Consignment Shopping!

Heya Aspiring Gurus!

I went shopping for maternity clothes last week and found a few great pieces to add to my wardrobe. Some of the clothes will still work after pregnancy as well, so that’s a plus. The first store I went to was the Salvation Army and it wasn’t what I was expecting. It was HUGE and had such a large variety of everything. I was simply amazed and the prices couldn’t be beat either. It smelled dirty and like cigarettes though. I felt bad for the homeless people hanging out in there. I will be going back next week for more clothes for my dad. He got two pairs of jeans and one was from J Crew. It was 138 USD full price and he got it for 5 dollars. You cannot beat it, when you have a hard time affording quality clothes. I wish I would have gone sooner. The polka dot top comes with a built in tang top. I bought all of the items for 29 dollars, including my dad’s two pairs of jeans.

The last store I went to was called The Victorian Rose. It is a vintage consignment shop and the old ladies who run the place were very helpful. I got a lot of great finds for a great affordable price. The prices were just as low as the Salvation Army, which I wasn’t expecting, especially since I found two designer finds. I got a lighter wash version of the really dark jeans that I bought at the Salvation Army, but they are in the wash so no picture on that pair. Instead of the black tummy piece it has a tan tummy piece with the light jean wash. The pastel banana yellow blazer is by Anne Klein and the dress is a BCBG dress by Max Azria. The black top from Tokyo comes with a built in camisole. I bought everything for 17 USD.

I absolutely love everything that I got and will now be comfortable in my pants. I can make so many outfits with all of these clothes, while being in comfort. Some of my own clothes still work, so the possibilities are endless. Do you shop consignment?

My Life, The Retail Diaries

The Retail Diaries: Orientation

Heya Aspiring Gurus!

I was super busy yesterday packing up a few of my things after orientation as well as having lunch with my boyfriend, picking up my younger brother from school, and making dinner. In there somewhere, I also caught up on all of my Youtube videos and watched Keeping Up With The Kardashions which is my new guilty pleasure show to watch when I want to forget about my own family drama. More about that in my Entertainment Weekly post. Any who, I had my orientation yesterday. I got up an hour and a half early and had my coffee. I also checked my email on my kindle fire as I washed my face for the day. I got dressed, had cereal for breakfast, and put on my makeup. If anyone wants me to do the FOTD posts, I will do one a week, only if it is requested though. I arrived at 8 o’clock only to be told that it starts at 8:30, so I waited for an hour and twenty minutes in the employee lounge. Yes, it was terrible and I texted my best friend while waiting, only to discover that the guy I was to do orientation with had arrived early and needed help with his application. I also got paid for the three hours that I was there, which is an added bonus. Once I was called into the office, we both watched the 4 videos that we had to load into the dvr and watch. There was one video on sexual harassment and discrimination and business conduct with activity questions on the dvd, one on how to set up the store for those that have disabilities and how to help them with activity questions on the dvd, another one on the core values of the store, and the last one was on the importance on connecting with the customers with the store motto WANT: Welcome/Assist/’N/Thank. After the videos, we had to fill out some paperwork and were told what the dress code is for the store: navy blue collared shirts with black pants and black shoes. I have a 15 hour week schedule up ahead and I was told that I would be filling out more paperwork and would b doing online learning in the office. I am so happy that I get paid for this! So, for the three days that I work it is a 5 hour work day. I will be working Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 1 to 5pm and I don’t have to be in dress code. I am super excited!! Due to the late time, the retail posts might not be up until the weekend. I will try to squeeze them into the mornings though. So, I have 4 posts planned for next week, but there is a possibility for more, especially if you guys leave requests!! Until the next post.

First Impression: Especially Escada Delicate Notes

Heya Aspiring Gurus!

I am cleaning up my categories with my guru blogger friend Jen. I am taking a page from her blogging book and broading my categories to make my posts easier to search for. I am also making my tites of my posts more earch friendly, but every post will include the unique title that I would have given it anyways. I want my blog to be successful and I will always have three posts up every week. I may be able to do more, but my life is very busy, so I might not have time for more. On those days that I cannot really write a good detailed post. I will do a quick post or a little DIY tip that I have collected over the years. This way, I still post everyday, so you don’t miss me, but I will only do detailed ones three times a week at least. So, join me tomorrow on my new blogging week.

Definitely Ununique

Especially Escada Delicate Notes

This perfume smells really nice and light, but it strangely smelled like another perfume I owned. This perfume costs 46 US DOLLARS an ounce and originates from the Czech Republic. The smell of this perfume is heavenly, but it smells very similar on my skin to Harajuku Lovers Love perfume. Although delicate notes has a sweeter floral scent and the Lovers holds a sweet musk, the scents are similar enough to be mistaken for each other or as the almost same scent. I do think that the Delicate notes is more bang for your buck, so when I run out of Lovers, Iwill be purchasing Delicate Notes. I cannot really judge the perfume by a little sample in the mail that is only a once use deal, but I really like the scent. It is definitely a sweeter side of me for daytime use.

Has anyone else tried this or another perfume by this brand? What perfume are you loving for August? Leave a comment below or a request.

Beauty, First Impressions, Haul, My Life, SALE

Midnight Velvet Haul

Heya Aspiring Gurus!

I ordered a haul from Midnight Velvet for my birthday! My father got a line of credit and he said that I could get some things for my twenty-first birthday. I never got any gifts for my birthday, besides from my besties. So, I was super excited to have some money to spend! What I got was really expensive, but keep in mind that it was my twenty-first and also, my dad will only have to pay a minimum of 25 dollars a month. I also told him that I would pay for half, so technically. It was not that expensive, but it is my most expensive haul in one place. Without further chitchat, here is the breakdown of what I received last Friday and Saturday. Yes, they came in two different boxes. No clue why they couldn’t have sent it all in a bigger box.

Box:

Zebra box

Isn’t this box cute?! It is zebra striped! I love that this company made their delivery boxes so personal and customized. However, the other box I received was in plain brown packaging. It was a bit of a disappointment, but at least, I got one pretty box to pack my stuff in when I move. I should be moving before December, but the job I interviewed for is still looking at references and wants to do a second interview. It is between me and some other person. I hope I get it!

Box opened

Everything was wrapped up so neatly inside of the box. I feel like this company really cares about the quality and integrity of their products, even if most of their products are not produced or made specifically by them.

The Dress:

Mai Tai Floral DressClose up

Mai Tai Floral Dress
89.99 US DOLLARS [SALE ITEM]
Size Small

I feel like I will be wearing this dress, even through the fall. The colors are so bright and summery! I added a close up, so you can see more detail. The dress is even more gorgeous in real life. The colors really pop! This is a Missy’s small, btw, not a women’s small. I know there is a big difference. I am almost 5’4″, if not 5’4″ and this dress skims the tops of my knees. This is a very appropriate daytime length and the material is very silky. It has a slip, but it has a cowl neckline. Going out for a date wouldn’t be a problem to show some cleavage, but for day time use, I am definitely putting something like a cami or tangtop or some type of shirt underneath this. I feel like this is a jersey dress and could be very wearable taking care of kids in. It flatters my hourglass figure perfect, but beware! If you have a stomach, this will show it off in a bad way, not something you want to wear during your period. I have already worn this dress once and am already in love with it. It’s the perfect dress to go into fall with. Plus, it will look great with my Mai Tai nail polish!

The Lotion:

Body LotionActual size body lotion

7 Gingerbread Men Lotion
8.99 [SALE ITEM]
4 fl oz each [total of 28 fl oz]

I could not help, but pick these little guys up. They are super cute and come in a variety of holiday inspired scents. I was going to possibly separate them and give as gifts, but I am a greedy person. Once I smelt them all, I had to keep them for myself. LOL. The scents they come in are Vanilla Sugar, which smells exactly like sugar cookies; Butterscotch, which smells like true butterscotch extract made for baking; Wild Berry, which smells sweet and fruity; Mocha, which smells like artificial chocolate [this is my least favorite one]; Black Cherry, which smells sweet but a bit like medicine black cherry flavored; Chocolate Mint, which smells like mint with a bit of artificial chocolate; and Cranberry, which is true to life, it is sweet but a bit spicy as well. They are colored body lotions, so Cranberry is pink, Chocolate Mint is green, Black Cherry is a darker pink more on the red spectrum, Wild Berry is purple, Mocha is a very light beige, butterscotch is a more yellow beige, and Vanilla Sugar is white. I am keeping the packaging to put Christmas gifts in. It will be so cute for a certain someone in mind.

The Perfume Set:

Be Delicious Blossom SetBody LotionPerfume spray

DKNY Fresh Blossom Be Delicious Perfume 2 Piece Set
34.95 US DOLLARS
Spray Perfume: 0.5 fl oz
Body Lotion: 1.7 fl oz

I love this duo! I always wanted the Be Delicious green perfume, but the store only had the fresh blossom, so I settled. I am not disappointed. I am a girl with a girly/punk/glam vibe and fashion sense, so I tend to have citrus, fruity, sultry, musky scents on my perfume shelf. This is the only floral I own and it is a nice floral. Most floral, I find are too girly and pretty smelling if you know what I mean. I don’t want to smell EXACTLY like a rose. The spray perfume on its own lasts for 6 hours, but layered with the lotion, it lasts into the night. The lotion smells fresh, floral with a hint of a fruity, fresh apple smell. It is a heavenly scent that is light, but till packs a punch. One spray of the perfume is all you need, whether its layered with lotion or not. It’s strongly potent, but not overpowering. It smells similar to the lotion with one notable difference: it has more of a sultry, musky scent, which I find preferable in my floral. It is perfect for those girls that love a little edge to their life.

The Bra:

Lacy Bra

Lace Bra in Deep Sea
34.95 US DOLLARS [SALE ITEM]
34 C

This is such a pretty bra, but very practical as well. The cups are not filled in with material to push the girls up, which I hate. My girls need ROOM. I like fuller coverage bra, but this still gives pretty cleavage, instead of half of your girls. It’s more like a fifth or quarter. The lace pattern is very eye-catching and the color is more of a bright teal than how it appears in the photo. There is boning on the sides, underneath, and in the middle. It is made with very sturdy underwire. It makes my girls feel supported and looks like it. It is a very comfortable bra and less expensive than Victoria Secrets with the coverage that I want. For bigger cup size girls, this is the perfect bra….at least for me.

The Underwear:

Panties

Boy Leg Panty in Deep Sea
12.95 US DOLLARS [SALE ITEM]
Medium

The size of these underwear definitely run a size smaller. I wish I got the large size. I have to slowly pull these on over my thighs, where they are a bit snug going on and coming off. I cannot help it that I have beautiful shaped, muscular thighs that are not stick thin. Curvy is the new sexy. Get over it people. Besides that, these fit wonderfully and are definitely a cheeky cut if you know what I mean. These are see through, so it is more of a night-time underwear for dresses or lingerie. Again, I love the color. It makes me look tan or darker skin colored. I don’t know how some colors can do that, but they can.

That is the end of my haul. Have you bought anything similar from another store? Have you ever ordered from Midnight Velvet? Leave a comment or a request below.

With Love,

Hannahxoxoxo

Mini Haul, Challenge, & Sample!

Heya Fellow Gurus!

I recently went out and bought a few basics at the store. Nothing too big or really exciting, but I still thought that I’d share what I purchased with all of you. So, here it goes.

Haul

Shadow couldn’t help, but be in the picture. She was more excited to see the new stuff than even I was!

Candy

These candies are the best! I only buy them when they are on sale and during that time of the month. They are purely delicious and lifesavers! Oh! I want that candy now, too! Anyways, these usually last me around two to three months. I don’t eat tem often or eat a lot at a time. I don’t really hae a sweet tooth and a couple of these satisfies my cravings for something sweet. The bag was 2.99 US DOLLARS.

hand towels

These hand towels from Kleenex cost as much as the candy I bought, which I thought was a good deal, because it is only a dollar more than the tissues. It comes with 60 “towels”. I have tried them for two days already and they are very absorbent and strong. I use them to dry my face off after cleansing. I am doing a 30 day <b>CHALLENGE</b> with these “towels”, if my face appears clearer and healthier after thirty days, these will be repurchased. I am trying to see if using an actual towel to dry your face spreads germs and can spread acne causing bacteria on your face. I am not changing any product in my routine that would affect my acne. We will see if that myth is true or false. If it is true, than my face will be clearer and less acne prone. If it is false, then my face will look the same as ever with no difference. After two days, I am not seeing any improvement, but only time will tell.

Exif_JPEG_422

As women, we have all been there and have purchased these types of things. I love U for its bright pretty packaging. Everyone just thinks that they are kleenex packages, if they have never seen this brand before. I’m not embarrassed to whip this out of my purse to give to a friend in need or if it falls on the floor. (I frequently drop things.) My boyfriend is also not terrified of these when he has to pick some up for me. 😉 This package was 7.99 for 32, which is a really good deal and it should last me awhile. I am very satisfied with his purchase. Don’t mind my cat as the big black blob in the corner.

Shadow 3

She’s a show off and would not stop bothering me, until I took a picture of her.

Sample of G

My sample came in from target!!!!

Coupon

While it wasn’t the sample that I sent out for (it was for an eye cream), I still love that I can get the product that I want with the coupon for 2 US DOLLARS off any moisturizer. The same that I got is for wrinkles. I do have a baby fine line on my forehead. I will be using this for my forehead and will let you guys know the results. Since I am only doing a small area of my face, this sample should last me one to two weeks of use. You will know in the near future what I think. If this is supposed to help major wrinkles, it should improve my baby fine line.

Well, this is it for now, I’ll be blogging tomorrow! Please comment and request to see something specific on my blog. I’m always looking for new things to write about.

Tone What?

The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Toner
12 US DOLLARS
8.4 fl oz

Toner

3 out of 5 stars

FTC Disclaimer: All opinions are my own and I purchased this with my own money.

1. Usage: I shake up this toner really well, so that the corn starch on the bottom will mix up with the rest of the toner. I saturate a cotton pad/ball and lightly drag it across my entire face. I pat the pad/ball on spots that need extra skin clearing power, mainly over spots and blackheads. I found it very inconvenient to always have to vigorously shake up the bottle every im I wanted to use it. I’d rather have less hassle with my beauty products, but if it gave me results, I was willing to give it a shot. I used this toner everyday twice a day, until I used it all up. I gave it a fair chance. It has lasted me almost five months of use, so you definitely get your money’s worth out of this product. 4 out of 5 stars

2. Packaging: The packaging is very simple with a clear plastic bottle, nothing fancy about it. I rather like simple packaging, because you spend money for the product, not the package it comes in. I like that I can recycle this, but there is no recycling program in my town. Many grocery stores have recycling bins though, so I save my stuff and toss it in there. I never knew about this before, but then, I saw one the other day at Wal-Mart. Now, I just keep my things in plastic bags: one for plastic, metal, and glass. Usually, the bin just says recyclable and I just throw the lot in. Some are specific stating only plastic, though. 5 out of 5 stars

3. Scent: This product has a strong earthy, herbal scent. I have been told that tea tree is not supposed to have a scent and that it does have a scent. This isn’t pure tea tree oil, so I cannot state if that is true or not. This product does have a strong scent, but it quickly dissipates into nothing, plus the scent of my lotion and spf would cover it up anyway. This isn’t the best scent in the world, but it doesn’t bother me. You get used to the scent. 3 out of 5 stars

4. Performance: I would not say that this is a miracle product for me by any means and I’m not going to say that it helped my acne either. It performed like a normal toner by clearing the surface of my skin of any extra dirt or cleanser after cleansing. It has a nice tingle sensation that tells you that it is doing “something” to my skin. I expected more from this product, but at least it performed like an average toner in the regards that it cleared the surface of the skin. 2 out of 5 stars

5. Ingredients: This contains alcohol, which is drying for the skin and is something I want to stay away from. My current toner doesn’t contain alcohol. I will be doing a skin care post soon, possibly tomorrow. This also contains castor oil and I am avoiding oil, because it’s not good for only skin and I’ve heard that using oils on your face ages you faster. I’m in my twenties. I want to stay that way for a while. It also contains caramel, which is linked to cancer. I have stopped drinking soda with this additive in it like Coke and Pepsi because of it. Any brown soda has been eliminated from my diet, even though I loved my once a week Coke. It’s now a once a week Mountain Dew or Arizona Tea. Anyways, cancer is bad. I do not want anything linked to cancer on my skin or in my body. Dyes are bad, I know, but in this toner, it is the lesser of all evils. This summer I have become ingredient conscious, but I don’t want to waste money and throw out all of my old stuff. So, I am using it all up and when I buy new ones, I am ingredient conscious and try to make the right decisions for me. I took 30 minutes in the store selecting the right spf. It’s why I choose to research products first before I buy them. I take less time in the store that way. 1 out of 5 stars

6. Results: The reason why this product didn’t work for me is most likely due to all the bad ingredients mixed with a few good ones. It was the wrong combination for my skin. It didn’t do anything for my acne, but it also didn’t make my face physically different as far as I know. My skin had the same amount of acne and nothing changed. At east, it didn’t harm my skin that I know of. I have since gotten my acne under control, but this product didn’t do anything for me. 1 out of 5 stars

Overall, I give this product 2.6 stars out of 5. I cannot recommend this to anyone, because I feel uncomfortable doing so knowing the ingredients. If ingredients do not bother you, I still wouldn’t recommend, because it did nothing for me. You are better off looking for something else. This product was a major miss for me at The Body Shop.

Mini Haul-Giveaways Recieved

Heya Fellow Gurus!

I entered into a few contests, since I started to blog more regularly in June. I’m happy to note that I have won four contests! So, this is my giveaway haul of all the things that I won from the ah-mazing Jen (http://shadowdancer.wordpress.com) here on wordpress. She has subscribed to countless subscription boxes, beauty or otherwise. So, be sure to check out her site to see what she thinks about each one. I know she is cutting her least favorites out. Now, I know which ones I should give a try and ones that I am glad I won’t be wasting money on. I am going to head right into the giveaway haul now, but I also did purchase something this week that I will be adding at the end.

giveaway haul

The package was neatly packaged and nothing got damaged during shipment. The whole thing smelled like perfume. *sigh* Lovely. It was a very pleasing smell. The big bag only had perfume in it, but I put everything else in there too for safe keeping until I put everything away. It got here surprisingly quick, which was a pleasant surprise to me. It made my day.

Satin bagged perfumePerfume samples

The perfume was in cute little satin bags and had 6 samples in each one. They were repeat samples, though. I always wanted to try the Oscar de la Renta perfume and now, I can. It is the Essential Luxuries line and I am excited to try them all!!!

Origins samples

I’ve always wanted to try something from Origins and now I can. I am an SPF addict and this will definitely be used up soon.

Philosophy

I love, love, love Philosophy! I am excited to try this scent. I heard that it smells true to life like cinnamon buns. I hope that’s true, because I love that smell. I have a vanilla cake flavor of the shower gel as well and it works great as a bubble bath.

Blushes Ferropink blush
bronzey blushblush swatches

These blushes are super pigmented and long wearing! I am wearing it now and it looks great on my skin tone. The pink one is called Suzie’s Glow and the bronzy one is Terra Cotta. I will use the bronze one more as a bronzer than a blush, since it is quite dark on my fair yellow undertone skin. The pink is on the left and the bronze on the right. Both are very flattering on my skin.

spf lotion

I purchased this at Ocean State Job Lot for 5 US DOLLARS. I needed an spf for my sensitive face and this one is supposed to be the best according to Danielle (http://daniellec1992.wordpress.com) for that type of issue.

Well, that’s it for today! Hope you enjoyed it!

Triple The Moisture

Bath & Body Works Twilight Woods Triple Moisture Body Cream
12.50 US DOLLARS
8 oz

Exif_JPEG_422

4 out of 5 stars

FTC Disclaimer: All opinions are my own and I purchased this product with my own money.

1. Usage: This tube of lotion lasted me quite a while. I didn’t use it regurally, but it lasted me 3 months of using it at least twice a week. I cut the end of the tube off once no more product was coming out nd it had a week’s worth of lotion still left in it. The lotion that was left in it was thicker like body butter and very moisturizing. 5 out of 5 stars

2. Packaging: I love the holographic aspect of the tube and how the design reflects its name. It is dark brown and reddish brown in coloring and although it isn’t a really alluring design nor color, the scent spoke to me. I fell in love with the entire scent collection. The packaging could be better, so I woul;dn’t have to majorly cut up the tube to get the last bit out. 3 out of 5 stars

3. Scent: The element that captured it all. Twilight Woods is a warm musk that smells less woodsy and more like the air in a cottage home with the fireplace going. It is a light fragernce with a hint of spcy cinomin. This is definitely a femine scent, not a mascline one, but I suppose this scent could be unsex, if you like warmer scents on your man. I enjoy this scent so much that I bought the roll-on perfume. 5 out of 5 stars

4. Performance: I feel that this moisturizer is better for dry skin and would be a better lotion for the winter. However, I went through a pretty severe skin irratation in June, so I really loved how soothing and moisturizing this was and it dried with a satin finish. My legs felt crazy soft even when they were flaking like crazy. The lotion keeps skin soft and hydrated. I have oily skin, so I don’t use it every tie I showever. I tret my skin two times a week or whenever it is irritated from allergies or other products. I love that this is non-irritating. It is the only lotion I own that I can use on broken skin and it helps rather than making it worse. 5 out of 5 stars

5. Ingredients: The only ingredient I do not like in this is Linalool, since it is some animal by-product. Other than that, this stuff has great things in it. No parabens or mineral oil. This makes me happy, because I can repurchase it in the future. Once I runout of moisurizers, this will be on my repurchase list. 4 out of 5 stars

6. Results: The lotion is a nice thick, creamy consistency and it really helped improve my skin. My skin is pretty soft to begin with, but this just made it better. I think that it is worth the price for how much you get and how long it lasts. 4 ou of 5 stars

Overall, I give it 4.3 stars out of 5. I will be repurchasing, when I go to B&BW to restock.

Beauty, Haul, My Life

Mini KMart Haul

On Sunday, I went to KMart to pick up a few things that I needed, because I was either running out or did not have any at all.

Disclaimer: I bought everything mentioned with my own money.

Neutrogena oil-free eye makeup remover
6.99 US DOLLARS
5.5 fl oz

This is actually my first makeup remover purchase. I always used to double cleanse to get my makeup off, but this is a more efficient way and I have already used it twice since purchasing. I use this on my entire face using up two cotton pads. I found this to be a bit oily, but nourishing. I have oily skin, so I did rinse it off and cleansed after this. I would have cleansed anyway, so it wasn’t a big deal.

Conair deluxe shower cap satin
6.99 US DOLLARS

I have yet to use the shower cap, so I cannot review the item yet. It seems very durable and the waterproof lining reminds me of a pool. Hopefully, it works and is quality made.

IMAGE essentials cotton balls triple size
2.49 US DOLLARS
200 cotton balls

I have yet to use these. I still have 10 cotton pads left. I wanted to switch to balls, because there is 80 more of them for 10 cents less and I wanted to see if they were worth it. Plus, the cotton pads I have by the same brand are kind of scratchy.

CUTEX 100% PURE ACETONE PROFESSIONAL STRENGTH
3.99 US DOLLARS
16 fl oz

Like with the cotton balls, I have not tried this product out yet, but I am also totally new to this brand as well. I have a nail polish remover jar with sponge, so I will be cleaning that out today and using this stuff in there. I am excited about using this today and painting my nails a fun shade!

PURINA TIDY CATS NON-CLUMPING FOR MULTIPLE CATS 24/7 Performance
9.99 US DOLLARS
40 LBS

I ran out of kitty litter, so I had to go out and buy some. I chose this formula, because it had the most bang for my buck. I am glad I bought it. I have yet to smell my cat’s litter box and yes, I only have one cat. My cat seems to enjoy this litter as well. She enjoys it better than the all natural pine litter that she had before, plus this one works a lot better, too. I will do a full
review when I finish the bag.

PURINA Friskies FLAKED With Tuna
59¢ US CENTS
5.5 oz

I wanted my cat to try wet food again after about two years of only eating dry. She has a sensitive stomach and will only eat fish flavored products. She gets 5 meals out of this can, which is amazing for the price. That’s like 12¢ a meal. She loves this wet food and only has one meal of wet a day. I will be buying more. She has not puked from this food at all. I will be writing a full review in a few days.

Well, that is it for this haul. I hope you all enjoyed it. Feel free to comment and request anything you like.

With Love
