Empties: June

I am able to get this post up a bit earlier in the month, which I am very happy about. I did go through quite a few products in June. It was a pretty heavy empties month, but I did not use up any makeup items. I did end up with pink eye, so I didn’t use makeup for a while. I am SO CLOSE on quite a few makeup items now. I am pretty sure that I can still use up 22 products in 2022. I’m almost done with two mini lip balms, a gel blush, a powder, two setting sprays, eyebrow gel, and another mascara. That is eight products right there. I should be in a good spot soon.

It was the month of haircare and skincare. I managed to use 4 hair products this past month. It was a dry shampoo month as we finished up two bottles of it. I also managed to use up shampoo and a conditioner. I usually use up the matching shampoo before the conditioner, so I rarely use them up in sets.

So many skincare items! 4 eye masks, an eye serum, an eye cream, and a packet of facial wipes. I decluttered the two eye items when I got pink eye as those were the 2 items that I used on and around my eyes 48 hrs prior to getting pink eye symptoms. I had not used my mascara or any eye shadow or liner thankfully.

I used 2 bath bombs and they really color the water nicely! Not much of a scent, but they also don’t stain or leave your tub slippery. I would get these again. I paired them with bath salts for scent and relaxing qualities.

Three misc items. Deodorant, room spray, and a pen.

7 sheets of stickers for accountability purposes.

It is nice to see 13 beauty items leave my collection. June was a very productive month for me and I hope to keep the momentum going through July. I do know that light months usually follow heavy months, so I am not going to be disappointed if July doesn’t yield as many empties as June did.

I am doing good with using up more products in the monetary sense. I feel better that my number went down from 45 to 39. I have used up 6 more items than what I bought in June. I am looking forward to seeing this number go down a bit further.

Collective Haul for June

I didn’t pick up too many beauty items in June and some of them were birthday gifts. I have been focused on using what I have, which I feel will be very reflective in June’s empties post. I literally have almost everything I could want now, so I feel the slow down coming. I am also shifting focus, which I think will help curb my beauty spending. Like I said, I only picked up a handful of things, so here we go!

Pearlessence Watermelon Dry Shampoo, $6.99 ($15)

I wanted to try a different kind of dry shampoo and this one is watermelon scented! The bottle caught my eye. We do love our Batiste and Amiks, but we are not opposed to giving other brands a try.

Shiseido Facial Cotton, 165 sheets $7.99 ($12)

I wanted to see what all the hype is about this kind of cotton. We do need some cotton pads too because we have a liquid toner and are running out of cotton balls for it.

Kopari Charcoal Deodorant, $6.99 ($14)

So far this is the only natural deodorant that does not irritate my underarms. I do use a heavy-duty overnight deodorant/antiperspirant. I do have to apply it twice a day to stay effective. I do enjoy it, but it is too early for me to say whether I would repurchase it or not.

My fiance’s maternal grandmother gave this to me for my birthday along with some goodies! I love organizers and this fits perfectly in my bathroom free-standing cabinet.

Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Pink Juice Moisturizer

I love love love this moisturizer. It has been perfect this summer with my oily skin. It smells like a watermelon jolly rancher and sinks in pretty quickly. It doesn’t irritate my eyes, either. This will probably be in this year’s empties.

Innisfree Intensive Hydrating Cream w/Green Tea Seed

I haven’t tried this yet, but it looks interesting. Since we share skincare, it will suit one of us, if not both of us.

Samples. 🙂

Joico Beach Shake Texturizing Finisher, $19.99 ($24.50)

I purchased this for when I want to wear my hair naturally, which has a bit of a wave to it. It is perfect and light, even though I have fair hair and it is for medium to thick.

Empties: April/May

Two months worth of empties and decluttered items. There are 39 items that would be counted towards my beauty balance. We can certainly get into the meat of this post and I can give a bit more details on the items that I have used up from the beginning of April to the end of May.

This was a self-care basket that I gave to my future sister-in-law who was going through some rough times with a loss within her family.

I forgot to include this in the above photo.

The above was a care package for my daughter, when we were still not seeing each other.

This care package was for my son’s special education teacher. She is expecting soon.

Over the past 2 months, I have used up 10 sticker sheets, which is really good for me.

I was able to use up 8 skin care products in two months, which is impressive for me.

I change out my hair brushes often, probably once every three months. I use a fair amount of product that it does gunk up, even with washing it with some mild soap. The scalp scrub broke in the shower. The Bed Head, I’ve had FOREVER and it went bad. Dry Shampoo is a staple and makes a monthly appearance.

I am so proud of myself that I was able to finish off two makeup products in 2 months. I am still behind, but I am almost finished with 2 more products. I think they will be done in the month of June. We shall see.

22 in 2022: April/May Update

I have used up 5/22 items so far in this project pan. With the move happening in May, I decided to combine April and May’s updates as most of the items were boxed up in the month of May/end of April.

April/May Project Pan Items:

Hourglass Palette:

I am retiring the Hourglass palette. I don’t enjoy using it anymore. The more I used it, the more I realized that I didn’t like the shimmer on my face. I only used it when I was home all day and even then, I always thought my face was too sparkly/too dark. I’m going to be giving this to my stepdaughter to play with since it is on the older side and only good as play makeup at this point.

IGK Holographic Foam:

I’m gonna be honest and say that I have not used this. I plan on just putting it in my pony tail or bun the next time I go to work. This is an easy empty. I don’t know why I am having such a hard time using it up. I think I just keep forgetting to use it.

Too Faced Peach Primer:

I finished this primer.

Huda Beauty Setting Spray:

I am still working on this. It feel half empty.

Farsali Setting Spray:

The markings have rubbed off on the glass bottle. I have a little less than half the bottle to go. I think I should be close to done by the end of June. We are still setting up our vanity, so I can’t say for sure. It might not be done until the end of July.

Becca Bronzing/Highlighting Beads:

I am getting there. No visible progress to report.

Ciate London Setting Powder:

I have might slight progress on this powder. I haven’t been using this much lately as I have been using another powder-like product instead.

I am adding 5 more items into the project.

Florence Brow Gel:

Still plenty of product on the brush.

Bite Lip Gloss:

Just started using this and already at the E (above). It is a click type gloss, so I think it will be pretty easy to move through.

Pretty Vulgar Beauty Mousse:

This is a foundation/primer hybrid. I am into a light base at the moment, so I thought this was the perfect time to pan this product.

Dior Dream Skin Perfector:

This is a primer/light coverage (think slightly tinted) tint as well. This is more on the greasy/oily side, so this will require the use of the powder in the project, which will help me reach for it more.

Rodial Glow Primer:

This is the oldest primer in my collection. It is a liquid dropper type. It will probably take me a couple of months to move through it.

My current makeup count is 7/22 used up/decluttered. I will have to pick up the pace if I want to use up 15 items with 6 months remaining. I would need to use up 2 to 3 items every month. Here’s to hoping that I can have another successful project pan this year!

Marshalls Haul

I promise to get my project pan content up. lol. With the move and unpacking, it has been a bit difficult to locate items and I haven’t been working on some of the items for the same reason. I am hoping to pickup with the project and I am actually going to be adding other items to it. I did go with my daughter and fiancĂ© to Marshall’s and we did a bit of shopping. Some were essentials. Others, not so much.

Batiste Dry Shampoo in Sassy & Daring Wild, $8 ($20)

Our current can is almost out and we only have a mini of the Amika. We both live and breathe dry shampoo, so it is a staple in our household.

Elizabeth Arden Pro Skin Perfecting Peel Pads, $5 ($56)

My fiancĂ© really enjoys the toner pads, so I saw these for $5 and picked them up. I cannot believe how expensive these are. lol. We will enjoy these for sure. They are quick, easy, and fast, when you don’t want to break out the cotton balls for a liquid toner.

Marc Jacobs Youthquake Gel Creme, $12 ($59)

Again, holy hell at that price tag! I needed a new day time moisturizer as I don’t like the Too Faced one with the sunscreen in it. I’ve been using it on my tattoo or when going swimming as my SPF just to use it up. Everything just pills ontop of that stuff. I love gel creams and this one is no different. You can’t go heavy handed with this, because it will make you greasy. It is light and hydrating when applied sparingly on my oily skin. I like to get my hands on as many Marc Jacobs items as I can and I always wanted to try this.

Milk Makeup Holographic Stick in Supernova, $7.99 ($28)

Since I have been into creams lately, I thought that I would get a stick highlighter. This one is a purple/blue/pink shift and it is SO PRETTY! I am so glad that I own this one. I am seriously a makeup junkie and I am enjoying every minute of it. Fingers crossed that I can use up 22 makeup items this year. I think I can do it. I am included decluttered items as well in those numbers as I feel like they count just as much since they are still leaving my collection.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Stain in Gray Mauve, $6.99 ($18)

I wanted to get a vampy color to round out my collection. It is patchy and you really have to build it up to be opaque. I have to do quite a few coats, so I don’t think this lip stain will last long. In this case, that is a good thing. I will be on the lookout for another lip stain, because I do like the looks of a stain. They can be very pretty.

More swatches.

I do feel that I will have this lip stain used up by the end of the year. I will be breaking this out mostly in the fall. It is the perfect autumn lip color.

Sephora Haul

I am back with another Sephora Haul. I didn’t get as many things this time around as I was only looking for my birthday gift and a couple of items. I have recently tightened my budget for the rest of the year starting in June. I want to focus on saving for my wedding. I also have another exciting announcement and no, it is not a baby. lol

Not the samples that I chose.

I snagged a trail size of the new BumBum scent and I am in love. One of these days, I will bite the bullet on this $40 cream, but for now, I live for free samples. I wanted another mini Amika dry shampoo, so I opted for the Amika birthday set. I am not disappointed.

Sephora 1 Minute Face Masks in Lotus, $6 ($12)

These were half off and I needed an extra boost to get free shipping, since you can’t stack codes. I haven’t tried them yet, but I think these will be fun to wear. It is something nice and quick to use with my fiancĂ© and daughter. Oh yeah, I have my daughter back and having our family together has been amazing.

KVD Beauty XO Vinyl Lip Cream Lip Gloss in Rosita, $14 ($20)

I don’t really support Kate Von D, but I couldn’t resist the bright pink shade. It is so pretty and lasts a long time for a lip gloss. It is very opaque and a shade that I am sure to rock all summer long.

ITEM Beauty Blushin’ Like Cream Blush in Bad Bleep, $16

I have been really into cream blush lately and my only cream blush in a similar shade is almost done. Ahhhh, it will be nice having finished a blush. I think my current preference is cream, so I am going to stick with that for a while. This is a cream to powder blush. I tap this on with my finger, so I don’t get as intense of a shade. Sometimes, I mix it with a little bit of concealer or the blush down below. I absolutely love it.

Iconic London Sheer Cream Blush in Rose Riot, $27

This looks more like Fresh Faced Nude instead of the color that I actually wanted. It is still pretty, so I will wear it. I actually have been wearing this one more than the berry color currently. I have a funny feeling that this will be empty in a few months. It is watery, so you do have to use a fair amount to get the kind of color payoff that I like. I would purchase this again, but in a different color. I’m more of a pink girl.

Unblended swatches above.

Blended swatches above and the lip gloss swatched. They both dry down matte.

Both of the above are blended swatches.

I was a bit disappointed that the Rose Riot didn’t stay glowy as it looked SO PRETTY with a bit of gloss to it. It is still pretty matte, but I am a bit disappointed. Have you picked up any of these beauties?

TJMax Haul

For my birthday, we went out to eat and had sushi! I also stopped at TJMAX to look around and pick up some birthday treats. Here’s what I picked up:

DearBoo Peach & Hibiscus Hydrogel, 30 ct $7.99 ($16.99)

We don’t have many eye patches yet and we love to use these to brighten up the eye area. It is also great when you want to mask, but you don’t want the commitment of a mask. These are also great to throw on at lunch when I am working from home.

Beauty Concepts Cleansing Facial Wipes, $4 ($14.99)

This is a restock, since I only have a packet left from the last order.

Onyx Bathhouse Foaming Body Scrub, $5.99 ($22)

I love the scent of this body scrub and I love having a backup. I have been flying through my scrubs since I have been self tanning. I took a break because of the move, but I am getting back on the self-tan train. I am sure that this will appear in an empties post in the coming months.

AMNH Unicorn Dream Sugar Polish, $7.99 ($20)

This smells delicious like cotton candy or sugar floss! It has a very sweet scent that I do enjoy. It is a scrub and I plan on using this one in my shower next. It is definitely worth the hype and I think this is the knock off brand of Truley. The price point was well worth it for me and I love how pretty it looks!

AMNH Unicorn Dreams Whipped Body Butter, $8.99 ($20)

It has the same great sweet scent that is part of the Unicorn Dreams line. The color of the body butter isn’t as bright or as vivid as the scrub, but that is okay. This will be a fun body butter to use once I have finished up a couple of minis.

AMNH Peach Booty Butt Butter, $8.99 ($20)

I will be using this after I finish up my tightening boob cream. I just use these types of products where I want to see a tightening effect, if it even is that effective. Who knows? I love the scent of peach and this smells like a fresh, juicy, ripe peach. I am not going to lie. I went into the store looking for a peach scent and I am super hyped that I found one.

St. Tropez Purity Bronzing Water Gel, $13 ($44)

I thought this water gel would be nice to use after I use up the in shower self tanner that I have from the same brand. I am really into self-tan and experimenting with new looks and different types of makeup to try to find out the look that I enjoy the most. I definitely like a sunkissed look on my skin and that’s all that I am looking for in a self-tanner. I don’t mind just having a healthy glow from the sun.

I spent $56.95, but I could have spent upwards of $157.98 if I bought everything full price. That is 3x the amount approximately that I have spent on this haul.

Spring Boxycharm Luxe

This is my last Boxycharm as I don’t see the value in it anymore and the excitement factor has worn off. The move has made me realize that I get more enjoyment out of going to Marshall’s, picking out items myself, and getting a great deal on them. I did Boxycharm for a year and that seems to be my maximum for most beauty subscriptions. I don’t know when I will subscribe to another beauty subscription. But alas, here is the last Boxycharm unboxing.

Aria Beauty Luxe Oval Detangling Brush, $34.99

I really enjoy this brush. I only brush my hair when it is dry to minimize damage to my bleached hair. Definitely the most expensive brush that I have ever owned before. There is nothing else to say than that I enjoy it and have been noticing less breakage.

Drybar Liquid Glass Miracle Smoothing Sealant, $34

I am excited to try out another drybar product. I have very frizzy hair, so anything that can tame my frizz I am willing to try. I have so many hair products now as I have really gotten into the investment of my hair. I have so many things to try. I love it!

Stay Calm Soothing Sheet Masks Aloe Infused, $30

Sheet masks are always welcome in our collection. The soothing aloe mask will be nice after a day in the sun. I haven’t found a sheet mask that isn’t like any other. I don’t feel loyal to any sheet masks.

Ren Brightening Dark Circle Eye Cream, $51

I am always excited to try a new eye cream and anything to improve my dark circles, I am willing to give a shot. I tend to fly through eye cream, because I use it religiously. I am happy to have this in my back stock until I am ready to use it.

Frank Body Perky Sculpting Body Hydrator, $19.95

I do not like the scent of this and neither does Martin. We will be giving this to Jenna. lol

Lawless Forget The Filler Lip Plumping Gloss, $25

I really like this lip gloss. It doesn’t hurt like the Too Faced one. It is a nice consistently. It is like a balm and not sticky. It has a nice candy scent.

Natasha Denona Cupid Eyeshadow Palette, $25

Neither one of us are attracted to these colors. This will be given away.

Iconic London Multi-Use Sculpting Palette, $49

Martin and I are excited to utilize this palette. It has colors to suit both of our skin tones. I have been into creams lately, so I am highly interested in this palette. I cannot wait to set up our vanity and have all of our products spread out. It will be so fun.

The value of this box was $268.94. I don’t feel like Luxe is worth it. Some of my Boxycharms have had this great of a value. There is a couple of things that we aren’t interested in, which brings down the value of this box. Overall, it is an end of a fun year, but all good things must come to an end at some point.

Sephora Haul

As you know, the Sephora sale occurred early in April. I wanted to pick up some Olaplex items and this was the perfect time to do so. I also picked up a few other things as you do. I’m excited to use these products once I have unpacked them all at our new place. I have no clue where they are currently. I am so excited to dive into these goodies once I get the chance to. Without further ado, here is what I purchased at Sephora.

I got a crap ton of samples, which I am very grateful for. This makes up for all the times I never got the samples that I ordered.

St. Tropez Dual Sided Velvet Luxe Applicator Mitt, $7.50

I decided to get a mitt for my self-tan to ensure that I don’t get any streaking.

Isle of Paradise Night Glow Self-Tan Face Mist, $20.85 ($24)

I really want to get my glow on this summer, so I also got an overnight spray. I don’t own white sheets (Black). We shall see if there is any clothing staining. I shower at night, so an overnight self-tanner works perfectly with my life style.

Coola Refreshing Water Mist Sunscreen, $32.40 ($36)

I detest traditional sunscreen on my face. I enjoyed the setting spray with SPF, but found it to be very oily on my skin. I am hoping that this spray will be lighter. I use sunscreen all the time during the summer months starting in May to protect my skin. This will also make it easy to get sunscreen on my son’s face as well.

Olaplex No. 6 Bond Smoother, $25.20 ($28)

I enjoy leave in treatments on my hair. Anything to preserve the integrity of my bleached hair, I am all for. I am eager to try out my Olaplex products to see what all of the hype is about. These are small bottles, so I’m sure it won’t take me long to use up. HOWEVER, I have a lot of hair products that I rotate through, so it will be interesting to see how long this lasts in my collection.

Olaplex No. 0 Intensive Bond Building Treatment, $25.20 ($28)

Again, this is something I am excited to try to help with the integrity of my hair. I am looking forward to my self-care Sundays. Once the move is over, all the furniture delivered, and everything unpacked, I am sure to be starting a Self-Care Sunday series.

Olaplex Hair Repair Remedies, $50.40 ($56, $72 Value)

This set includes the full size of No. 3 Hair Perfector and No. 8 Bond Intense Moisture Mask, plus a mini of each for travel. Since my hair is bleached and color treated, I want to invest in my hair further to keep it from getting fried and damaged. I plan on adding an intense self-care hair regimen to do every Sunday night, where I go through all of my Olaplex steps. I’m still working on getting them all, but I got a bunch in this order. this was a great value for the money.

Cinema Secrets Hand Sanitizer, $8 ($12)

We are almost out of our VS Hand Sanitizer that is also a spray. We prefer the sprays as it is less drying on the hands. This has a strong cucumber scent. It isn’t unpleasant, but it was stronger than expected.

Nars Mini AfterGlow Lip Balm Duo, $19 ($22)

This was limited edition and no longer available for purchase. The difference between the two colors is very slight. I really love the slight color payoff and how balmy these fill on the lips. I do love them and I would get more minis in the future. I’m currently loving, balms, glosses, and bright lips for Spring/Summer.
