May Empties

I have a whole lot of empties this month that my basket was overflowing. I had to photograph everything and start this post in mid-May. That is how many empties I have this month. I actually even cut May a few days short. I’m writing this on May 28th, because the basket filled up good again. It’s close enough to the end of May and it will just give a little bit of a boost to June. Although, I don’t have anything really close to being empty yet, which is why I just decided to do my count today.

I think 51 empties is enough for one month. I’m happy ending it here early. This was such a heavy month. I look forward to seeing what I can accomplish next month. You’ll be seeing plenty of reviews for the next few months to come. I’m behind in my product reviews. I have so many prewritten on paper for my blog. I probably have 50 reviews right now, waiting to be featured. I continue to write them throughout the month as well on paper. I tend to review around 40 items a month on paper, but there is not that many days in a month. Naturally, I got behind. I hope you don’t mind seeing reviews 5 days a week and my more unique posts on the weekends/holidays.

6 Before Summer Update #1

I am happy to report that I finished 1 of the original six and I finished the replacement that I added in as well. So far, I have finished two products out of the project. I am 1/3 done with my project. I just have to finish four more or reach the end date to call it quits. I finished off two face masks in my project. I replaced them with a sheet mask that I haven’t used yet. I find it hard to use up a sheet mask, but I have many and I need to use them up. I cannot wait to show you my progress!

I finished off the Lush Cup O’ Coffee scrub and The Body Shop Tea Tree Face mask. I have replaced them with the Tony Moley I’m Real Red Wine Sheet Mask. I’m hoping to use this up this weekend at some point and if I do, I’m going to replace it with another sheet mask. After that, I’ll probably throw in my Proactive sulfur mask. I’m happy to be moving through my masks, since I got three new ones for my birthday!

I have so much progress with my Wen Sweet Almond Mint Volumizing Treatment Spray. I just use it like hair spray. It doesn’t do much for my hair and I don’t care for the crunchy, flaky mess the day after I use this. I’ll be happy when I finish this up for sure. Then I can move onto my mouse from either Tresseme or Big Sexy Hair.

I didn’t use it for the first two weeks, because I forgot to. I’ve been using it everyday since. The progress is slow going as a deodorant. This powder fluffs up a lot when you use it. I really had to work to settle the product for a good measuring picture. I like to use a couple of shakefulls underneath my arm pits before I go in with an aluminum deodorant. I use this on its own when I’m at home, but if I’m going to work or out, I layer them up. I’m trying to use this up, because I didn’t like it in my hair. I think it does a better job as a deodorant. I also use this on my sweaty feet to dry them up and I’m enjoying it for that way as well. Maybe, I can get through it faster this summer.

I think we are all surprised about this progress and I wanted to show the “window” to prove it. This is 4 grams of eye shadow that I only use on the weekends, but I am moving pretty fast through this. I’m thinking creams are just easier to use up than powders. I’m about half way through this tube. Not sure I can really use up all of it by then end of this project, but I think I’ll have most of it used up by then. I’m not into metallic purple, so I put a layer of nude powder eye shadow on top of this and it softens the look. I’ve been enjoying using this and making it into a more neutral eye look.

The right is my progress. I’m a little less than half way through the perfume. I am moving to an easier way to view how much I have left in the container, because I think it’s easier to see. I used this perfume every single day and I love it a lot. I’ll be sad when it’s done, but I want the original Be Delicious perfume. This is a great Spring scent that I will be putting away for next year if I don’t finish it before the finale.

As you can see, I have worn down the dome shape to the product. This is almost 6 grams of blush, so I don’t think I’ll be finishing it. I enjoy using it during the work week for a nice glow, but it isn’t my favorite. It tends to be blotchy and not easy to blend out evenly no matter what I use whether a brush or sponge. I’ll be happy when it’s gone and I won’t be repurchasing. I like the color enough to use it, but the formula is splotchy.

That’s it for my update. Hopefully, I’ll be able to use up four more products to call this project a success. I have high hopes for this one!

Body Gloves

For The Body Shop Hemp Gloves

What it is:

Exfoliating gloves.

Key Ingredients:

Hemp….

How it looks/feels:

It looks like a pair of green gloves and it feels rough on the skin.

Why I didn’t like it:

These were too abrasive on my sensitive skin. I would rather use a physical exfoliant than use these gloves dry or wet. I want to get into dry scrubbing/rubbing, but I need to find something that is going to be less rough on my sensitive skin. If you like it rough, then you will loves these gloves for 5 USD. I bought a pair at Walmart that I am hoping will be more gentle.

Empties: The March Edit

Heya Aspiring Gurus!

It is that time again when I say goodbye to the old and welcome in the new. Coming up this month, I have renewed my Birchbox subscription. It is so inexpensive and I missed getting new bits every month. They are easy to use up and I enjoy trying new things. Plus, my new thing is not buying something until I use all of what I have up. So, no more lotion until I use up all of mine. It helps with decluttering and I hope to have even more empties next month.

To Blot Or Not To Blot?

For The Body Shop Mineral Powder Blotting Tissues

What it is: Blotting tissues that soak up shine and excess oil while the fine mineral powder leaves a soft matte finish.

Key Ingredients: mica, titanium dioxide

How it feels/smells/looks: They do not have a scent to them at all. They are papery sheets with a light dusting of powder.

Why I like it: These worked really well at absorbing oil, but I feel like it made my skin a bit dry. I have to use 2-3 sheets every time. I have bought the blue Clearasil ones before and only had to use 1-2 sheets for my whole face. I feel that Clearasil does a better job, even though it is 2-3 USD more and does not contain powder. I think these blotting tissues are aimed at people who have light oil. I need to pick up a pack, because these are really essential for oily skin girls like myself. I will not be repurchasing these. I like the ones at the drugstore better. What is your favorite brand of blotting tissues? Have you tried these?

A Boost To Your Step

For The Body Shop Vitamin C Skin Boost

What it is: A skin boost/primer with instant smoothing radiance for dull skin.

Key Ingredients: Mica, parfum, glycerin, linalool, limonene, silica, vitamin C, brazil nut oil.

How it feels/smells/looks: It smells like straight up Vitamin C, a citrus smell that is sweeter than oranges. It smells really good and I’m a sucker for anything citrus scented. It is a yellow gel with shimmer in it. It is very mattifying and the shimmer is very subtle. It glides on smoothly with a velvet finish. I used less BB cream or foundation, since this made my base easier to smooth out and blend on the skin using less.

Why I like it: I like that this has a pump for mess free applications and it does a great ob of moisturizing the skin as well as filling in the pores and smoothing out the skin. I find that my BB cream or foundation blends into my skin better and seemed to enhance the look of my skin. I would not repurchase this though. This retails for 20 USD, but I got it in a kit for 20 USD (so it was like getting the other two products in it for free). I would rather spend that kind of money on Pores No More than this product, unless found in a kit again.

The Final Verdict: The Body Shop

For The Body Shop Honey Bronzing Powder in Fair Matte 02

What it is: A compact with finely milled matte bronzer made with honey, includes a handy mirror for on the go application/touch-ups.

Key Ingredients: Besides the honey and beeswax, there is only one other notable ingredients: shea butter. Interesting.

How it feels/smells/looks: I was a little disappointed that it does not smell like honey, but the powder is pressed into a honey comb design. The compact is sleek, but the paint job on the top totally flecked off with use, which was really annoying. The powder is very smooth to the touch. The powder is a light tan.

Why I like it: This gives me the most natural looking glow and mattifies my face perfectly. This added warmth to my face, neither orange nor brown coloring. I would repurchase, but I want to try other bronzers out there.

Wow! Another month has come and gone once again. I have used up a few things, but I expect to be using up more things in November, since I am starting a new series on my blog. More details on that are soon to come. I cannot believe that I have already been at my new job for a month! It is so exciting. Empties: The August Edit

Heya Aspiring Gurus!

I went through a few empties this month, which I was very proud of. It seems like September will be better though, because I already have two empties and it is only September third! It is a promising start to a new month, a new job, and a new me! My job will be changing on September 15th, which I am really excited about! I cannot wait to start and for that biweekly paycheck to start rolling in. I am also making a personal change for a new me. I am going to be eating healthier and having an exercise plan. I am going to be starting a food diaries series on my blog in pictures and an exercise plan highlighted for the month. I am starting the exercise plan already for the new month and I will be uploading it. The food Diaries, I will be starting the upcoming week and do a week in pictures for it. Let me know what you guys think of these ideas that I have on expanding my blog. Are you interested? I just feel that with a new job, It is time to start a new me. A me that I have wanted to be for a long time. A thinner, more athletic, healthier me that I used to be in high school. I am also starting to go back to teaching figure skating and taking lessons from my coach again. I have already decided on no more competitions, but that doesn’t mean that I cannot stop learning new tricks and being active. Now, onto what you came here for: my empties!
