Children, Haul

5 In: Dean Edition

I decided to rename my haul posts, because I always just feature 5 products at a time (unless it is a store themed haul like Macy’s or Sephora) and I am going to be naming my review posts 5 Out. I will be reviewing 5 empty items at a time. Do not worry. I am still doing a listing empties post, but now my reviews will be a block of 5. A fellow blogger pointed out that my reviews are really short for a full post, so I thought that I would group 5 together to make it interesting enough to read and not annoying. I hope you all like this new style. I also wanted to announce that I will be going to an every other day posting schedule to prepare for college. So, every week there will be 3 to 4 posts instead of 6 to 7. Thank you for understanding.

Dean has been OBSESSED with Deb’s bubble wands lately, so I bought a pack for him for us to use at home. His Paw Patrol bubbles were running low anyway. He has a preference for the pink and blue. I don’t think he knows that the bubbles aren’t any different in the other tubes. lol. It is super fun to watch him pop all of the bubbles or at least try to anyway.

This squish ball caught my attention while looking at the swings in Walmart. I gave Dean the option of green or blue and he picked the blue. It is a really cool, fun ball. I remember having a similar ball minus the texture pieces and smaller. It was also filled with a shimmer liquid that was deemed to be toxic if swallowed, so it was taken off of the market. These are empty but like huge stress balls. I kinda want one for my desk at work now if they have a purple one. Dean loves the different texture that this ball has. It is very sensory engaging.

I bought two sets of crib teething guards on Amazon, because Dean has been eating the paint and wood off of his. I knew that the gelly ones wouldn’t cut it for us, so I opted for the cloth. It took two packs, a total of 6 pieces to fully cover his extra wide crib.

They are washable and I plan on washing them once a week. They took about 45 minutes to tie on all of the pieces securely. It requires some retying maintenance throughout the week of a few of them that he tends to pick at. He hasn’t been able to remove them yet and I hope he doesn’t learn soon. He is not ready for a toddler bed, which is my last resort (a plastic one) if he removes me and starts eating the wood again.

I bought Dean his own stringing bead set, because this is a skill that he needs to build on. He loves trying, but gets easily frustrated. He hasn’t mastered how to get the string in the hole by himself yet. Once you get it in for him, he can push it the rest of the way through and pull it through the bead on the other side independently most of the time.

I had to buy another straw cup for Dean. The other two were worn out and started pouring out. I am going to be buying a few more. These are the only cups that he is really into and works well with him. He sips assisted out of a cup, but he is just too hyper to learn right now how to drink out of a cup. These cups make it so easy to keep him hydrated. When I buy a few more, I will try to get him to drink his milk out of them. I think that I will finally throw away the bottles for good. It might be time for him. I will have to see how he does in the next couple of months. I want to make sure that he is ready to let go. The dentist isn’t worried about the bottles, just that he brushes his teeth and doesn’t drink milk in the crib to sleep. I brush his teeth every night and morning and he gets a bottle of tap water at night. It’s been hot at night in his room.

Well, this wraps up Dean’s purchases over the month of May and a bit of June. I love to spoil him. I forgot to photograph the four books that I scored at Marshall’s for him. I paid $9.70 for 4 hard cover baby books, which is a steal. Three of them were $3 each and one was 70 cents. He goes through books a lot. He flips through them so much that the spine breaks and he’s not exactly gentle with them either. It just makes it super affordable to enrich his mind by saving at least 50% off of his books.

Dean’s Haul

I have so many hauls to catch up on that has happened over the last few months. I have just been busy with other content and my life that I never got to it. I hope you don’t mind some more hauls. I honestly love hauls, reviews, and empties. You get to see the whole life cycle of a product. I made a Sally’s order recently for my hair specifically. I am going to be making another Sally’s order for my hair and project pan for my birthday. I just got a $5 coupon code for Sally’s that expires at the end of May. I will use it up for sure. I am debating whether to sign up for their rewards or not. I don’t know how often my hair orders will be for supplies and whether it would be worth it or not.

Fisher Price BeatBelle

toy

So, this is a $40 toy that Walmart had on clearance for $20. I had to buy it for Dean. It is so cute and we love playing with it. She does a lot of cool stuff and is very interactive. He can’t follow her commands or anything, but loves it when I play with her for him. It even lets you record a message and he loves it when she plays back to him. Even his ABA therapists have a fun time with this toy, too.

Munchkin Weighted Flexi-Straw Cup

I bought Dean two of these. He is drinking water from these cups, but still drinking milk from a bottle. Small steps. He drinks a lot of water and I like to mix tap with flavored to give it some taste. I might grab a few more of these, too. This is the only “sippy” cup that he knows how to use. The weighted straw keeps the straw primed with water in it. He doesn’t have to suck very hard to get any water out. Going to start slowly offering Dean milk in this kind of cup and see how it goes.

Fisher Price Snap-Lock Caterpillar

toy

Dean is learning in therapy how to pull apart and pop together these kinds of activity beads. I bought him his own set to use at home to get familiar with and play with. He doesn’t really like to play with these, but loves to chew on them. I need to find another way to get him to be engaged with these. The ones Jen brings are rubberized, so I am wondering if he finds these too hard to do. We will keep trying though.

Parent’s Choice Diaper Rash Ointment

cream

I needed another tube of this just to have on hand. I used up all three partial tubes during the week diarrhea episode he had in February. You never know when he might get a rash. I even use this when he gets heat rash on his arms and legs. It works great for any type of rash that creeps up on him.

Nickelodeon Bubble Bath

bath

This has such a nice sweet banana scent that really lingers in the tub during his own bath experience. I even use it now. It is the only bubble bath that I have found that keeps its scent after it hits the water.Dean is obsessed with bubble baths now and he has one about 3 times a week. He’ll ask to take a tub by going into the bathroom and slapping the tub a few times. He is so sweet!

These are the things that I have picked up for Dean lately. If you have kids, have you used any of these products?

Munchkin Diaper Pail Refills

I love my Munchkin diaper pail and these seven layer bags are the best. You cannot smell anything as long as you shut the top correctly. I have a tendency to not close it all the way and think that I did. Out of two years of buying these bags, I had my 1st defective one recently. I could still use the bag, but one side was loose against the plastic orange piece. This can happen when you overfill, but I put my first diaper in it and it happened. I highly recommend this system. It is one of the cheapest that works and for a two year old, I go through 2 to 3 bags a week. I buy the 20 pack, so I don’t have to think about buying another one for about 2 months.

Empties: July

I have quite a few products that I used up in July. July turned out to be a good month for me and it is mostly due to my project pan. It really motivated me to use and enjoy what I have in my collection. I’m looking forward to reviewing some of these products in my post, so stay tuned for some reviews. I’m really a review blog for the most part. I love writing reviews on products that I have used up and I have a ton of posts in back stock. I just use up so many products that the reviews get backlogged. I try to mix it up, so it’s at least a variety. That means that some of these items won’t be reviewed for months though. Now that I have explained that. Let’s get counting.

I impressed myself this month with 40 empties. Granted only 23 were beauty, skin care, and hair care products. Still, 23 beauty related empty products is amazing in one month. I think August will bring around 20 items total. I really emptied quite a few products. Most of what I am using now are mostly full. I’m not thinking that I will have a whole lot, which is good. I have so many reviews to write about now. About 20 I think. I know it’s August 6th right now, but I have an empty bucket.

November Empties

Happy December Everyone!

I have a lot of posts planned for this weekend/week. I have a November Reads, Sephora Haul, and review posts coming up. My test for my class is this Friday, which I’m nervous for. I passed the practice test with an 80%, but I’m still all stressed about it. I CANNOT fail, if I do I owe my work like 500 dollars for taking the course and test. Since I did well on the practice test, I should be good. I’ve also been studying a lot. As long as I get a 75% (a passing grade), I should be good. I also might be moving! I don’t want to jinx anything, so I’ll just start my post now.
