September Haul

I have a ton of pictures of items that I have bought over the past month and more. I pick up an item here and an item there and before you know it I still have items from May that I have yet to show on my blog. I picked up a few things in September and I’ll mix in a couple of older items as well. I’m going to make a separate post of things that Dean has been getting. I buy Dean way more stuff than myself. I am going to limit myself to showing 5 items in this post. I might make my October haul post early, because I still have quite a few items to still show. Maybe,  I’ll do a separate clothing haul for September as well. I bought Dean a coat, boots, and a hat with gloves. I didn’t take pictures of those things though. They aren’t that exciting. Maybe, I’ll show a picture of him wearing all four items.

Olay Age Defying Eye Cream

I picked this up a while ago when it was on sale for $5 at Walmart before making the decision to go cruelty free. I’m not sure if Olay is cruelty free or not, but I will be using this eye cream once I run out of some. It seems like a basic bitch eye cream. Nothing really fancy to it. I only need my eye cream to moisturize my eye area during the day. I do eye treatments at night when it can really sink in.

Harvest Snaps

Dean and I have been enjoying these snacks together. It is healthy for you and gives that satisfying crunch of a potato chip. I like the spicier mixes since it hides the flavor of the beans better. I really enjoyed the tomato basil, but Dean and I didn’t really like the Caesar. I should probably finish those up soon so they don’t go stale. I will be repurchasing a few more spicy flavors. Also, it is $1.50 a bag. Pretty cheap if you ask me.

Glade Cozy Autumn Cuddle Candle

I have to say, although I just bought this candle a few weeks ago, I am almost done with it. I love the Fall scent of this candle and I couldn’t stop burning it. I am in love with the scent of spiced pumpkin. I need to make a Marshall’s run or something. All of my candles are almost out and while these Glade candles are amazing, they are expensive at almost a $1 an ounce. If I don’t head  to Marshall’s soon like tomorrow, I might have to buy another Glade candle to get me through.

Cardamom & Coffee Exfoliating Bar Soap

I don’t usually enjoy bar soap, but I really liked this one. My dad stole it from me and has been using it. I think he likes it more than me, but I really enjoyed how moisturized my skin felt after using this. I found it at Marshall’s and would buy it again if I can find it.

Halls Defense Drops

I religiously use these every Winter/Flu season and I hardly ever get sick. I think these drops are a good reason why. I take one every day to get my daily supply of Vitamin C that fights against colds and free radicals. I will continue to repurchase this, because I really do believe that they help. I’ve been doing this for two years and I only ever got a sore throat last Winter. I used to ALWAYS get sick and now, I hardly do. The only thing that I have changed (besides getting pregnant and having a baby) are these Halls drops. I don’t believe in coincidences.

I realized while writing this post that I bought a TON of stuff for Dean over the past month or so. I will for sure be doing one or two Dean hauls and a clothing haul. I’m going to spread them out a bit though. You can see another haul post next weekend and probably every weekend in the month of October. It’s a dreary rainy day here.

September Empties

I have not counted my empties beforehand so it will be a complete surprise to see how many products I have used up this month. I am happy to have finish at least one full sized item this month that I can remember and I am really proud of myself. It was a big 2 oz night time face cream that I didn’t particularly enjoy. So, even if I only finished up like 20 things, I feel like I have accomplished so much more. Let’s get into seeing what I used up this month instead of continuing this long intro.

24 products empty isn’t a bad number to end the month with. I already have four or five empties in my basket right now and I’m sure I’ll have more soon. It seems like some things are running out all at once, but I have backups. I’m hoping that October brings a solid 20 product month as well. I’m usually very happy with using up 20 products a month. I know that may seem like a lot to other people, but I have a ton of deluxe and sample sizes that need to be used up. I’m forever adding to the collection with my Sephora and Walmart beauty boxes. I’m getting there though. I don’t have quite as big of a stash as I used to.

September Empties

Well, I did pretty pitiful this past month, but I’m hoping to turn things around in October. In September, I acquired 6 new products, which is pretty minimal of me. Some months, I can go without getting anything. Well, 6 in and let’s see how many out. Well, I guess 25 out isn’t bad at all. I thought that I did a lot worse than that. Wow. September BeautyFix

Heya Aspiring Gurus!

I recently received my BeautyFix September box a couple of weeks ago and just got around to opening it. I was going to do an unboxing, but I’m feeling under the weather this weekend. I thought I would just share what I got in this box instead. I paid 13 USD and some odd change for this box and it came with two free samples, which was very generous of Dermstore. I will be getting the October box at 25 USD and the November box. I will be cancelling after that for three months and then resubscribing. I cannot afford a 25 USD box during my maternity leave. I am excited to receive two more boxes though. I really love this subscription. Let me show you why!

Full Sized Products:

Dr. Brandt BB Cream With Signature Flexitone, 1 oz for 39 USD

This product alone makes the whole box worth it to me. I have been wanting to try this forever and I really enjoy trying out new bb creams. This one seems a bit dark on the back of my hand, but a little goes a long way. I’m hoping that if I spread it out better, thinner on my face, I will get a better color match. If it doesn’t match, then I will give this to a friend who might be a better match than me. I’m just happy to be trying this out and it is such an expensive product.

Nick Chavez Starlet Shine Spray, 3.5 oz for 19 USD

I can use a new shine spray. The one that I have is a manual spray and this one is aerosol. I’m interested to see the difference and see how this one performs compared to my drugstore one. I’m hoping that this one will be a little more subtle and easy to use. The other one made my hair look a bit greasy and I would always wash it that day, if I used it.

Deluxe Samples:

Sanitas Skincare Lemon Cream Scrub, 60 ml for 10 USD

I needed a new cleanser for in the morning, since I was running out of my samples. This will be nice to try and it is a very good size. Maybe, this will be a new favorite morning cleanser. I like that most of these brands are really expensive. It is like a monthly treat to myself. It smells like freshly squeezed lemons, so this will be nice to use in the morning.

L’Occitane Shea Butter Extra-Gentle Soap in Verbena, 1.7 oz for 1.80 USD

I love the hand lotion by this brand and the fact that it is pretty affordable is great. Also, you get a 20% off coupon good for the entire month, if you wanted to buy something from the Dermstore. I will be giving this lemon scented soap to my dad. He really loves to use soaps and I don’t use solid soap as much. I have a few from Lush that I am in the process of using and my skin is very sensitive to soaps. He likes the scent and I’ll let you know if he likes thee soap as well.

NIA 24 Sun Damage Prevention UVA/UVB Sunscreen SPF 30/PA, 1 fl oz for 19.60 USD

Another big sample that is quite expensive. I will be putting this away until I finish my current facial sunscreen. This came sealed, so I can feel good about putting it away for a a month or two. I look forward to trying this out, since I put sunscreen on my face and neck almost everyday year round. For now, it is going into storage.

Jane Iredale Just Kissed Lip and Cheek Stain in Forever Peach, ?

I already have this in forever pink, so now I have both of them. They are great for moisturized lips on the go and they smell amazing too. I will be keeping this one at work. It gives a subtle peach hue to your lips.

SkinMedica TNS Eye Repair, 2g for 13.72 USD

I have a morning eye cream, so this will be nice to use at night to prevent aging. I’m guessing that this sample would last a month for the eye area. I look forward to testing this out and seeing if my eyes are too sensitive for it. I wonder if this will help dark circles?

Skinceuticals Phloretin CF, ? 1 fl oz is 162 USD, so it is an expensive small sample

This is a Vitamin C serum that you apply in the morning before putting on moisturizer. I am glad to have another Vitamin C serum to get rid of the remaining hyperpigmentation that I have on my cheek, which is my only skin concern. Acne leaves red marks on my face and vitamin C really helps a lot. I’m glad to be adding this into my morning routine and there seems to be enough or two weeks to a month of use.

Avene Retrinal 0.1 Intensive Cream, 0.1 fl oz for 6.90 USD

The small samples are really expensive, even though you only get a small bit. I calculate my samples from the full size and do the math to determine the price. You really get what you pay for. This is an anti-aging night cream. I’m guessing it would be three full face applications, but I’m going to use it as an eye cream once I am not pregnant or nursing. The packaging tells me specially not to use it. So, this will sit around for a bit. If I’m not going to be able to use it by August 2017, I will give it away.

Raw Spirit Summer Rain Eau De Parfum, 1 ml for 5.30 USD

This is a nice citrus scent that I am sure Danielle will love. It is crisp and fresh. I still have half of my bottle of White Citrus, so I am all set when it comes to this fresh squeezed scent. I don’t want this sample to just sit around, so I will add it to her birthday bag as a little freebie. Surprise, Danielle! Speaking of you, I have a letter I never mailed! I need to mail it!

I think that this box is a great value at 13 and some odd change. Hell, even at 25 USD, everything would have been worth it. I also received these extras. I will be enjoying this subscription and will be resubing next year after my maternity leave. It is everything that I like to sample. I also really enjoy the variety. I have plenty of things to pamper my skin with now.

Medicell Labs Advanced Moisture Eye Mask Duo, 1 pair for 15 USD

I would never buy something so expensive for myself, but I will enjoy using these after my delivery. I plan on taking this with me to the hospital, along with a few sheet masks to really perk my skin up after that ordeal. I am very excited to have some fancy, luxury pamper goodies! It also has a 30% of coupon if you want to buy the set: an eye mask and a facial mist that retails for 70 USD. I will not be using this so, here it is MEDICELLEYE.

SkinMedica Total Defense + Repair SPF 34, 3.7 g for 3.70 USD

This is a small sunscreen sample that I will use after I finish my current sunscreen. It is made for the face and has antioxidants in it. I think that I would get about two uses out of this, but I will still enjoy using it. I am putting it away for now, but I will use this in a couple of months and will let you know my impression of it. I love freebies!

September Favorites

Heya Aspiring Gurus!

I don’t have a ton of favorites this month. I really loved Dean getting more powerful with his kicks and moving around. I enjoyed drinking my sugar loaded Sprite drink at the doctor’s, which came out negative by the way. I dislike that my iron levels are still very low. I might have to have a c-section, because of this. I am now taking two iron supplements a day, so 660mg of iron a day. I have so much to look forward to in October. I really enjoyed going to the mall with Danielle in September and I look forward to coming over her house in October. I will be buying the crib, mattress, and infant car seat this month. I am hoping to buy a few things for organization as well as baby wipes, cloths, and reusable diapers. I’m tired and I might be coming down with a cold. I’m going to cut it short and get to exercising. Light exercise. I’m just going to walk for 30 minutes.

Street Style: September Ipsy

Heya Aspiring Gurus!

I know that I am a month late with my glam bag, but I have decided that I am going to wait to write my review. I want to actually have something more to say than “I hope it works”. This will be sort of like first impressions after a month of use. I hope you enjoy it. Let me know. Do you like this style or do you want me to go back to my old ways?

The Theme:

I really do not understand how the theme of street style relates to any of the products that I got in my bag, not even the rock n’ roll bag goes with the theme. I really don’t. I am not a fan of this theme or this bag this month. It just wasn’t really my style and some of the products turned out to really not suit me.

The Bag:

I love the actual bag this month! I really like the square shape and the studs on it. I can really coordinate my makeup bags with my purses now. I can keep a bag with makeup goodies in each purse and only have to take my wallet out of one and put it in another. So simple when I am rushing out the door.

Nourish Organic Moisturizing Cream Face Cleanser With Cucumber & Watercress, 2.33 USD for 1 fl oz

Although this is 100% USDA certified organic, it smells like Ivory soap, not a flattering scent at all. Because of the smell, I haven’t wanted to use this cleanser. I will to tell you how I think of it though, in the long run. So far, I haven’t liked the way it feels on my skin. It is a good sized sample to try, so I will be using this on the weekends or in the shower to give my face a break from all of the acne medicine that I use during the week on it to keep my skin presentable.

Crown Brush Infinity Shadow/Crease Duet Brush, 17.50 USD for C476

This is such a soft brush and I have used it a few times without any shedding whatsoever, which is pretty amazing to get in an Ipsy bag. This helps my eye shadows be more bendable and create a flawless finish. I am still not anywhere near really good with applying makeup, but I am getting there. That is for sure.

Pacifica Natural Minerals Eyeliner in O3F4 Gunmetal, 2.75 USD for 0.26 oz

The formula is very smooth, but the color is very shimmery. It does not hold up on my waterline. Maybe it would if it were more matte? It does match the color of my eyes though and it enhances them as well. I feel like this would make a great subtle cat eye. I am still looking for the perfect waterline eyeliner though. This is a nice creamy consistency. I just wish that they would send me a sharpener already. I need one for all of my dull pencils. Lol. I always forget to buy one at the store.

Mitchell & Peach English Growers Luxury Hand Cream in Flora No. 1, 13.61 USD for 1.1 fl oz

This is a real expensive sample!!! So excited! The formula of the lotion is really nice and is fast absorbing without a sticky, greasy feel to it, just a moisturized feel if you know what I mean. The sent itself is spicy at first and I do not like it at all. One I rub it into my hands, the scent changes, getting less spicy and more floral. I like the more floral, slightly tea scented smell of the hands better than that initial spiciness. That being said, I am not really a fan of the scent either way. I really enjoy the formula though.

Cailyn Art Touch Tinted Lip Gloss in 08 Love Affair, 19 USD for 0.14 fl oz

This one is even more expensive! I feel like I just got the best deal with this bag. This is not hooker red like I first thought it would look like. It is a flattering dark berry red with blue undertones. I love the way my lips look with this on. It is not an everyday shade for work, but it is a great shade for a night out or hanging out with friends. You still need a mirror to apply this, because it is a pretty opaque gloss that you do not want to mess up. It feels very moisturizing and light on the lips. I feel very comfortable wearing it and it has quickly become a Fall staple of mine. I would consider buying another one of these in a nude color. It has a satin finish.

I would give this bag two stars, since I only really like two of the products and I do not really like the rest. Ipsy needs to wow me by New Years or I am switching to Birchbox. I don’t want to have a lot of stuff that I don’t want/use. It is different if its a flavor, so I give it to a friend than if the product preforms poorly. The value of this bag was 55.19 USD. An amazing value, but I just wish that I loved everything.
