leave You

This movie had so much potential! It has a great cast of characters and the plot sounded interesting enough, except nothing actually really happens. If you like movies, where the characters just sit around and talk about their lives with little action (actually doing stuff) than you will like this movie more than I did. I like movies that take me on a journey of self discovery. I don’t really like movies like this. They are just not that enjoyable to me. Now, I won’t say that this is the worst movie. It did keep me mildly entertained, but I was painting my nails when I was watching this movie. It was nice to listen to, but I didn’t FEEL like I had to watch it to know what was going on.

If I Stay

If I Stay

This was a really average movie for me. I really loved the book and I enjoyed the adaptation of the book into a movie. I really feel though that they cast the male lead wrong. I was expecting someone with a cool boy persona maybe some tattoos and riding a motorcycle, who falls in love with the female lead and that makes him soften. He seemed more like a jerk than a cool person. In the book, I adored him, but in the movie, I thought much less of him. Maybe the sequel will redeem his character. I hope that they cast different actors for the sequel though. I don’t think Chloe really “fit” the character right.

Entertainment Monthly: January

Heya Aspiring Gurus!

I have watched enough tv once again to write one of these posts. I really enjoy writing these posts, because I am a very picky tv watcher. I don’t watch just anything! I watch a huge variety of tv as well and movies for that matter. I welcome your recommendations on what shows I should watch next and movies. If I end up watching your recommendation, I will mention you by name and add a link back to your blog. Now, onto my monthly entertainment review:

Behaving Badly

Selena-Gomez-Behaving-Badly-Movie-Poster

To be honest, I only watched this movie on Netflix, because it had Selena Gomez in it. I really like her, even though she is really not that great of an actress at all. This movie poster is also really deceiving, because Selena Gomez gets thirty minutes of air time in this movie tops. They just used her name and fame to get a lot of people to watch this movie. Also, you would think by this poster that the movie would involved her a lot and it doesn’t. I still found the movie to be enjoyable and funny. It is at times very crude, but what good comedy isn’t? I think this movie is highly underrated, but I think you can skip watching it if you aren’t into a high school teenager plot.

We Are The Millers

movies-were-the-millers-poster

I rented this movie from Redbox and I thought that this was hilariously funny. This was a highly enjoyable comedy with a great cast of actors in it. I love Jennifer Anston and Emma Roberts! They were so funny in this movie and so was the really awkward guy in this movie. Does anyone know who he is and what else he plays in? I think that he really made this movie as great as it was. If you are looking for an all around great comedy, you don’t have to look further. This is not suitable for children, but I think if your kids are teenagers that they would enjoy this movie as well. It isn’t too dirty or crude enough to corrupt their young minds.

Here Comes The Boom

I think as far as good comedies go, this was the cleanest one by far. As you can see, I was really on a comedy kick for some reason. Maybe because a lot of comedies were released at the same time? I rented this from Redbox as well with a free credit and it was so worth it. It was funny and charming. I laughed so hard and there were many cringe worthy moments. This is a movie the whole family can enjoy, even with the fight scenes. They were not really all that graphic or anything. You can tell that it is totally fake. It didn’t lessen any of the comedic effects though.

The Giver

The Giver

I was so happy to discover that Taylor Swift’s role in the movie was less than 5 minutes long. Seriously. She is not even worth mentioning, but they do to make more money out of this movie. I really was surprised about how much I loved this movie. It isn’t all how I remembered the book to be at all. I really got into this movie and what was going on. It is a movie that really makes you think about where human society is heading and even perfect isn’t really perfect. I fully recommend this movie to anyone who like YA Fantasy or Futurist movies. If anyone one else has read The Giver and watched the movie, is it really different from the book? I thought that the two were very different with similar threads.

The Signal

My dad was interested in watching this, so I rented it from Redbox. I rent so many movies from Redbox in case you haven’t noticed yet. I always get them when I have at least one free credit or a buy one get one deal. I didn’t quite follow this movie. It was confusing and frustrating. After watching the whole thing, I was stunned. What was the whole point of watching it? I didn’t understand a thing! I should have known, since it was the same people who made District 9. That movie made more sense though. They never made a sequel for that movie and they were supposed to! I feel like this movie needs a sequel too to tie up a lot of loose ends. Can anyone explain this to me? I’m dumb founded.

That is it for my movies for now. I just realized that I have enough movies to make a second one of these. I could possibly upload another one next week. What do you guys think? Would you like to see a bonus one? Let me know.
