Entertainment Monthly: March

Heya Aspiring Gurus!

It is that time of the month again, where I share what I have been watching. I always limit these to 5, because I think anymore would get too long. I have actually finished a few series and have watched quite a few movies these past months. I think that I could make four of these, no joke. I might just do that. lol. No, I will have one today and maybe, I’ll upload another one next weekend. I will do four series this week and one movie. All of my shows on ABC Family have ended their seasons recently, so I wanted to do them while they are still fresh in my mind. I watched all of the tv shows while they were airing on cable.

Pretty Little Liars Season 5

This season was so intense and exciting. I could not believe the ending! What a twist! For a long time, I thought A was HannAh, but then, Shepard told us that she would never let A be one of the four girls. So, there blew my theory out of the water. I don’t want to say any spoliers for Dan [say hi!], but you NEED to watch this show. I need someone to gossip with about what is going to happen next. I hope none of them get killed off of the show and it would make things more interesting if Ali is released from prison, which in light of things, will probably happen. I’m bummed that I cannot say anything more for fear of spoilers, but this show has never lost it’s fire. It continues to burn just as bright as season 1. It has been picked up for two more seasons. Could we be looking at least one more A in season 7? I love this show, but honestly? The A game cannot last forever. I hope these actresses get picked for movies and other great tv shows. I would cult follow Ashley Benson and Lucy Hale any day. 5 out of 5 stars

Switched @ Birth Season 4

Talk about losing their fire, I think this show has gone downhill, but the season did pick up at the end. The middle of the season fell flat for me. Is anyone feeling this way? I feel like season 5 should be this show’s last. It’s been dragged out for far too long. I would love to see Lucas play in some other show or to finally come out with his own album. I watch the show, because I have invested too much years into it. I haven’t felt excited about it in a while. It has it’s moments, but with shows like PLL, it just doesn’t compete. 3 out of 5 stars

Chasing Life Season 1

I love this show! I cannot believe how it ended! I cannot wait for Season 2 to come on, so I can see what happens next. This show is really great. It had a couple of ify moments, but overall, I am totally invested in this show. I didn’t think that I would really like it, but it surprised me. It wasn’t at all how I thought it would be. It is very drama filled and entertaining, but it also brings up hard issues in a way that isn’t forceful. This show has made me cry and I love shows that can bring out true emotions from me. This is a must watch. 4 out of 5 stars

The Fosters Season 2

I have to say that I didn’t think this show could get any better, but it did. It dealt with so many different issues and this truly was a family show about a very diverse family. Out of all of ABC Family’s shows, I think that this one really shows you what a true family is like in America. Of course it is dramatized for entertainment, but at its core, it really is a true reflection of what is out there. I look forward to season 3 to see what happens with Callie’s adoption. For some reason, I think that she is going to just choose her dad anyway. Does anyone else get that feeling? 4 out of 5 stars

Men, Women, & Children

I will start off by saying that I had high expectations for this movie based on its great cast of characters and actors and actresses. This move was a total flop to me. It was boring and only really had a small amount of appeal. I thought that it would be really funny, but it was a very serious and at times disturbing movie about how controlling parents can be. It is also about how stupid parents can be as well, when it comes to their children. I didn’t like this movie at all and don’t think that it’s worth watching. I felt like I wasted my time and money. I rented this from Redbox. 2 out of 5 stars

Well, that is it. It was a mixed bunch and the movie was a total fail. What have you been watching and what are your thoughts on the PLL finale???

Entertainment Monthly: October

Heya Aspiring Gurus!

I was all over this month with my taste in movies, which is very similar to my taste in books. I am only going to be highlighting only five movies a month, because listing everything every month would makes these posts really long and totally boring after awhile. To keep things fresh, I believe that five is a very good number to stick to, don’t you? Well, let me get on with it, but before I do, I would just like to say that I appreciate every one of my viewers and subscribers. I am proud to say that I am now at 180 subscribers, which is almost unbelievable. I never dreamed to ever be this successful at my blog and I just wanted to take a moment and thank all of you. Oh! And to answer the question that a few of you have been asking me, I am interested in doing guest posts on your blogs. It would be fun you could do one on mine and I could do one on yours. Just let me know when.

Fun Size

This was a totally cute movie that made me laugh, but was also a little bit too mature considering who produced it. I really enjoyed it, though I won’t be rushing to watch it any time soon. It was just a movie I wanted to watch and then did one day on Netflix. I don’t really care for Victoria Justice, but Spidy and her red-headed best friend made the show worth watching. I would recommend watching it for a few laughs and a warm story.

The Starving Games

OMG! This was so funny! I love parodies and this one did not disappoint on The Hunger Games (and also other films, but largely just that show). This movie had so many great actors in it including a couple of people from Pretty Little Liars (Noel & Mike). The jokes were hilarious and I invite everyone to watch it. You would love it Danielle. It makes fun of the whole concept of the movie, while proving a sadistic point. There is always a point to parodies and its our job to decipher them for ourselves…or search Google. One of the best parodies that I have watched in a long time.

That Awkward Moment

I really disliked this movie. I only watched this movie, because it had Zac Efron in it and it was so not worth watching. I could not even finish this movie that is how boring it was and I also found it very sexist. The feminist in me roared to life, watching this movie and I could not blame her for it. Has anyone else watched this movie? What did you think of it? Is my reaction to this movie unjustly deserved? I just hated it and I don’t see how anyone could like it. A total bomb for Zac.

All Cheerleaders Die

I was really amused by this movie and I was disappointed about the ending. I thought that it would be all about girl power and all that. I just that is just the joy of a horror movie. I really liked this movie. Danielle has been all into horror movies lately, so I thought that I would try them out and I have to admit, this one wasn’t really all that bad. It has gotten me inspired to watch more horror films. The ones that I can watch anyways without any nightmares. This was a nice one and I wish there was a sequel in the works.

The Fault In Our Stars

I loved this movie so much! I cried my eyes out. It was so amazing! Movies hardly ever move me to tears and this one was just breath taking. I didn’t think that this one was going to be as great as it was. It was a touching movie with a predictable ending. I just wish that it hadn’t ended so cliched. If any movie deserved a happy ending, it was this one. It makes me wish that I would have read the book, but it was nice to watch a movie without nit picking every scene. It was refreshing not to know what was coming. A must watch if you could only watch one of my recommendations.

Obsession Entertainment

Heya Aspiring Gurus!

Entertainment Weekly is here again. Once a week, I will talk about what show, movies, and books I am obsessing over and basically just have a lot of spoilers to try to start a discussion. I like to talk a lot about my favorite shows and what’s going to happen next and so on. So, be prepared for spoilers and if you haven’t watched these and plan to, I would say stop reading now! If you are like me and are obsessing over these shows, please comment with our ideas and opinions or even if you’re not, explain why. My list is always incomplete, because I watch so many shows, but I am trying to build up my resume as I go along!

Pretty Little Liars:

Pretty Little Liars Complete Cast

This show just gets me every time. I cannot believe what happened on this week’s episode!  Wren is such a double crosser, but why? What did the girls ever do to him? Every person on the A team has a personal vendetta against the liars. The only thing I can think of is that Wren is in love with Hanna. I felt so bad for Ezra! His son isn’t even his son and the sad part is, the mother knew that to begin with. She took all that money from is mother and probably thought that she could get more from him. When Ezra needed Aria the most, she was out with her knew boy toy. I wonder if she would go back with Ezra now that he is childless? That is the reason why she left him in the first place. She didn’t want to be a mom, plus with A threatening her and all. Now, A is probably CeCe Drake, since Allie ruined her and thought that the other four were in on it as well. The season finale is next week and I am so excited! Are you?

Twisted:

Season 1 Poster

Now that the video is out, will Lacey be publicly with Danny? Or will she turn on him? Probably turn on him, because she still wants to be miss popularity. I cannot believe the ending! It was super funny with that weird girl who remembers everything. LOL. I thought that the girls were overly harsh with Danny considering everything they went through with him and now they are just going to feed him to the dogs. It just doesn’t make much sense, just some added drama, which I find not totally realistic. Jo is still in love with Danny, though. So, maybe there is hope. I hope Danny doesn’t go to jail for the Regina murder. Why did he kill his aunt anyway?

Switched At Birth:

So much drama! YAY! I am glad for all of the drama again. I cannot believe how wild the Bacholorette party got and how Toby’s party went. I feel bad for Toby and Emmett, but now, he has a best man? Are the parents going to ruin Toby’s wedding or will he do that himself? Will Bay find ou that Ty and her father went against her and did nothing to keep him from the war? Will she understand? I have a funny feeling that she will be devastated and very hurt. I cannot believe that Regina backed out at raising the daughter with her “husband”. I guess, babies can get on people’s nerves, plus there is no do-over button like she said. I am looking forward to th season finale. I wonder what will happen to Delphine?

Project Runway:

New Season

I absolutely love the new season of Project Runway. It is all new drama and Tim Gun now has a save in the show. I cannot believe that he is now a cohost! I feel so proud of him that he was able to become not just a mentor, but a core part of the show. I am just happy that he is recognized as such now. I like the new cast and that there is more of a variety of people on it now. I love the new challenges. I don’t think this could ever get boring in my opinion. This is the only reality television show I watch, practically.

Movies I’m Obsessing Over:

Hairspray:

I thought this movie was very hilarious and suggestive at times. I do not think it was a very good, quality movie, but I did enjoy it. There were some parts that left me confused, but those were far and few in between. I only watched it, because I heard so much about it and Zac Efron was in it. Let’s face it. I watch every movie that he stars in, because he’s a great actor and a looker. Hairspray didn’t impress me, but I enjoyed watching it with Danielle.

Sleepover:

When Danielle mentioned this movie, I had to go watch it on Netflix. It was a very cute Teen movie that would be appropriate for young teens to watch. I found it more entertaining than Hairspray, but still, it was too young for me. I can definitely see enjoying this at a younger age though. This is a clean comedy for young teens. It will not disappoint. I loved Sara Paxton in this. I watch every movie she is in. I just love her as an actress!

Books I’m Into:

Fashionably Undead:

This is an audio book that Danielle gave me to enjoy. I have been reading it as I exercise on the Treadmill and I just finished Chapter 3. I really like it so far. It is very interesting and I love the narration. Meg Calbot is one of my favorite authors, so I am happy to be listening to a book I have never heard before by her. I like all the funny accents the narrator puts on in the audio book. This is definitely something different that I recommend.

Web Of Life Shamon Pathways Guidance for Your Life Journey:

I am rereading this book from scratch and having a go at the exercises as well. My computer crashed, deleting the review I had done on this. I promised the author a review by the end of this week, but I have been very busy. I will definitely have a review up by the end of the month. I am a quarter of the way through the book again. You need an open mind to be able to really read this. I do not recommend anyone Catholic or devotedly religious to read this, because you could be offended by the content. The book asks you to connect with a plant’s life force. If this is not your thang, don’t read it. I do really like the abstract concepts in this book, but even I don’t know if I really believe this stuff. This book mentions Wicca, which worried me a bit; however, it mentions nothing of witchcraft. 🙂
