October Empties

Another month, another empties post. I went through surprising a lot this month. I wasn’t expecting to use up so much, but it seems like a lot of my products are on their last legs. I expect November and December to be heavy months as well. I am grateful that I never lost power in the storm that terrorized New England this week and I pray for the lives lost in the terrorist attack in New York City. That city has gone through way too much. My car was damaged in the storm, but at least, no one got hurt. I hope everyone is having a nice weekend. I’ll be outside playing with my son today.

I am super impressed with what I was able to move out this month. I’m running low on product reviews, so I might disappear during the week with no new posts once in a while. On those weeks, I will be writing product reviews for my blog. I like to hand write them first before typing them up on my blog. Next week will probably be an empty week. I’m going to try to write as many reviews as I can. Maybe I can empty out my review basket. I’m hoping to write ten reviews, because lets face it, there are like 50 products in my review basket right now. lol. If I do 5 reviews a day this weekend, I’ll be happy.

Zesty Paws Doggie Supplements

Zesty Paws

I am lucky enough to be working with the Zesty Paws team again bringing you a review of three different dog supplements that they have to offer. I have to admit, my easy going dog Serena did not enjoy the flavor of these as much as she enjoyed the Chicken flavored Omega Bites. She did eat these though when she realized that she wouldn’t get her Greenie if she didn’t eat these first. The flavor is just not her favorite. They are very good for her though, so withholding a treat works with her.

IMG_2631

I love that the brand is transparent and you know exactly what you are buying as a consumer. I like knowing all the ingredients, where they come from, and how they are going to affect my dog/the benefits. Right now, Zesty Paws are 50% off, so if you are in need of some good quality dog supplements, I would stock up now while you can. I find that these supplements get sold out fairly often. They must be doing something right!

Zesty Paws Probiotic Bites

IMG_2644

These bites are pumpkin flavor and Serena is a meat lover. She still ate these bites, though. I also noticed that her breathe didn’t stink as bad after she had been eating these for a few days. These supplements add in digestion and help dogs maintain a healthy immune system. I do see the benefits of digestion, since part of her bad breath does come from her stomach. I would love to see how it helps to improve her breath and tummy issues. She has a sensitive tummy and usually gets sick twice a year.

Zesty Paws Salmon Bites

IMG_2638

Remember when I said that Serena only likes meat flavors? Well, that does not include Salmon. She wasn’t crazy about it, but she didn’t mind it. These supplements have a bunch of Omega oils that are really good for the skin, joints, and heart. Serena has a heart murmur and arthritis. I know that this is helping to keep her heart healthy and joint pain at ease. It is a bonus that it is also good for her skin and coat as well. I love the fact that all of the supplements are cut in heart shapes. So cute!

Zesty Paws Turmeric Curcumin Bites

IMG_2632

Serena is familiar with the duck flavor and wile it isn’t her favorite, she eats them well. I love that this has coconut oil. It is so healthy for you and great for promoting healthy skin and coat in dogs. This is supposed to be a stronger joint supplement and I do see a slight difference between this one and the Mobility Bites. She seems to run a bit longer eating these supplements. It is also good for immune support and healthy digestion. It is supposed to give your dog more energy and improve cognitive skills. Like I said, I see more energy in her, but she’s always been a smart dog. I didn’t notice her mind being less sharp before these supplements. She’s 10 years old, so these might be better for older dogs are dogs that seem more confused at any age.

Overall, I am so happy to have received more supplements to help out my 10 year old dog Serena. Supplements are great to give at any age, but especially for old dogs to help ease their aches and pains. While she may not gobble these up like the Omega Bites, I know that the benefits are worth a little bit of food coaxing. I highly recommend these supplements and I would try a can while they are on sale.

Zesty Paw’s Premium Supplements

My dogs are the love of my life. Ever since my cat Shadow passed away, I have been giving more thought into the age and comfort of my two dogs: Serena and Eva.

Enter Montague:

Serena is a ten year old Chihuahua and Eva is a nine year old Italian Greyhound. They are really getting up there in dog years and I noticed that Serena was having a hard time moving around lately. Due to their age, I figured that Serena in particular was suffering from arthritis and her coat had gotten a little rougher. She also has a benign fatty tumor besides really bad teeth (the ones that haven’t fallen out) that are being worked on next year for better quality of life. She also has a heart murmur. Serena just has a lot of elderly problems, but I want her last years to be good. Eva still acts like a puppy and is very picky about not eating pills or supplement chews.

Enter Zesty Paw’s Premium Supplements:

pet

I am excited to bring to you premium canine supplements that actually work, are affordable, all natural, and even the pickiest dog will love to take these (or not know that they are!). Serena has been trying out the two different chews everyday for the past month and Eva has been given the liquid supplement in her wet food every night. Here is the breakdown of my thoughts on each item.

Zesty Paw’s Omega Bites

Serena has been eating these every night and she really looks forward to eating these. They are rather big soft chews that are chicken flavored. This is Serena’s favorite chew out of the two. She always eats this one first. These chews are for healthy skin and coat. The wire-like hair on her back has started to soften and her fur is shedding less since starting on these. I have a 90 day supply, which retails for $25. So, it is like paying $8 to $9 a month for a coat supplement. This brand is made in the USA and doesn’t contain common dog allergens, which is true of the whole brand. Not sure I want to spend $100 a month for a coat supplement that doesn’t really do a whole lot, but if you are tired of a lot of dog shedding, this is the product for you. She doesn’t shed nearly as much as she used to. She probably sheds a quarter of what she used to. I have a toddler, so I vacuum daily already. Her hair doesn’t bother us.

Zesty Paw’s Mobility Bites

The Mobility Bites are duck flavored and not Serena’s favorite. It has improved her mobility a ton though! I am so impressed with this product and look at how cute it is cut into tiny little hearts. I will be paying $100 a year for this product. It is that good. Serena used to be lazy and not want to get up. I contributed that to her laziness, but the first night that I gave this to her, she jumped up onto my bed. Now, my bed is high and she hasn’t been able to do it before. Now, she jumps up on my bed to cuddle with easy. It is worth the money to see my 10 year old dog run like a maniac in the backyard like she is a puppy again. If you have an older dog, this is a must buy product. She doesn’t seem to be in as much pain moving around. She still sleeps like a lazy bum, but she can move around and get to where she wants to now.

Zesty Paw’s Salmon Oil

pet

My picky dog Eva doesn’t detect this at all in her wet food. Eva is a very picky eater and any meds that she needs to take, I have to basically shove down her throat. This product makes it nice to just give her a supplement that has everything: healthy heart, joint and immune system, skin and coat, and anit-inflammatory. I love that it has everything and I am planning on purchasing this product myself for both dogs. I just realized just how much good stuff is in one bottle. This is like those two other jars in one plus extras. I really love that Eva doesn’t know that she’s having something really good for her.

After sampling these three products, I’m ready to buy some. A browse through their website shows a lot of unique wholesome products. If you want to take care of your furry family members, I highly recommend this website. They even have stuff for cats!

Selena

Collective April Haul

I am borrowing this blog post type from my friend Danielle over at Dani Writes Reviews. She has a similar type of post on her no buy about what she has bought that month. I really like this sort of post when you don’t really have enough things purchased to do a haul post. I have collected things here and there over the course of April and here is what I have purchased:

Royal and Langnickel Moda Prismatic 4PC Face Perfecting Kit

I had a $10 Walmart gift card from signing up with Ebates and making my first purchase and I also had $2.75 from bottle deposits, so I only spent $5 on this set of makeup brushes out of pocket. I only tried them once and I am really impressed with the big 801 brush. It buffed out my foundation flawlessly in 60 seconds. I am not even joking. I have never done my foundation that fast before and my skin looked more flawless than when I used a Beauty Blender to blend out my makeup.

Physician’s Formula Mineral Wear Cushion Foundation in Medium

I got this in the Walmart clearance section for $6.50 which is 50% off of the original price. I really wanted to try a more matte cushion foundation. Unfortunately, this color is way too dark for me and I will be using this as a contour color instead underneath my foundation. I actually found a foundation that I really enjoy that I am hoping to pick up in May. This would go great underneath that one.

face

Equate Wedge Sponges

You cannot go wrong with cheap sponges infused with vitamin E for $1.88 for 32. I use this to blend my concealer and to tap on liquid highlighter. They are good quality and I am thinking of using one for nail art, specifically with glitter. I heard they are really good to get an opaque coat of glitter.

food

Paw Patrol Reusable Plastic Plate

Dean loves Paw Patrol, but he isn’t old enough to use a plate yet. He just likes to throw it.

Max Studio Pet Bed

This pet bed was only $16.99 at Marshalls. The dogs needed a new bed that would fit both of them in there at the same time. This is still roomy with the two of them in there. They love it and will still fight for it, even though there is room for three.

Fido’s Diner Stonewear

This is their new water dish. No more using my bread pans to give them water. It is cute and deep. They both share the water and will actually take turns. It’s cute!

Yankee Candle in Tropic Island Breeze

This was a great candle. It was very tropical and coconutty, while still being very light and refreshing. Sadly, this candle died, when my dad dropped a can on it and the top of the glass shattered. I’m heading to Marshall’s to try to find this one again. If you can find it, I would give it a good sniff. It was worth the $13 that I spent on it, even though it didn’t make it through. It is also a huge ass candle. It’s 22 oz of candle and I saved a few bucks on it. I never had a Yankee Candle before, now I know what the fuss is about.

Clothes for Dean and Me

Dean’s new clothes are from Macy’s size 12 months and they were $11.99 each. My long sweater tunics are from Forever 21 and they were $11.99 buy one get one free. Dean and I still need more clothes. We need more summer clothes. You might see a few shopping sprees in May, because a. It’s my birthday and b. I really need more clothes. I only have a Fall/Winter wardrobe right now. I decluttered a ton of my clothes that don’t fit anymore.

I think I’m going to start a fitness series to keep my weight loss goals on track and to keep on top of my exercise goals. I think I’ll make an intro post and then update once a month.

Greeting From Maine

Heya Aspiring Gurus!

Last week, my dad thought some fresh air might do me some good, so we went to Maine on Sunday for the day. It was amazing, but cold. We had local fish and chips that was simply amazing. I wish I took pictures of the meal. Not a lot of chips, but a HUGE chunk of beer battered fresh haddock. I didn’t take much pictures, because I was simply enjoying the day. We did a lot of walking and the dogs absolutely loved it. I did feel loads better that day, but it isn’t an easy fix for what ails me. It was great to get out and have some fun. It was ten dollars in tolls to get there but well worth it. We got to Maine at 7 am and left around 2. I am so glad that my dad surprised me with it at 3 o’clock in the morning. Enjoy!

Beauty Ban WK #7

Heya Aspiring Gurus!

I have gone another week without buying any beauty products. YAY for me! My toe is doing much better, but it is still painful. My work hours have changed for the better, which I am very happy about. I am taking on more responsibilities at work and on food day (once a month, everyone brings something food-related to work), I am bringing in two trays of baklava. I am making one tray the traditional way and another tray without any walnuts. I will be substituting it with apples and raisins, so it is kind of more like a turnover. One person at work is allergic to nuts. I want to make sure that she can enjoy the sweet as well. I will be sharing the recipe with all of you. I think that I am making it next week, but it could also be the week after. I’m not sure yet. You can look forward to the recipe on my blog. I don’t have much else to say, so I’ll talk to you guys later.

Beauty Ban WK #5

Heya Aspiring Gurus!

Yep, I went another week without buying anything for myself beauty or otherwise. I want to talk about something personal that just happened today. As I type this, tears are flowing freely out of my eyes and my throat hurts with the grief that time is not on my side. I took my cat Shadow to the vet. Cue picture montage.

ShadowShadowShadow 3Shadow and SerenaShadow 2ShadowConditionerHaulShadow

The very first picture on my blog was in fact Shadow herself. I love her. She has been with me for 13 years so far. Ever since I was ten years old. Since two years ago, she has dropped from 9 to 6.25 pounds. She is so underweight that she has no body fat AT ALL. She has a heart murmur because of how skinny she is. She is at the risk of having a stroke and dying or worse, being paralyzed for the rest of her life. I repeat, I LOVE my cat. It’s the reason why I brought her to the vet. I didn’t THINK she was that bad though. She has always been skinny her whole life, but never this much and she is throwing up every day. I spent 62 dollars at the vet today to get her seen and to have her rabies shot (the only shot she was do for since her distemper lasts for three years and the rabies had just expired). The vet thinks that she has hyperthyroidism or diabetes. Her weight loss isn’t my fault, yet I feel so responsible. She’s my BABY, for crying out loud. I’m supposed to protect her! I’m supposed to KNOW when something is wrong and yet, I didn’t until now.

She is still crazy and running around. I have to make her take it slow. Her condition makes her much more wild than normal. It actually increases activity in cats. Her blood work to confirm in 160 USD. I don’t have that kind of money right now. I spent the money I saved on visits for all three animals. I should have done Shadow first, but I didn’t know. I thought that it was just a diet thing and that they would recommend better food for her, maybe some supplements. I have to wait the couple of weeks for my tax money to come in and she will get that blood work done and the medication that she needs to survive. I’m just worried about her. She could have a stroke at any time. I need this money to come in faster. The vet says that she will put a rush on the results, because time is critical. I just love her so much. I cannot imagine life without her.

Selena

Shadow Approved

PURINA Friskies FLAKED With Tuna
59¢ US CENTS
5.5 oz
Makes five 1.1 oz meals

5 out of 5 stars

Disclaimer: All opinions are my own and I purchased this with my own money.

I mentioned in my Mini KMart Haul that I would be reviewing this and I hope that everyone who has a cat finds this review helpful. My cat is named Shadow, because she loves to follow me everywhere. She is like my little shadow, hence the name. She is a British short-haired cat and is all black except for her tuxedo bow of white. She is 10 years old and has a sensitive stomach. Now that you have an idea of my cat, we can continue unto the review.

1. Usage: I give my cat around 1.1 oz of this wet food a day. I get five meals out of it. I believe that for the price, the product is definitely worth it. 5 out of 5 stars

2. Packaging: The can is very eye-catching with the bright colors and a cute cat. The can was not that important to me, because as long as my cat likes it, I would buy the ugliest can in the world. It was not that important in the overall buying process, but it was cute. 5 out of 5 stars

3. Scent: I do not know of any wet food that does not have a major stench. I hate the smell of tuna, but my cat loves it. So, I put up with it. Tuna is never not going to smell like tuna. As far as wet cans go, this tuna is a lot less smelly than most. 4 out of 5 stars

4. Performance: My cat loves this stuff and looks forward to eating it everyday. I ran out and I feel guilty, because she loves it so. This wet food did not make her sick. It gets my approval. 5 out of 5 stars

5. Ingredients: I know that some people by-products would make them cringe, but my cat loves this and is not sensitive to it. She is sensitive to most foods. As long as there is no parabens or BPA, I will continue to feed this to her. It is so hard to find things that she likes and is not sensitive to. 4 out of 5 stars

6. Results: The verdict is out! I will be repurchasing this, because I have found the best wet food for my cat. I know some people will say that it is hard to judge by 1 can, but if anything changes, I will let everyone know. 5 out of 5 stars

Overall, I give this product 4.6 out of 5 stars. My cat loves this and that is enough for me to keep buying it. Feel free to comment or request anything!
