Sephora Lust List

I’d thought that I would quickly share my Sephora Love’s List with all of you while the sale is still going on. I will not be buying from the sale this year, but I am buying a ton of stuff from Victoria Secret’s. I qualified for one of their credit cards and I have my bonus for getting my degree in my next paycheck. I thought that I would charge my credit card now and get the $20 dollar gift cards when you spend $40. I plan on spending somewhere around $100 at VS, but with the gift cards that would be $140. So, basically instead of spending $100, I would basically be spending $60 when you add the two giftcards into the mix. I really need some new bras and underwear. I’m hoping to get some clothes too if I like anything.

I’ll be buying furniture with my other 250 of the raise. I might add another $50 towards shopping at my favorite thrift store, but more on that later.

I don’t have any pictures, but that’s okay. You can quickly search for the images on Sephora. I only use pictures that I own on my blog. My posts will be a bit on the quicker side this week, since I have so much going on. I hope everyone has a great week. I’m hoping to get my monthly makeup bag post up tomorrow if I find the extra time. I have the pictures all done since before November. I had pink eye this week and I’m dealing with a wart on my hand. Not good conditions to have to blog with.

Sephora BI Sale

I had to buy something during the 10% off Beauty Insider sale at Sephora. I had been eyeing an expensive item for a while now and I finally bit the bullet for my birthday. I still have $100 to spend at Sephora for my birthday. I had put aside $100 to treat myself for working all year from my taxes and I had $30 left over from last Christmas that I didn’t spend. I had $50 left over from my treat yourself money. So, I had just enough to get this product without dipping into my birthday reserve! I am going to the Mall this weekend to have a swatchfest at Sephora to see if I really  do want any of the pallets that I have on my loves list.

Hourglass Ambient Lightening Edit Surreal Light Pallet

This was the 2016 Holiday pallet that Hourglass released and I love it so much! The setting powder keeps my face oil free all day with a glow that does not look wet at all. All of these powders give me a lit from within glow that looks very natural. The bronzer is a bit dark for my face right now, but I love the other powders so much. The finishing powder  is Surreal Light, which is very skin tone like and sets the face beautifully. I never thought that I would like shimmery face products, but these look more glowy than shimmery. The two blushes are Surreal Glow (the nude one) and Surreal Effect (the brighter pink one). The brighter one is more pink than corral on me. I like to put the bright one on the apples of my cheeks then blend the nude one out to the back of my cheeks. The bronzer is Surreal Bronze Light, which is a tad dark right now. I use it to warm up my forehead and jaw line. It is too dark right now to sculpt under the cheeks with. The highlighter is Surreal Strobe Light and I love the punch it gives to my cheeks. It is so pigmented without being in your face but VERY noticeable. With tax, I spent $75.50 on this. It was worth every penny, plus I save $8 on it.

The only sample that I got what I chose is the Clinique foundation. I used to wear Clinique and I want to see if it still goes with my skin. I don’t mind more skin care samples, so I am happy with my other two foil samples. I couldn’t get a deluxe sized sample, because you can only use one code and I chose the 10% off. I think it’s stupid that I couldn’t also get a deluxe sample. All the VIB rouges received a free makeup brush with purchase, which is nice but I’m never going to spent $1000 in a year at Sephora. I’ll be lucky to make VIB in a year, which it may be my first year being a VIB. I can almost guarantee that it’s not going to happen next year.

Do you pick up anything during the sale?

Sephora Haul

Yes, I did it again and I will do it again during the BI sale. I got my invite in the mail this week and I was so excited. I thought it was only for VIB and VIB Rouge. I think it’s new this year that BIs are invited. If I would have known, I would have saved my money to buy this stuff during the sale. I still got a great deal and I don’t regret my purchases. You can look forward to another haul at the end of April/beginning of May. I don’t know how the shipping will be and I’m a bit sad that I still haven’t received my Play box yet.

Let’s get into what I purchased at Sephora this time! I paid a total of $53 dollars including tax and earned $2 dollars cash back on Ebates. If you sign up with Ebates, your first purchase on $25 dollars will earn you a $10 gift card and I chose Walmart. I should be getting mine in a few weeks. Ebates is so easy to use and I love earning cash back and they just send you a check. It is like extra money. I love it!

Sunday Riley U.F.O. Ultra-Clarifying Face Oil for $40 USD

I am so excited to have this in my collection! I have wanted something from Sunday Riley forever. It is a cult favorite and everyone loves it because the products really work. I knew that I wanted one of the oils, because oil lasts a  really long time. A little goes a long way and a 1 oz oil from Palmer’s lasted me two years. I also wanted the small 0.5 fl oz bottle to make sure that this works for my skin, before having an oil that’s going to last me a very long time. The bottle is so fancy! It is heavy and the packaging makes it feel like a luxury product. It is supposed to be a really good acne fighter and clear pores. I am looking forward to putting this in my medicine cabinet and putting it to good use. It is GREEN. It is so fun when products add a surprising element and have funny names. Hopefully, this oil is out of this world. If it lasts me 6 months and I like it, I will repurchase it. I think $40 is not a bad price for a face oil that works and lasts a long time. I don’t plan on using this every night. I’ll start out with once every 4 days and build it up to every other night. I want to avoid the purging stage….

Sephora Bright Set Loose Finishing Powder in 01 Banana for $7 USD

I needed a new setting powder, since my Cover Girl is running low. I don’t like that one much, so I decided to try this one. It was on sale and I thought why not. It is made to brighten your face and is good to use to set your under eye concealer. I will be trying this one out after I finish up the Cover Girl. I don’t want too many powders open at once. I’m hoping this one won’t be too dark to use all over. It worries me that it’s “banana” colored. I don’t want it to look too yellow on my skin. Either way, it was a good deal for the price. I also have a loose white powder that I can use if this goes too dark/yellow for me.

Sephora Rose Lip Mask for $3 USD

mask

I love a good mask like any other girl out there. I’ve never tried a lip mask before, so I really wanted to try one. I don’t know when I’ll use this. I kinda want to save it for when I really think my lips need it. You might not see a review of this for awhile. I’ve been loving rose scented stuff lately, so that’s the reason why I bought the rose.

MUF Ultra HD Microfinishing Loose Powder Free With $25 Purchase

As if I needed more powder, this is the white powder I was talking about earlier. You get a decent amount for a deluxe sized sample. I am always trying to find the next best powder, so I am excited to try it out.

Benefit The Porefessional Matte Rescue Sample

I’m so happy. I actually got the samples that I wanted this time around. It is a matifying primer that is supposed to be super lightweight and a water-based gel. I really want to find a good primer that works with my combination skin. I haven’t found one that has really wowed me yet.

It Cosmetics CC+ Cream with SPF 50+ Sample

sam

I have this on my Sephora loves list. This is something I’ve been thinking about buying lately. I love foundation, but I also want it to look natural on my skin. This seems to be a product that would do something like that. I can never find anything to match me ever, so I’ve always been disappointed in face products. They are never the right color and I don’t like to wear them. I got the shade medium, so hopefully I like it. I can always get a shade down if I like the formula.

Urban Decay Optical Illusion Complexion Primer and Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup

I figure I can use the darker ones for bronzer and contour colors. I’ve always wanted to try more stuff from Urban Decay, so I took a chance and chose this sample. I’m hoping that I like them, but if not, I’m not gonna cry about it. It was just something fun to try.

Well, that’s it for my haul. Come back in a couple of weeks for the next Sephora haul. Have you bought anything from Sephora lately?

With Love ❤

Motherhood Is Forever

Heya Aspiring Gurus!

I got a really great deal on some maternity bras. They were on clearance, plus they were on sale buy two get one free. The bras ended up being 13.94 USD for three of them, which is a fantastic deal! These bras offer so much more support and I encourage anyone who is four months along or more to invest in some good maternity bras. My boobs feels so much better and aren’t as sore. The support is amazing and they are the only bras that I wear now. You are the same size that you were before being pregnant at Motherhood Maternity, so sizing is very easy. I’m a small/medium size. It is their in-between size.

brabrabra

I also signed up for a year of three different magazines for 2.99 USD. They were having a special sale that week, so I am getting Parenting Magazine, Family Circle, and some other baking magazine with recipes in it. Also for purchasing the magazine, I got a free magazine with a bunch of cupcake recipes. I also got two bags full of freebies for having to wait so long in line. I got binkies and diapers and wipes and a ton of coupons! I need to buy a storage bucket for all of my baby things or some furniture to store it all in.

magazinefreebies

That is my little haul from Motherhood Maternity. I might have a new bed haul in the future. I’m looking at mattress sets that are discounted to 150 USD for a Queen. I will then be looking for a frame at consignment shops for one that I will like. I really want something white or gold to go with my Tiffany Blue walls. Hopefully, I will complete it in August and can show all of you real soon. I will also get a new bedding set and everything. A nice treat to a soon to be mommy!

A Beautiful Concept

The Stone Protector (Keepers of the Flame, #1)The Stone Protector by Melissa F. Hart

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I promise to be brutally honest with my opinion, but it should not be taken as fact. Any reader should read it for themselves, before they decide if this book has any merit or not. Do not judge this book biased solely on my opinion. If you do, you might miss out on a great read. You never know. It could happen. My review may contain spoilers, but I really strive to be spoiler-free. I downloaded this book for free on Amazon.com. This book was not suggested nor “gifted” to me by the author. I have no affiliation with the author or his/her publisher. This book is more of a novella than a novel. It is very short; therefore, do not expect to be reading this more than a couple of hours. I finished this story in two hours. I am a fast reader, so a slower reader may have a longer read.

For a limited time, this book is free on amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Stone-Protector-Keepers-Flame-ebook/dp/B00BKKHSIQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1372440516&sr=8-1&keywords=The+Stone+Protector

1. Strong Main Character/ Female Heroine: Luanne is a really sarcastic little girl, who has not grown up much. The reader learns why she is the way she is, but it is still not satisfying that she falls in love in the end. It seems too clichéd for her and I expected more for her, especially in light of what happened to her in the past. I like the person that she becomes in the end, but she is so confused that I do not think that she sees that she is stronger than Dylan and does not need him to save her. 3 out of 5 stars

2. Strong Main Character / Male Hero: Dylan is the male hero of our story, but I quite like the fact that he does not save our heroine in the end. It made his character a lot more bearable, because I feel like he is a bit of a narcissist that can be very vulnerable at times. His softness seems a bit out of character. 4 out of 5 stars

3. Strong Main Character / Evil Antagonist: The evil mastermind would have to be Lord Morrison, but the reader does not know about him until the end and then, he does not really matter anyways. I felt like this character could have been anyone. 2 out of 5 stars

4. Strong Minor Characters: The grandmother, Katrina, is really the only minor character in this story and she is a very important one. I felt like I liked her the best in this book out of all of the characters. She took things seriously and was not afraid to die to do what she believed was right. I did not feel that the other characters had these qualities or were as enduring to the reader. 5 out of 5 stars

5. The Plot: The concept of the plot was very interesting and I become very excited about it. The author horribly executed the writing, but I still thought that the plot was worth it. I have never read anything quite like this book and not because of the writing. I feel like the concept has never been done quite like in this way. 4 out of 5 stars

6. The Setting: Not much of a setting, but yet again, there was not much to this story. Still, I would have liked to see more descriptions of the house and the rooms that the characters went through. I feel like there could have been more. I am not one to gloss over descriptions. I drink them up. 2 out of 5 stars

7. The Dialogue: The most natural part of this book has to be the dialogue. It really was about the only part of the writing that was done right, without adding confusion into the plot. I feel like everyone was talking the way they should due to their background. No one’s voice sounded out of place with their character. 5 out of 5 stars

8. Engaging Surprises: There were a couple of surprises for such a short book, but I did not really feel like they were surprises more like what the hell just happened and then confusion. Surprises are supposed to shock you and make you more invested into the story. These surprises were more confusing than shocking, because there was never any background on the surprises that made you understand what exactly was going on. 2 out of 5 stars

9. Climax: At least in this novella that I read, there was a massive fight scene that was very satisfying, despite the writing issues. I do think that it was resolved too neatly though and the reader never fully grasped what really happened with Luanne, since it is really glossed over. I wish there was more of an effort put into this scene to make it last longer, but also give some clarity to the reader to get them to invest more of their time into the story. 3 out of 5 stars

10. Emotional Response: I literally had no melty response to this novella. I was frustrated, confused, and angry or indifferent to how the characters would end up. I enjoyed the plot, but was not invested in the story due to a writing style that left more to be desired. 2 out of 5 stars

11. Ending: The ending of the novella was very satisfying and tied up neatly into a pretty little bow. Although, personally I would prefer a less tidy ending, it made the book worth the read in my opinion. Did I cry? No, but I was glad that it ended the way it did…although very predictable. 3 out of 5 stars

12. The Writing: I have to say that although I love the unique plot, I am not a fan of this author’s writing. The writing is all over the place. This author switches from third person narration to first person from Luanne’s perspective, then to Dylan’s perspective in the first person, and back and forth through all of these styles of narration and without any warning do we go. I would have liked to see some type of break like Dylan’s POV or something similar to that. All the switching of writing styles left me confused and irritable. I did get it after a while, but it lessened my enjoyment of the book and I really do not want to read the seconds book. I am afraid that it will be just like this one and that would ruin the story for me….although, I do want to continue…I don’t want to risk my money on it. I am not saying that writing like this is necessarily bad. I did enjoy a book called Turned that switched up POVs, but not in the middle of a chapter and it was very limited with how many chapters were a different POV from the main character and they were relatively short. I just think that the author could have done a much better job at writing this story. 1 out of 5 stars

13. The Artwork: I love, love, love the cover to this novella!!! Although looking through the series as a whole it is the same model with slightly different facial expressions and looks like one photo shoot where the author chose the first three pictures, the model is very beautiful and flawless. I love attractive covers, so I am a bit biased. The only criticism of this cove is that the model looks stiff in her shot, but it sort of fits the character, especially in this book. 5 out of 5 stars

14. Genre: The genre of this book is definitely a paranormal romance. There is a strong supernatural element and the romance comes later in this short book. It is a very fitting YA genre, but I question if it would not turn into more romance and less paranormal elements present. I really hope the author keeps the novel strongly paranormal with the romance to just sweeten the deal. 5 out of 5 stars

15. Title: I have to say that the title says it all. I really enjoy the title. The only title that would be a better fit than this one would be if it said “The Stone Keeper”. Keeping the title the way it is adds more mystery to the plot, but I still think that it would be a small sacrifice. This new title does not give the story away, until the reader figures it out. I really enjoy titles that describe the book perfectly and although this title is not perfect, it is very close. 4 out of 5 stars

Overall, I give the novella 3.3 out of 5 stars. So, I would have to give it three stars. I feel like this book is average and that some people might enjoy it, but the writing really deters me. If you agree with me in the writing section, then I would advise you not to read this book, because you will be disappointed. If my review does not faze you, then go ahead and read it. I hope you enjoy it.

Pink Grapefruit Lather

The Body Soap Pink Grapefruit Soap
4 for 10 US DOLLARS (SALE)
3.5 oz
The Soap

4 out of 5 stars

FTC Disclaimer: All opinions are my own. I purchased this product myself as a birthday present.

1. Usage: This bar of soap lasted me a month, which is impressive. I didn’t use this every time I showered, (I have other products as well to use up.) but a month is still a really long lifespan for a soap that you used at least 4 days a week. Plus, I used this when I took a bath as well….Maybe, I did use this 7 days a week…Anyways, guys use a lot more soap than girls or at least, my guy does. He seems to go through this kind of soap in two weeks. Good value for the lasting power still. 5 out of 5 stars

2. Packaging: This soap comes in pink tinted packaging, so you can see the product itself which is a smart idea. The soap is pretty in a nice baby doll pink and was wrapped up like a candy bar. No fancy packaging here, but I like the simple plastic wrapper. I just wish it was wrapped in paper rather than light plastic. 4 out of 5 stars

3. Scent: The soap has a really tart pink grapefruit scent that is really true to life of an actual pink grapefruit. I was surprised by the scent at first, but I really enjoyed it. It was a nice crisp scent that was energizing like most citrus scents are. The scent does not linger on the skin after the shower, so it is perfect for men to use as well. You won’t smell like a pink grapefruit! But the scent does last in the bathroom air for a while after. 4 out of 5 stars

4. Performance: The soap lathers very well into a creamy, foamy mixture. The lather is white however; it was a bit disappointing to not see pink foam and the more I used the soap, the less vivid pink the bar was. It became a really light pink near the end. I enjoyed the clean feeling that this soap gave me. I didn’t feel like I needed to use any shower gel after to get a squeaky clean feel. I do not feel like this soap harshly strips the skin of dirt either. 4 out of 5 stars

5. Ingredients: Well, this soap does not contain harsh detergents such as lauryl sulfates that strips the skin of natural oils that it needs for moisture and protection against pathogens. I like that there are no parabens and not a lot of chemical ingredients in this product. It contains two dyes, but it gives the soap that pretty pink coloring so I can live with the little bit of dye there is in this. I am really happy with the ingredients! 5 out of 5 stars

6. Results: The soap is way better than the store variety, but my body was still slightly allergic to this siap. I am allergic to cream-based soaps and glycerin ones are better for me. Shower gel does not give me a reaction whatsoever. I do not appreciate having red marks on my skin after having a shower or tiny bumps on my back. I am going to be giving my boyfriend a couple of bars of soap and use up the remaining bars I have. Maybe, it was just this particular scent. 2 out of 5 stars

Overall, I give this soap 4 stars out of 5. I cannot believe that I broke out 4 even. *laughs* That’s kind of amazing. I would repurchase for my boyfriend or to give this as a gift. As an aside, I gave away my Chocomania soap to a man in my life. I couldn’t stand the masculine scent of coco powder and Cheyenne pepper, but he loved it. Just wanted to let you know about this particular scent. Have you tried The Body Shop? What are you loving of their’s?

Wrecked
By: Elle Casey

3 out of 5 stars

Disclaimer: All opinions are my own. I bought this book for free on Amazon.

If you like this review and want to read this book, it is currently half off on Amazon for 2.99

1. Heroine: Sarah was very whiny and bratty. I did not like her, until almost halfway through the book. Kevin was more likeable than his twin and very macho. I did not like him at the end of the book, because he acted like a complete jerk. Jonathan was very nerdy and cute. He was my favorite character. Candi has very low self-esteem and she annoyed me a lot more than Sarah, but I ended up liking her faster. 3 out of 5 stars

2. Evil Antagonist: The parents are the only ones for awhile in the book. There is a quick switch in the middle of the book, but in the end, the real antagonist is a parent yet again. 2 out of 5 stars

3. Minor Characters: Not worth mentioning, since they did not have real supporting roles. 1 out of 5 stars

4. Plot: It was interesting, but very predictable. I do not think that the author did anything new with it. It reminded me of Blue Lagoon to a tee, except with more characters. 2 out of 5 stars

5. Setting: There were a lot of descriptions that kept everything interesting and fresh. I really enjoyed the scenery. 5 out of 5 stars

6. Dialogue This author is the best with making the characters talk believably, but at times, I thought it was very cliche. 4 out of 5 stars

7. Surprises: There were not many surprises. Everything seemed really predictable; however, I did find that there was a major surprise at the end that made reading this book worth it and hooked me into the series. 3 out of 5 stars

8. Climax: There was not much of a climax or a high hitting point for me. Everything kind of flowed together. 2 out of 5 stars

9. Response: I found myself emotionally involved in this story and looking forward to what happens next to the characters. I did not have a lot of emotional responses, but I am invested in the story. 4 out of 5 stars

10. Ending: There was a heart stopping ending to the story that had me wanting more of my favorite characters and the new challenges they were going to face. 5 out of 5 stars

11. Writing: The writing by this author is excellent quality with little to no errors in it. 5 out of 5 stars

12. Artwork: The picture could definitely be better to attract more readers. 2 out of 5 stars

13. Genre: This is a YA adventure and romance book with more romance than adventure really. 5 out of 5 stars

14. Title: Wrecked is perfect. I would not change it for anything. It sums up the book perfectly in one word. Their lives will forever be Wrecked. 5 out of 5 stats

Overall, I give this book 3.4 out of 5 stars. I will be continuing the series. Feel free to comment or request anything.
