The Retail Diaries: Day 16

Heya Aspiring Gurus!

Today was a very good day at work. I didn’t really have any problems today in regards to people or sales. I was put on a register that had a broken deactivator, so that made things a bit interesting. The deactivator behind me on number 5 was working though. I was on number 4. It made me think of I Am Number 4 for some strange reason. Lol. I don’t have much to say about today. A lady I checked out complimented me on my ring, which was nice. I just had a really pleasant day, which is really rare. I’m on the waitlist for an Ipsy bag and I really cannot wait to start getting my bag!!! I really want it to be soon. I’m trying to earn my Dr. Scholl’s badge on Influenster, so a complete review is in the works. I have a few reviews that will be going up as well as some other posts. I’m really trying to keep things interesting. Let me know if you have any suggestions and what posts you are really loving. Until my next post!

The Retail Diaries: Day 15

Heya Aspiring Gurus!

I had an interesting day at work yesterday. I had to get up early to get to work on time. I had to be there for 9:15am. OMG! LOL. Anyways, I got to work and worked the register like I normally do. Two hours into work, I get moved from my register to in front of the store (inside of course, it was a bit chilly out!) to try to get people to sign up for my store’s rewards program. Needless to say, I did it for 30 minutes and got to go on break with no sign ups in hand. I only had two potential sign ups and one walked right out the door after asking him. I had a nice sandwich at break and worked my register again. I was on number 6 in case you were wondering. Yes, the devil’s number, I know. I actually got one sign up at the register and I got two people to purchase smart/replacement plans. I had a really amazing day, amid people being somewhat rude. I had one lady, who complained about the buy one, get on 50% was misleading, because she couldn’t get a second shoe at 50%. The shoe was already on sale. The buy one, get on 50% off is only for regularly marked shoes. Another young girl complained about the makeup being 50% off. It was not. The makeup was buy one, get n 50% off. People just do not read the signs. I love the people who once you ask them, if that is it for their purchase and if they have any coupons, and they say no. That suddenly they now have coupons after you totalled up their order and they want to add a coupon and an additional purchase. I cannot add anything on and they get upset at me, because they never head of that before. They never did it at my store then. UGH! Other than that, I had a good day. It was a holiday, so I got paid time and a half, plus I got paid an additional 75 cents and hour, because I sold a one year and two-year smart plan. I made a lot of money yesterday. I signed up for Ipsy. Hopefully, I will get a bag soon and be off the waitlist. I’m sorry about not blogging on Sunday. I ended up at the ER, because of an intestinal blockage. I was given morphine for pain and a prescription to get things moving. I need to go back to the doctors and reevaluate my maintainance drugs. I have IBD, which is Irritable Bowel Disease. I can get physical abnormalities that can only be fixed by medication. I actually had “stool” blocked up in my intestines that was making me ill and put me in the hospital. If I hadn’t gotten to the hospital sooner, I could have torn my intestines and needed to have surgery. IT is definitely not a light matter. Anyways, on a lighter note, I received my Snapple sample today. It came with four teas, so I cannot wait to try them and give you all my impressions of it. Until my next post!

The Retail Diaries: Day 14

Heya Aspiring Gurus!

I’m writing today’s post on time. Yay! I went to work at 11 am today and worked until 4 pm. I had some problems, because of those damn Republicans! No one with food stamp cards can use them. The whole system is down, until they are done with their temper tantrum over Obama’s heath care plans. I really think this whole political system is royally fucked and messed up to the extreme. Excuse my French. Food stamps and programs such as WICK should not be cut. These people and children cannot afford to feed themselves and have a home to live in. The government is crushing the average poor American and it is sickening. I felt so horrible turning these people away with no food. There should be some way to help these people. It’s just sad. I had a rude lady at work today, who was too impatient to wait for a price check then left when the manager was going to talk to her. Basically, she was lying about seeing a different price that didn’t exist. I went shopping after work. I bought my dad a pair of jeans for his birthday. They ended up being 10 something with my discount. I bought Maxwell House Dark Roast coffee, another package of Kleenex Hand Towels, and a Garnier eye roller. If you guys want, I can give a first impressions about the eye roller. I didn’t really buy enough for a decent haul, so I mentioned it here instead. I made my Lush wishlist todah, which I will be posting about tomorrow. So excited for unboxing!!! Until my next post!

The Retail Diaries: Day 13

Heya Aspiring Gurus!

I have another crazy story for you all today. I was having a great day at work and had a yummy lunch of Cheese itz! Yes I know, not very nutritious, but I did have Tang! It was amazing. I couldn’t find Tang mix in forever. I love it so much. Anyways, I had a rude guy in my line near the middle of my shift after my break. He was grimy and dirty in his uniform. I think he was a mechanic and he started swearing at me, because I was asking him a lot of questions. It’s my job to ask questions. I could be fired for not asking them. The company that I work for could be sued for discrimination, if I don’t ask my questions. My boss P came over and talked to the guy. He basically told him that he couldn’t abuse the cashier (me) and if he continued to do so he would be asked to leave without purchase. So, he just mumbled under his breath and paid without incident. I hate rude people, but what am I to do? My mother and brother left for Maine later that night and I was happy. For once, I’ll have a peaceful weekend without my mother yelling and without the stress of being around her. I’m looking at a few apartments that are new. I’m hoping to get out and move out in the next couple of months. It’s really hell living the way my dad and I am. I want to end this on a more happier note. I will have another post up tonight and I had Chinese today. I know. You’re jealous. Until my next post!

The Retail Diaries: Day 12 & Shoutout to @fleurdeforce!

Heya Aspiring Gurus!

I know it’s late, but I just finished watching all of my new youtube videos and the Katy Perry music videos that I never saw before. Both of those things I really loved today. I am particularly enjoying Fleur’s Vlogtober, I love her videos and these are just the best uncut videos of her just being her. Her youtube name if you don’t already know is Fleurdeforce. She is such a sweet inspiring woman and I love that she got married to Mike. He’s the perfect guy like my John. Maybe there will be wedding bells for me as well. Anywho, work went well today….or so I thought. Near the end of my shift is where I got into a wee bit of trouble. I’ll start with the goods first. I got my discount card to my work!!! It is 10% off all merchandise, but a whomping 25% of clothes and shoes!!! So, Danielle you may want to go shopping with me, if you are ever in the neighborhood or the next time we meet we can plan to do some shopping. You know where I work. She’s in the need to know. If I work there for 90 days, I’ll get an actual card card instead of a paper one. I’m actually looking into different jobs, now that I have lowered my car payment. I’m paying for it and my living expenses get picked up by my daddy. I just have to buy for all the things I want, the car, certain food items that aren’t necessaries, gas, and thats pretty much it. I don’t make a whole lot and I’m trying to save. But I think I’ll be working retail for at least the end of this year, so there are many more episode posts to go. Anyways, onto more good. I got my discount card early. I’m supposed to get it the 20th and then wait 90 days from there, but my bosses P and C were so enthused by me that I am offically unnew. It only took 11 days and now I’m considered one of the regulars! So happy. I really kinda wanna keep this job even if I get another and just work weekends or day offs that I get. I really like the discount…I keep on degressing, but that’s why you all love me! 🙂 I had a lady’s check get declined and she had to leave and come back to buy her purchases. The big thing that happened today was that this lady came in with a loaded car and started throwing items at me asking the prices of everything. She was asking and throwing things faster than I could work. She was very rude and inconsiderate. She asked another cashier to take her son to the bathroom. Then, she argued with me about prices, but I was very firm about not being able to manipulate prices. When I totalled her out, there were replacement plans that she could buy, but she couldn’t understand me. There was a tiny language barrier, but she was speaking perfect english BEFORE she came into my line. Then, she paid for her purchase and tried giving me two pennys for a donation. The minimum is a dollar and it’s virtual, not physical. Then, she got fustrated with me and said she was late for an appointment and left two items of her purchase. Basically, what she was trying to do was to swindle me out of money. She was trying to confuse me in order to confuse me enough to the point that I would give her more money…It didn’t work. My boss C talked to me and told me that if another customer makes me feel uncomfortable again, she would assist me and ask security to watch the cameras. Later, she told me that the lady was trying to steal people’s cell phones. She would ask to borrow their phone then try to walk off with the phone. So, that part of my day wasn’t fun but the rest was great! Until my next post!

The Retail Diaries: Day 11

Heya Aspiring Gurus!

Today was another great day at work. I breezed through the day with lags in customers than at times, a large volume of customers that my line is six people long. I learned how to do a 30 day order and scanned 30 gift cards. It is insane about how many gift cards I scanned. Anyways, I had a few customers argue about prices in  the store, resulting in some voiding of transactions. Apparently, you cannot buy prepaid cards with a credit card, even if you use it as debt. I didn’t see the girl at work today. I hope I see her soon. We get assigned wacky hours, so it could be awhile before I see her again. My discount card is ready to be picked up tomorrow, so that gets me very excited to start saving even more money. I am a big purchaser at the retail store that I work for. If you read my blog, you might be able to guess it, but I am not at liberty to confirm it. I really am enjoying my week. My Dr. Scholl’s Active Series insoles compliments of Influenster are really making a difference with my feet. They aren’t sore anymore! It makes me super happy to have less pained feet. I really love them for standing for long periods of time and walking. Well, that’s it. Until my next post!

The Retail Diaries: Day 10

Heya Aspiring Gurus!

Yesterday, I had a really great day at work. I didn’t make any mistakes and even made a few new friends at work. One of them shared a candy bar with me. I tried paying her half, but she wouldn’t let me. She said that friends share things. I don’t like oweing someone anything, especially people I don’t really know. I know she was being nice. The next time I see her in the break room, I’m going to buy a candy bar and ask her if she wants some. That way I don’t feel awkward about this sharing. I always feel awkward when the sharing is one sided with someone I don’t really know. If you’re my friend, I can understand sharing a lot better, because it comes naturally in a friendship. Maybe she was trying too hard? Or am I taking this all too far/seriously? I don’t know. Maybe I take things too seriously, but this is how I am. Deal with it. Lol. That’s it for now. I’m writing today’s post after I eat. See you guys soon!

The Retail Diaries: Day 9

Heya Aspiring Gurus!

I had a really great day today at work! I’m thinking about making these posts once a week instead of everyday of work. What do you guys think? Would you rather have a weekly wrap up or do you enjoy the daily entries? It doesn’t matter much to me. I rather like to post everyday and make it more of a diary than a weekly episode. Anyways, I sold two smart plans today, so I earned an extra 50 cents an hour today. Let me tell you, a little bit of cash really adds up. I’ll earn an extra 1.00 in my paycheck. That’s enough for a candy bar. Yum! I didn’t have many problems today. My deactivator was broken on my register, so when the lady tried to leave, her purchase sent the alarms off. Opsy! They switched me to a different register that was working properly and I had no more problems in that department. I had a couple of people in my line smell strongly of cigarettes and it made me physically cough. Ew! I had one lady decide not to buy her purchase and had to void the whole purchase. I had Tang for my drink at break and a chunky peanut butter and concord grape jelly sandwich on whole wheat bread. I worked some more and soon enough it was time to leave. When I came home, I had my Dr. Scholl’s Active Series Influenster Voxbox waiting for me. I did an unboxing video that I will upload tomorrow and later this week, I will have more posts about it and of course some beauty posts, including an empties and a September favorites!! Until my next post!

The Retail Diaries: Day 8

Heya Aspiring Gurus!

Friday was a relaxing work day for me. I signed up one person for a credit card and will be getting an extra 2 dollars added to my pay check. It makes me excited and happy. Not much happened really, which was great. It made for a relaxing day. I didn’t have to work the weekend, which was nice. This upcoming week I do have to work on Saturday, but it isn’t a big deal for me since the following Tuesday I get the day off. Ummm….. I feel bad for not having much to report from memory for Friday. Today’s work day is still fresh in my mind, but Friday is escaping me. I had a very uneventful weekend. I’m hoping for a better week this week. Until my next post!

The Retail Diaries: Day 2

Heya Aspiring Gurus!

Thursday was my second day on e-learning at my new job. I worked another four-hour shift from 1 to 5pm. It was more of the same thing, except I had a sore throat that day. So, I was also popping lozenges like crazy. I brought a better snack to work also for my fifteen minutes break. I bought a Sprite and add corn chips from Tostino’s or however you spell it. I punched in and out of work on the register. My supervisor had a lunch that smelled very good and made me starving, so I took my break earlier than usual. The security at my work was monitoring a shoplifter in progress. That was very exciting, although the shoplifter did decide not to shoplift after all, so there were no cops involved. Security cannot apprehend a suspect, until they try to leave the store with the stolen merchandise. There was nothing really exciting going on at work. I was learning more and more about my company and what their policies are and things like that. I learned some things that I didn’t already know and was very impressed about the things that I learned about the company. These things I am not privy to tell you about, since I have a confidentiality agreement with the company. I am choosing not to disclose the name of the company, so that I can bypass their social media rules. I still cannot disclose specific information, but I can tell you of good and bad experiences that I am having at my job without endangering my job. I have one more retail post to do today for this week and day 4 is going to be on Monday, since I am going in at 11 am for register training.

Until my next post!
