Walmart Haul Using The Grocery App

Okay, so this was so easy to use and I will continue to buy my items from Walmart this way for as long as I can. They don’t have everything in the store available for purchase to bring out to your car, but it is close enough to wear having to actually go inside should be rare. I bought snacks, baking/cooking ingredients, and a ton of household stuff. The app was super easy to use to order, then I just let them know that I’m on my way, and pick up my order. Easy peasy. I actually had Martin pick it up for me. I 100% recommend this app if you hate going into the store to shop. I have used this app multiple times and I am still in love with it. Unless I need something that isn’t on the app (like grip socks for Dean), I don’t go in the store anymore. It is really great for budgeting and staying within how much you want to spend that week. I always have my shopping list on my phone, when I am doing my groceries on the computer. I will make a set amount that I want to spend on household things and then up to how much I want to spend on groceries.

I have been slowly stocking up our pantry with spices, baking supplies, and things you don’t use very often but is nice to have on hand. It’ll be a few months, I think before our pantry is a pretty good size with many options to make different kinds of foods. Also, Dean is going to be going to daycare and I’m on the wait list for discounted child care for 8 to 10 months. So, I am looking at $100 or less a week for 2 full days of childcare for Dean. That will also slow down our pantry shopping as well. I am also building a reserve for backup money (School loan money (extra) and my company’s reimbursement for classes), so if Dean’s daycare becomes a financial strain some weeks, there is still a reserve of money to buy groceries. Since, we are looking at a maximum of $400-500 a month on childcare.

I don’t use the app to order the groceries. I just use the app to “check in” that I am on my way to pick up the order, which Martin usually does on his way home every Sunday. I highly recommend trying this app out or even logging into the computer to make an order (like I usually do). Like I said, I stay within budget now and get everything that I want every week without breaking the bank. Do some things have to be prioritized? Yes, but this makes that way easier than getting to the checkout line and seeing how far over your budget you went… I love that I don’t do that anymore.

Dean’s ABA Week

I can officially say that switching over to a website for these notes are much easier and more convenient for me. I feel like I am getting more information on how Dean is doing and what goes on and gets discussed during sessions when I cannot be there. I feel like his weekly recap posts are now very long, so I will keep the intros and outros shorter from now on. I am really proud of Dean and everything that he is accomplishing. I have bought Dean’s first Christmas gift. I am going to take a picture of it before I wrap it up and hide it under my bed. This is the time of year that I start buying one thing from Walmart on my weekly trips. Walmart should just sponsor me by now.

As I am writing this, I am freezing. It is cold in my house at 65 degrees F. It feels like Fall already. I have my comforter wrapped around me and I am about to get up to brew my second cup of coffee today. I have to get started on my homework and I think that I have procrastinated by writing this post long enough. I don’t know what is up next for my blog, but next year, I want to do more lifestyle posts. I am purchasing a camera soon, so I can share my recipes. I’ve been cooking a lot of homemade food and desserts. Besides doing a yearly makeup inventory/declutter and a yearly project pan, I am really just over the whole beauty scene. Anyone else just tired of it and want to do more?

5 In: Walmart & Marshall’s

I have been lightly shopping lately and have been picking up things here and there. These are the latest things that I have picked up. I am pretty proud of all of my purchases. I like to say that I am a frugal shopper and since I discovered Marshall’s, I never want to shop at Sephora again. Will I? Yes, because sometime you just want something and Marshall’s doesn’t always have what you want. I have been making it a habit to go to Marshal’s once a month to make any of my beauty and skin care purchases. The mark down is unbelievable and makes my high end collection that much more affordable. But let me stop rambling and show you the good stuff.

This shower caddy was on clearance at Walmart for just $5. I love having all of my products up and out of the shower now. My shower used to be super cluttered with all of our stuff and now, my dad and my stuff sit in this caddy and Dean’s stuff sits on the shelf in the tub. Everything isn’t all over the corners and edge of the tub and on the floor. It is supper refreshing how clean and organized the shower looks now. I need to get some under the sink storage organizers and possibly a piece of furniture for the bathroom to put towels in. Like the over the toilet kind except I don’t have room where the toilet is (the heater is behind there), so I would put it near the washer/dryer.

IMG_3968

This is a boring repurchase, but this is the best toothpaste under $5. This keeps my teeth relatively white. I need to buy the white strips to make them as white as I want them to be, but this toothpaste does a good job at keeping them from getting yellower. If you used this with the strips, I think it would have no problem keeping your teeth as white as you want them. I want a natural white, so I only want my teeth one or two shades whiter than they already are. I love the taste and my teeth have never felt cleaner. It feels like I just came back from the dentist. I love that really clean feeling.

I am a HUGE fan of Kate Spade and Marshall’s has a ton of Kate Spade. I think I might buy a couple of decorate boxes to keep out of season clothes in next once I find coordinating room colors (anything Tiffany blue, gold, silver). I have a Tiffany blue Kate Spade notebook currently and I love it. They had this cute Rose Gold Pearls notebook for $3 and I had to have it for school. I will be taking two classes, so now I have two Kate Spade notebooks for it. I will definitely pick up two more for next semester, so if I see more next month, I will be sure to grab more to prepare. The paper is high quality and looks very classy when you take them with you like I will be taking them to work. I will be writing a post about my college essentials soon enough.

My prized win of all? This Collector’s Edition BareMinerals Deluxe Mineral Veil Finishing Powder for $9.99 worth $58 and originally went for $38. This is a huge powder at 24 grams of product. I think this will take me a whole year to go through and the packaging is to die for. Hopefully, I will be able to pop the sifter and refill. If not, I will reuse it as a holder for something. It is stunning packaging and a collector’s piece. Who would have thought that I would have found this at Marshall’s? AND it was completely sealed and untampered with. The powder has a light salmon color to it, so it color corrects slightly. It really does blur out pores and gives my face that perfected look. Stella always raves about BareMinerals and I have to say, I am impressed so far. I will definitely be buying more BareMinerals if I see any at Marshall’s.

IMG_4013

OMG you guys! I had to share these PaperMate InkJoy Gel Pens that I have been wanting so badly for school. They are on sale at Walmart right now. They are currently $8.98 marked down from $15.98. You could practically buy another pack with your savings! I didn’t do that though, I bought two other cute stationary products with my savings instead. You should check out Walmart.com or your nearest Walmart to see if they have any of these. This is my first time buying these pens, so I need to see if I like them enough to buy them again before I go crazy and buy more of them.

That is my little haul to share with all of you. I will be doing a separate in-depth online college essentials post that will cover some of the things I bought here, but mostly new stuff to talk about. Most of the stuff, I didn’t personally had to go out and buy. They were leftovers from my previous college years and failed hobbies. lol. Does anyone else do that? I tried hobbies, because other people liked them but I could never keep up. It just wasn’t my thing. The only hobby that has lasted for me is blogging. Probably because writing is my passion.

5 In: Dean Edition

I decided to rename my haul posts, because I always just feature 5 products at a time (unless it is a store themed haul like Macy’s or Sephora) and I am going to be naming my review posts 5 Out. I will be reviewing 5 empty items at a time. Do not worry. I am still doing a listing empties post, but now my reviews will be a block of 5. A fellow blogger pointed out that my reviews are really short for a full post, so I thought that I would group 5 together to make it interesting enough to read and not annoying. I hope you all like this new style. I also wanted to announce that I will be going to an every other day posting schedule to prepare for college. So, every week there will be 3 to 4 posts instead of 6 to 7. Thank you for understanding.

IMG_3906

Dean has been OBSESSED with Deb’s bubble wands lately, so I bought a pack for him for us to use at home. His Paw Patrol bubbles were running low anyway. He has a preference for the pink and blue. I don’t think he knows that the bubbles aren’t any different in the other tubes. lol. It is super fun to watch him pop all of the bubbles or at least try to anyway.

This squish ball caught my attention while looking at the swings in Walmart. I gave Dean the option of green or blue and he picked the blue. It is a really cool, fun ball. I remember having a similar ball minus the texture pieces and smaller. It was also filled with a shimmer liquid that was deemed to be toxic if swallowed, so it was taken off of the market. These are empty but like huge stress balls. I kinda want one for my desk at work now if they have a purple one. Dean loves the different texture that this ball has. It is very sensory engaging.

I bought two sets of crib teething guards on Amazon, because Dean has been eating the paint and wood off of his. I knew that the gelly ones wouldn’t cut it for us, so I opted for the cloth. It took two packs, a total of 6 pieces to fully cover his extra wide crib.

They are washable and I plan on washing them once a week. They took about 45 minutes to tie on all of the pieces securely. It requires some retying maintenance throughout the week of a few of them that he tends to pick at. He hasn’t been able to remove them yet and I hope he doesn’t learn soon. He is not ready for a toddler bed, which is my last resort (a plastic one) if he removes me and starts eating the wood again.

IMG_3922.JPG

I bought Dean his own stringing bead set, because this is a skill that he needs to build on. He loves trying, but gets easily frustrated. He hasn’t mastered how to get the string in the hole by himself yet. Once you get it in for him, he can push it the rest of the way through and pull it through the bead on the other side independently most of the time.

IMG_3967

I had to buy another straw cup for Dean. The other two were worn out and started pouring out. I am going to be buying a few more. These are the only cups that he is really into and works well with him. He sips assisted out of a cup, but he is just too hyper to learn right now how to drink out of a cup. These cups make it so easy to keep him hydrated. When I buy a few more, I will try to get him to drink his milk out of them. I think that I will finally throw away the bottles for good. It might be time for him. I will have to see how he does in the next couple of months. I want to make sure that he is ready to let go. The dentist isn’t worried about the bottles, just that he brushes his teeth and doesn’t drink milk in the crib to sleep. I brush his teeth every night and morning and he gets a bottle of tap water at night. It’s been hot at night in his room.

Well, this wraps up Dean’s purchases over the month of May and a bit of June. I love to spoil him. I forgot to photograph the four books that I scored at Marshall’s for him. I paid $9.70 for 4 hard cover baby books, which is a steal. Three of them were $3 each and one was 70 cents. He goes through books a lot. He flips through them so much that the spine breaks and he’s not exactly gentle with them either. It just makes it super affordable to enrich his mind by saving at least 50% off of his books.

The Haul Of My Life

I thought that I would share a haul that I bought for myself. I am only showing 5 things in this post, so you might see a few haul posts in the next few weeks. I will try to keep them spaced out, but I love sharing what I bought with all of you. I was going to write my Sephora Play! post, but realized that I didn’t take pictures of it yet. So, I decided to do a haul post instead. Kind of a fail on my part but I think you guys will still appreciate a great haul post. I also neglected to take a picture of my manicure for Manicure Monday, so I need to do that as well and have it just go up next Monday. I am starting to get back into painting my nails again. I love how my nails look painted. So pretty!

hair

I bought this deep repair mask at Marshall’s for $22.99. This originally goes for $48, so I know I got a great deal on something that I have always wanted to try before. I plan on bleaching my hair heavily and doing something cool with it. I am putting on a hair mask every week to prep my hair for the intense bleaching session that is to come. My hair is getting a bit greasy from doing a mask every week, but it is worth protecting my hair and strengthening it for what is to come.

bedding

I bought a Tiffany blue ruffle bedding set from Walmart for $40 and I bought the sheet and extra pillow cases separately in a similar color. I love the ruffles in it and the color goes with the theme of my room. It brightens up my room as well and adds some much needed color when all of the furniture is white and the bed is a nice cream.

I bought two pairs of shoes at Walmart for a total of $6 dollars. It was $3 a pair and I am in love with the gray sneaker and the cowboy boots. I just love them both so much especially considering the cheap price. I highly recommend buying shoes during clearance events. Just because they are cheap doesn’t mean they will fall apart quickly. My shoes always last for years after I buy them, never a season, but I also take care of them. I don’t have a ton of shoes, so these really rounded out my collection.

wallet

I needed a new wallet and I thought this one looked cute at Walmart. It also protects against the newest way to rip off people’s credit cards, so I also feel like my cards will be okay as well. It it very roomy and holds my phone. Speaking of my phone, I need to get on the IPhone bandwagon already. I need a new phone.

I bought this mirror for $4 at Walmart in the clearance section, because I needed a mirror to apply my lipstick and gloss at work discretely. I think it is perfect for the job. I can chose the magnification that I want and apply. Best invention ever.

I am sure that I will be back soon enough with another haul, because I am looking through my pictures and still see a lot of items that I have yet to share with all of you. more stuff that I bought Dean than for myself though. That boy is my life and I spoil him accordingly. I’m going to have to start deleting old photos again soon. I have yet to upgrade my wordpress, so I am always deleting photos. I use up all my room. So, if pictures start disappearing off of old posts, you know why. I never delete photos from the current year. So, nothing will be missing from 2018 until 2019.

Just Dean Hauling

I told you all that I have been hauling a lot due to tax season and Dean’s monthly stipend. So, I thought that I would share some of this hauling with all of you. There will be tons of hauls going up this month and probably the next. I don’t take pictures of EVERYTHING that I buy, but they have been piling up lately. I also love a good haul and I know others do as well. I recently put in a Macy’s order for clothes for Dean, a Hautelook order for me, and an Amazon order for Dean as well. I bought 4 cute outfits from Walmart today, but I forgot to take pictures before throwing them in the wash. When they are dry, I will take some pictures, because they are too cute not to share.

Paw Patrol Bedding Set

I bought Dean this Paw Patrol 4 piece bedding set from Walmart for about $40. Dean loves it and I am super happy about the quality. I still need to get him something thicker for the next Winter, but this is a great bedding set for the warmer months that are fast approaching. I don’t want anymore snow.

toy

I bought this big wooden block puzzle at Savers for a few dollars. It is something simple for Dean to master and easy for his little hands to pick up. His ABA therapist has a different animal puzzle that he loves, so my boy definitely loves animals.

I paid less than $15 at Walmart for both of these books. One was $8 and the other $5 I think or somewhere around there. Dean loves Paw Patrol so this was a find at the Walmart that I go to. The book section is always in disarray and picked over by the time I get to it at the end of the week. He really loved the Love book from the doctors and I was able to find this love book which is similar.

toy

I bought this at Savers and it has not been a hit so far. His ABA therapist has some thing similar, so I thought that he would like it. Maybe when he gets a little older or has a bit more patience for a toy like this.

toy

Another purchase at Savers that Dean actually likes. His ABA therapist has the exact same toy, which is why I bought one. I like to have toys that he likes at home that his therapist also uses, so I can carry on that teaching and learning process for him. He loves the animal sounds and I am starting to see a pattern of him loving anything that has to do with animals.

I don’t like to write a huge haul post, so I always wait until I have 5 items for my posts. I might make my lap top purchase a separate post, just because I have so much to say about it. I still have to take some decent photos of it as well. I hope you are all having a great weekend. I’m sorry for not posting everyday like I have been doing lately. I never meant for my blog to be an everyday thing, but it has been such a relaxing activity for me lately. I have been making time for it. When I am too busy, I don’t post. I just wanted you guys to know that. The dogs went to the vet yesterday, so I just didn’t feel like posting afterwards. I go to a vet school clinic, so the vet bill was amazing. It was $109 for both dogs that includes two physicals, two 3 year Rabies, 2 3 year distemper, 2 6 month supply of Hartguard, 2 6 month supply of Netgaurd, 2 nail trimmings, and miscellaneous fees. I have to wait until April 1st to book Serena’s dental cleaning which was quoted between $250 and $350 max. Very happy with their clinic. Makes it affordable to have pets again.

Walmart Fall Beauty Box 2017

The Fall box was so late and the Winter boxes were supposed to start mailing out on Dec 21st. I haven’t heard anything about the Winter boxes, but I’m guessing that those will be very late and out of season as well. If the boxes don’t get better next year with the customization added to it, I will probably cancel. I hate that it’s a season behind and the fact that I was charged for almost a whole month before it shipped. It’s annoying.

At only $5 a box and $20 a year, I can’t really complain, but then again, I can. I paid $5 for something that didn’t ship out to me until almost a month after I was charged. I always keep these boxes, but then, I have NOTHING to put in them. I will save this box, because it is purple. I’m sure I’ll be recycling it in a few months when it is still empty. lol.

hairspray

Tresemme Tres Two Spray Extra Hold Hairspray, 1.5 oz for $2.17

I needed some hairspray since I am totally out. Right now, I am using a gel that is like a hairspray. I have to say that I like hairspray better than gel, especially when it is a lighter hold hairspray. Although this is an extreme hold, I’m still happy to have a mini hairspray around. I just hate the little dandruff like pieces it leaves in my hair after brushing my hair. I have to wash my hair after using this, so I tend to use something like this on the night that I wash my hair.

toothpaste

Hello Extra Whitening Fluoride Toothpaste, 0.85 oz for $4.43

I was surprised to see just how expensive this brand is. My toothpaste is on it’s last legs, so this came just in time to try. If I see results, I would keep buying, because the name brand ones just aren’t working that well. The mini is almost the same price as the big one, so at least I know that it would be $5 for a big tube. I would spend that if it worked. Plus, a full sized toothpaste lasts like 6 months for just me using it.

mouth

Plackers Micro Mint Dental Flossers for $0.97

I already have a big pack of these at home. It is by far the easiest way to floss my teeth, especially with the metal bar in my mouth. This travel pack is nice to have in my bag at work, so I can floss after having my lunch if I feel like there is food stuck in my teeth. I can also easily refill it with more flossers from the big bag at home. This is really nice to have around instead of a roll of floss. I don’t need a mirror with these to floss my teeth.

lotion

Gold Bond Ultimate Radiance Renewal Cream Oil, 0.75 oz for $0.97

I put this in Dean’s pile for his dry skin. We are almost out of his Aveno, so he needs something else for the dry skin on his legs. I usually put Johnson baby lotion from head to toe and then put Aveno or this Gold Bond on his dry and rashy parts. He gets heat rash a lot and he has bumpy dry skin. I do this routine every night before bed and clean clothes. Keeping him out of sweaty clothes helps, but he has very dry Winter skin. He wasn’t nearly this bumpy and rashy in the summer.

Body Fantasies in Tropical Wish & Cozy Cotton

Perfume samples are “eh” to me, but I will use them. I appreciate that these have caps, so you can take them on the go with you. I’ll throw these in my sample bag for now. I like that this box has tons of coupons and although I won’t use this one, it’s nice to have.

hair

Shea Moisture Curl & Shine Shampoo & Curl Enhancing Smoothie foil packets

My hair isn’t thick, so I will be passing these on. I think this will be too heavy for my thin hair. If something is too heavy, it makes my hair look greasy the day after washing. The conditioner is very generous compared to the shampoo, which is very nice.

mask

Soo Ae Donkey Milk Sleeping Mask for $0.50

My local store have these masks for 50 cents currently. I went by current my store prices for the price of my box. I love getting sheet masks in my box. I have used the sheet mask from the summer box and I really liked it. I look forward to having the time to use up this mask as well. I’m curious…..oh….wait, this isn’t a sheet mask, but an overnight mask! I am pleasantly surprised! I haven’t tried a sleeping mask yet. I’m very excited! I’ll use this when my skin is feeling extra dry. Perfect for the Winter months.

My box had plenty of samples and coupons. The box overall feels more put together than my previous two boxes. The value of my box was $9.07 which is $4.07 more than I paid for, which is good enough for me. I am looking forward to a customized Winter box in the coming month or so.

Banana

For Parent’s Choice Toddler Banana Cookies

food

Dean did not like these bland banana flavored graham cookies and I do not blame him. I will not repurchase, because he didn’t like it. He loves the Parent’s Choice pouches, though and I like the diapers and wipes. The new Organics line of pouches are his favorite, but nothing beats the Sweet Potato and Cinnamon pouch. I have been enjoying this Walmart brand, not all of the products can be winners and that’s true of every brand. Every child is different. I think I might try the yogurt drops again, since he is older. He might be able to handle them better. I would say that these cookies are better suited for young toddlers who haven’t been exposed to spices yet. Dean loves my dad’s spicy spaghetti!

Fruit & Grain

For Great Value Fruit & Grain Apple Cinnamon

food

Dean and I both love soft granola bars. I have repurchased the Market Basket brand in the berry flavor (Blueberry?) and that one is a hit as well. Dean usually eats half the bar at a time and I break it up into small, easy to eat pieces. It can be very messy, so I always feed him this in his highchair as part of his morning snack between breakfast and lunch. I am surprised that he can eat that much of the bar, but he loves to eat. It really shouldn’t surprise me, but it does. It is made with whole grains and real fruit filling, so it is a healthier snack. Half of the bar will give you 6 grams of sugar, 1g of protein, and 1.25 g of total fat. Half of a bar is 70 calories, so it is very filling to a 21.5 pound little boy, who loves to eat everything in sight.

Walmart Summer Beauty Box

After seeing what my best friend got in her Walmart beauty box, I feel a little disappointed that I didn’t get those press on gel nails. I’m still happy with my summer box and I cannot complain when I only paid $5 for everything. The theme is Radiate Your Beauty and it contained a whole lot of summer essentials. I love that everything is travel friendly in case I decided to go to Maine for the day. I like to wash my hair in those shower stalls instead of waiting to go home, when everyone would rush for the bathroom back in my youth.

I love the colors and overall design of the box this season. It looks like a beautiful sunset and the perfect size to put a book inside of. I like to protect my paperbacks by the pool when not in use and this box would be perfect for that purpose.

Schwarzkopf Got 2B Ultra Glued Invincible Styling Gel = $0.88

hair

Like I said in my Sephora Play post yesterday, I like to put some type of hair product in my hair after a shower and this is something that I would add in after my detangler. I am using something else at the moment, so this will be going into storage for now. If my dad runs out of styling gel, I would give him this one to try out. He rarely runs out of hair products though, because he hardly ever uses them. Well, he doesn’t remember to.

Ecotools Mask Remover Sponges = $2.64

face

I am excited for these! Masks are so messy and I know I have a hard time removing them. These sponges will make it so much easier and I will probably do masks more often now. You can reuse these sponges. I’m not sure how long one will realistically last, but since three are under $4 at Walmart, it would be easy to pick up replacements. It’s not that expensive if it works better than a face cloth. I like that you can also use it to make your face wash a bit more exfoliating.

Pantene Dream Care Shampoo & Conditioner = $4.67

I enjoy the scent of these and I will be placing them in my back stock. I am working through my foil packets of shampoo and conditioner right now. Once I finish all of the foil packets, I will move on to these deluxe sizes to make my full size bottle of shampoo and conditioner last a bit longer. My hair needs variety. It gets used to shampoo and then, it will stop working as good. I like constantly changing it up. Everything works on my hair now. It’s amazing. Now, I know if a shampoo stops working, I need to switch to a different one and then I can go back to the other one and it will work again. I never thought hair could really “get used” to shampoo. I think it’s more of my scalp though, not the actual hair.

Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion = $1.18

IMG_2363

I will be using this on Dean, because Dean has dry skin on his legs and arms. I like to use more natural products on Dean, besides his really artificial shampoo and body wash. I bought baby lotion for him, but it doesn’t moisturize his skin enough. I’ve actually been using his lotion, because it provides light moisture which is what my oily skin needs in the summer. This has a skin protectant, so it will be good for his skin.

Banana Boat Dry Balance SPF 30 Sunscreen = $1.87

face

I am happy to have a back up sunscreen for my face for at the pool and for Dean’s face, too. I don’t like having a greasy sunscreen face, so having a separate sunscreen is essential. Usually, sunscreens will have an expiration date, but this one doesn’t. I would assume that it will be good for a year, so I could still use it next year if I don’t finish it. I’ll put it in my back up stash for now. Wow. I say that a lot.

Soo Ae Nature Vitamin Collage Essence Mask = $2.50

mask

I’m happy that I got a sheet mask in my box, because I’m going through 7 of my masks during the 14 by Fall challenge. It might be a while before I use this mask, but I have tried this brand before and I really like how saturated these are. I look forward to using it when I can.

Lastly, I got this foil packet sample and it couldn’t have come at a better time. My brushes need a deep cleaning right now and I think I’ll them after this post. Baby shampoo is just not cutting it anymore.

The total of this Walmart box is $13.74 and that is over double of what I paid for this box. I will be using everything in this box and I think it was well worth the $5 investment. What did you get in your box?
