Entertainment Monthly: February

Heya Aspiring Gurus!

I have watched a few more shows and movies to share my thoughts and opinions with all of you. I love writing this series every month. I am not going to make it a consistent thing to write two of these posts per month. It is just how things turned out last month. I keep track of the movies and tv series that I complete and once I reach five, I plan to do this post that up coming weekend. I noticed that I finished five more entertainment related shows on Monday and so today, Sunday morning, I have decided to sit down and write it. I am going to be painting my nails later today. You all can look forward to a rare Manicure Monday, even if it is just a quick 5 minute post. I tend to have Friday, Monday, and Tuesdays for my days off of blogging. I chose those days, because Fridays are for “fun nights”, Mondays I usually work later than usual (If there is overtime, I am usually at work until at least 5 if not, 5:30), and Tuesdays are a day of relaxation. Well, now that I have explained all of that, here is the meat of the post:

Switched @ Birth Season 3

Switched At Birth Promotionals 03

I love Switched @ Birth more in its current season (Season 4) than this one. It seems like they ran out of ideas with this one and it became dragged out and boring. Season 4 is much more exciting and drama filled! Season 3 was just okay and I would continue to watch it even if the series continued to be “just okay”. I am glad that they improved with Season 4 though. It would be tough to see a well-loved series go down the drain. After Angelo “leaves” though, Bay’s baby sister disappears as well. I thought Bay was like so happy to have a baby sister around. Now, she doesn’t even seem to remember that she does have another sister besides Daphne. I watched most of the season on regular cable tv, but I had to watch the last few episodes on Netflix since I lost cable for a bit.

Into The Storm

I really enjoyed this movie a lot! I rented this movie from Redbox and I had been waiting FOREVER to watch it. I knew that it was going to be good because of the great trailer that went with this movie. I was on the edge of my seat the whole entire time. I was so into the movie. I got absorbed into the action and invested into the characters, even the Red Necks. It has been awhile since I have been that into a movie before. I am usually a a tough critic, but this movie took the cake for me. Now, saying all of that, I still did not give it five stars, because  some characters/situations made this movie a bit unbelievable for me and that took away some of the enjoyment. Overall, this is a great action movie that I would recommend.

Sex Tape

I thought that this movie was really funny and a bit crude but not as crude as other comedies that I have watched before. Compared to a bunch of popular comedies, this one is like the least crude out there for adults. I loved seeing Cameron Diaz in comedies instead of her usual romcom, but I have to say that this is a very tame comedy. I can see a lot of people enjoying this movie for a fun night in. I don’t really have much to say about it, besides the fact that I enjoyed it and would recommend it to fans of Diaz.

This Is Where I Leave You

This Is Where I Leave You

This movie had so much potential! It has a great cast of characters and the plot sounded interesting enough, except nothing actually really happens. If you like movies, where the characters just sit around and talk about their lives with little action (actually doing stuff) than you will like this movie more than I did. I like movies that take me on a journey of self discovery. I don’t really like movies like this. They are just not that enjoyable to me. Now, I won’t say that this is the worst movie. It did keep me mildly entertained, but I was painting my nails when I was watching this movie. It was nice to listen to, but I didn’t FEEL like I had to watch it to know what was going on.

If I Stay

If I Stay

This was a really average movie for me. I really loved the book and I enjoyed the adaptation of the book into a movie. I really feel though that they cast the male lead wrong. I was expecting someone with a cool boy persona maybe some tattoos and riding a motorcycle, who falls in love with the female lead and that makes him soften. He seemed more like a jerk than a cool person. In the book, I adored him, but in the movie, I thought much less of him. Maybe the sequel will redeem his character. I hope that they cast different actors for the sequel though. I don’t think Chloe really “fit” the character right.
